If this vintage is anything to go by it falls into that category of Italian whites that fail to offer anything out of the ordinary, and there are a lot despite improvements in recent years, quite a full dry winebut those that tasted all felt it was very ordinary in the sense it offered nothing other than being decent, not to be memory holed.
Red
2015 Château Beaumont Haut-Médoc Red Bordeaux Blend (view label images)
Good introduction to Bordeaux at a for the area a very decent price, dark slight fading blackcurrant and mint nose, nice full mouthful well balanced and good aciditysome tertiary notes keep it interesting.
Will have to see if I can get some later vintages of this as it is VGV.

Have drunk the '19 which I liked, this is very pale very gooseberry and has high acidity, not as good as the '19 and already showing signs of a slow death, by the bottom of the bottle it was all dull acid, Winbirri can make decent wine but whether it is the winery or the dodgy weather it is in the few examples I have drunk inconsistent.

I recently stocked up my everyday reds, mainly from supermarkets and the WS with an ecletic mix of grapes and countries of origin.
This was the second of the Trapiche efforts and like the first it hardly got the taste buds racing, I never expect wonders at this price level but occasionally am more than pleasantly surprised.
I repeat Trapiche used to be a go to for cheap decent everyday Argentinian reds, this like the CS drunk recently was very disappointing, nothing about it would make me go back for more, there are a lot of very decent Malbecs for sale but this was not one of them, can't be bothered to describe as there was little to describe that had any virtue.

Not drunk this grape for awhile and this one was past its best, shame as it had traces of a better life still in it, the biggest problem was it had lost any freshness it had, still had the deep flavour of the grape and sweetness but a bit one dimensional, my fault for passing it over to many times.
White - Off-dry

A forgotten and misplaced 'gem' found when I moved a couple of years ago, the very last of my '71s a fabulous vintage that set me on my way in the world of wine.
Amazingly the cork was still good, many from that period just crumbled, and the neck level was still decent, on opening I did not have the courage to decant and simply poured and swilled in the glass, very dark almost orange with a candied fruit aroma, it soon faded away and wine though still drinkable died in the glass but not until I had tasteda great though faded melange of stone fruits and candied peel, no discernible acidity and by the second half of the bottle the whole had died away.
I was amazed there was anything there at all as the bottle had been subjected to numerous house moves and truth be told neglect, still a look back to the greatest ? post war vintage from Germany.

Trapiche used ti be a go to name for good quality reasonably priced wine, this was quite frankly rubbish, little fruit and it tailed off into a rather nasty tasting concoction of who knows what, there intro wines appear to have downgraded.

A bit bland compared to the 2017, not much going on in any dept, drinkable yes enjoyment no more than a supermarket offering, disappointing.
Red
A step up from their standard Garnacha, dark but transluscent brooding smooth and spicy, a nice nose of dark cherries and spices, no fading on rim can see this lasting awhile, good buy.

Red
Good crunchy fruity garnacha, acidity spot on for food and a really good everyday red at a very fair price.
White
Much the same as the last bottle, still fruit driven and needs more acidity, coming from someone who thinks a lot of modern Riesling is over acidic I think I have made my point, good bottle though lacking that edge.
Red
Well made quality blend Carena Garnacha, verydark with no fading, good aromatic fruity nose of dark berries, blackcurrants, full pallette of dark plums and berries good acidity and some length, a very decent wine at a good price
Red
Spicy nose and full fruit mouthful, already integrated tannins and spot on acidity, good length and satisfying, had a good decant which brought out the quality within, very enjoyable and pricewise not to high considering the quality.
Red
A blend of Malbec, Cab Sav, and Merlot, initial impression of this dark wine is a herby Bordeaux blend, probably the Malbec, quite smooth in the mouth and perfectly drinkable but little length so a bit dull to finish, not without its plusses but on the evidence of this bottle no rush to buy again.
Red
As before but a little less 'vivacious', perhaps it needed a decant, at this level I don't usually bother.

A pretty nondescript wine in all ways, drinkable and forgettable in equal measure, there are better versions of the grape out there.
White - Fortified
Surprisingly decent, true to type a dry fruity amontilado , good mouthful correct acidity and some length, goes well with nuts as I discovered, good value.
White
Tasted at a friends house, nice typical light greenish tinge colour, good nose of citrus and melon, nice mouthful of tropical fruits good acidity and some length, , best verdicchio I have drunk in a while, not great but vey drinkable and enjoyable which is what it is all about.
Red
Quality fruit shines through, black cherries and chocolate, dark in colour but still no fading, really nice mouthful with spot on acidity and fine tannins, very nice wine and well put together.
Red
Last bottle as promised, same results as before and time to finish proved correct, will last some time but can't see any improvement with this, so it was good timing, still a good wine though.
Red
Juicy soft berry nose, medium flavourful mouthfull with a touch of acidic cranberry, fresh decent length.
Red
A supermarket red with a bit of a bite to it, typical of the grape without being anything other than a slightly different everyday red, at least it was an original addition to the range, worth a try .
White
Deep fruited version of the grape, filling mouthful and well balanced, a pleasant change from the usual supermarket offerings.
White
A tropical fruit forward style, still a bit herby in the mouth and though integrated it still doesn't seem quite right, left for a few hours and it changed very little quite fresh but the sum of the parts is not quite right to me.

Not convinced by this, had several Langmeil wines when in Aus years ago and was impressed, this is a bit tart beginning to brown on the rim and generally gives the impression it is already passed it, shame I like the wines of this grape from this region, but this............
Red
Deep red no fading on rim, gentle aromas a cool climate Shiraz from Aus nice gentle mouthful with some oak evident good acidity and length, nice change from the usual full throttle Aus Shiraz.

Final bottle of this, all as my notes before, a really lovely wine and probably as good as any Gigondas I have have come across and better than 90% of them.
White
Not a good buy, all gooseberry and very dry, nothing redeeming about this, it was like a step back in time to when so many English wines were of the same ilk, not at all nice.

The second bottle, both purchased at the winery, as before not exciting and to be honest I would not buy again, the tasting at the winery was not an indication of what was in the purchased bottles!
If it hasn't come round by now then it probably never will or I will be dead by then if it does!
Red
Best described as a lightweight Barberesco, cherry aromas light colour and crunchy in the mouth, acidity still obvious, another wine brought over by my brother after an Italian trip and not to my knowledge available in the UK, very decent introduction to Nebbiolo, short decant.
I will let the other bottle lay for awhile.
Red
I like it, just! prunes plums and herbs, dark colour no fading on rim, full meaty mouthful a bit to tannic still and acidity still prevelant, probably needs a bit more time, maybe to much of a good thing here and it had a three hour decant, a bit to much going on for me but others will love it.
Red
A year on and much more settled and integrated, good example of what is now coming out of Germany with PN but no way would I spend the asking price currently wanted for this now, there are better buys.
Red
Impossible to purchase in the UK given to me by brother who lives in Switzerland on a trip back home.
Medium ruby with fading rim, raspberry cherry and sweet citrus on the nose, ripe fruit in the mouth and totally integrated, nice wine, I have no knowledge of the price of this but from my trips to Switzerland I know nothing decent is cheap, in fact much is outrageous, so cannot give a VFM assessment.
Most wines are drunk in Swwittzerland and are not exported.
White
I can see why this wine has created some controversy, firstly I will say it is well made and the style is deliberate, dry grapefruit and acidic as many riesling are today, if you like the style you will love this, myself initially it was a SB look alike, nothing wrong in that but it is far removed from riesling as we know it, whilst admiring the wine itself I ask would I buy more of it and the answer is doubtful, as an adventure in style it succeeds but you have to like it.
Probably at or near its peak.
Red
A very good fruity everyday Malbec, nothing special but nothing amiss, even Decanter gave this a good review as a bargain buy and these bottom end bargains are getting harder to find.
Red
Holding up well, as before with notes time to drink but on this showing will keep, still a very nice drop.
Red
Very bright ruby colour no fading, cherry sweet and cherry souron the nose, same on the palette with some blueberry and oak? some length but overall not the best garnaca from the Madrid hills I have drunk despite the winery it came from, bit meh, but that could be me!
Had a two hour decant and it did open up a bit.
Red
Still in full flush as notes before apart from a smoother mouthful, lovely wine and one of the few that over time have not disappointed at any phase in their evolution.

Red
Time to drink up, starting to fade on the rim, aroma is a bit muted, still a decent mouthful and some length, but my last bottle of this vintage will follow quite soon, see no point in keeping longer, a two hour decant did not change anything either.
Red
A decent example of an everyday Greek red, some brambly nose and herbs good dry mouthful with fruit background, nothing spectacular but decent VFM.
Red
Aromatic Mencia nose, typical smooth silky mouthful, good fruit and spot on acidity, as good a Mencia as I have drunk and a good reason to seek out more, would be interested to see the aging potential of this, but excellent as is.
White
Not a producer I had much contact with in recent years, purchased mainly because of bargain price and to see what it offered.
A slightly sweeter kabinet with a stone fruit nose quite steely decent acidity and some length, at the price point this is a good buy and not shabby compared with the opposition in a good year.
Red
A fruit driven Rioja, lovely aromatics still young and very dark blackcurrant mouthful and a fair bit of length, acidity already well integrated, cracking value from this Bodega as I have mentioned before, very unassuming winery where the lady of the house does everything from making the wine to selling it, recommend.
Red
First of the six, bright cherry nose some herbs quite light and a very pleasant mouthful, not a heavyweight, went well with food still some tannin on show, for the price a decent bottle.
Red
Another from a range that has more plusses than misses, dark fresh blackcurrant fruit decent mouthful and some length, not for keeping but this could probably do with a few months in bottle as very fresh.
Red
Nice ruby colour no fading, not overstrong berry nose with some blackcurrant, dry medium mouthful , some acidity keeps it fresh, not a complicated wine but well made and good value.
Red
Very dark, not to much on the nose despite some hours in decanter, well integrated good mouthfull of dark berry fruits quite long, a very good bottle from a reliable top producer but not much to it, quite simple.
Red
Picked up when in the supermarket for something else, a curiosity that I thought worth a punt, sadly it was cooked, probably as it had stood unwanted by some lights, my fault , I have sampled the grape in the past a full on red in the Aus fashion, but this was not to be.
White - Sparkling
A nice bready nose with some stone fruit tones, fairly full in the mouth for an English sparkler refreshing acidity, a decent bottle in a class that is becoming quite competitive.
White
Bacchus the English SB lookalike and taste a like so preferred by English vineyards has recently with the better weather started to get its act together, nice aromatics lemon, and a grapefruit deeper than SB in this case create a nice mouthful, fresh good acidity.
But the price is above the quality a problem with most of English still wines, nice bottle though.
