Pleasant. Interesting sidenote: my wife did not know what I had poured when i brought her a glass and she immediately said she smelled smokiness! I did not get it on my first sniff and drink, but got a very very subtle smoke on the nose. Not offputting, but definitely there when looking for it. Overall a decent Oregon Pinot, and I am glad to support (in a very small way) the cause.

Muted, brickish color upon initial pour, color actually deepened with some air (!?!). Funky nose that blew off in about 10 minutes of air. Nose began to develop after time in glass and intermittent swirling.
Not a great wine, but certainly holding up pretty well for 24 year old wine.

Soft on palate (lacks prominent acidity) and subdued on the nose, but overall a pleasant quaffer.

Showing its age, but not in a bad way - just slightly less bright fruit flavors. Definitely a more complex wine than I expected. Lingering, intriguing finish.

Big wine, big fruit, not overtly oaky. Will last at least another 3-5 years.

Still some serious oak but serious underlying fruit. Give it some more time or serious time to air in a decanter. On the second and on my very last sip it opened up beautifully. Made me regret that I had not let it air for a good bit. Unfortunately it was my last bottle.

Super fine bead. Very nice apple on the nose. Tastes like an aged champagne. Not overly complex, but a lingering finish. A couple years left, but it will slowly lose freshness on nose and palate.

Somewhat simplistic, not very distinctive or complex, but pleasant straightforward bubbly. Crisp and clean on the palate and finsh. I think there are numerous less expensive sparklers (Champagne and domestic) that offer more.

A solid champagne. Nothing stands out but overall balanced, nice color, steady fine bead, touch of bread, nice citrous tang.

Oak subsided pretty quickly after a couple minutes in the glass. Blackberries and plum with subtle chocolate notes. Nice complexity and a medium long finish. In a good place but could easily last 5 years or more without significant degradation.

Fresh on the palate with mostly red and some black fruit aromas. I can't see what more aging might improve. Drink up and enjoy.

Still going strong. Almost a cinnamon note on the nose and back palate. Red and (mostly) black fruit still prominent - not what I would call bright nor muted - mature? No hurry to consume it but I would say it will begin a slow decline in the fruit department. However, I expect it will last several more years before reaching a "past its prime"point.

Nice apple on the nose. Well balanced. Lazy bead - mine was bought in 2013, but reasonably lively. Acidity is present but not assertive. Overall we really enjoyed it.

Still fresh with deep dark-fruits on the nose. Silky on the palate. Medium length on the finish.

I know, the extracted flavors are passe, but I still enjoy this style every now and then.

Classic KB style. Big fruit, big alcohol (for a PN) but not hot. Soft, but not flabby on the palate. Finish didn't seem to last as long as I recall from other bottles. Still a pretty impressive wine when you are in the mood for this style.

Opened this magnum as an aperitif for OTBN 2017. No pop from cork, dark straw color. Not much on the nose. Held on to this too long. Not unpleasant, but tired and certainly did not evoke a sense of celebration.

Brought this magnum to celebrate a friend's retirement. Slightly past its prime (oxidized?) - orangey-yellow color, fine but slightly lazy beads, apple aromas. Everyone said they liked it, but I probably held on to this too long.

Complex , brioche with some citrus (lemony) overtones. Nice balance with the complexity. Multiple fine and active beads. I really like the style on the palate. Would hold up to some complex foods.

I really liked this with a steak. Balanced, tart red berries, slight tannic edge, nice finish. Only one more left. Can easily last a few more years.

Better than the previous bottle (a week or so ago) but still past its prime. Funkiness blew off quicker with this bottle. Unfortunately the fruit fades very quickly and within the hour faded to a memory. I remember really liking this when I tasted and bought it. I just should have drank it within a year or two of purchase.

Brett was less prominent than the 2001 CdP I opened just prior to opening this. Yes I know this is way past its drinking window. Barnyard nose is still too prominent for me to enjoy. Barely drinkable (for me). I just don't get that some think it is a good thing. More for "them."

Reminds me of why I love PS so much - especially from Biale. Dense, deep and inky in the glass. Smooth tannins, fruit is a bit shy at first, but opens up to a dark fruit with a waft of blueberry on the nose. Expansive and long on the palate and finish. Glad I still have two more bottles. No hurry - I think it has at least another decade left in it.

Nicely balanced, tannins are restrained. Fruit is dark berrieswith a hint of cassis. Wide and long on the palate. I can't imagine it will get much better. If you have it, drink it and enjoy it it. Thank you Merrill.

If anyone has doubts that a Virginia wine "can't hang" after 10 years in the cellar - this wine shouts "in your face!" This could easily last another 5-7 years or more. Oak is still prominent but not overwhelming. Secondary malo is there without imparting a sickening butteriness. Lingering and complex length and finish. Wish I had another bottle to try in another 5-7 years. I find it fascinating.

Reminds me of why I like CF. Hitting on all cylinders. Still some oak on the nose and palate - could easily go for another couple years. Nice, well balanced nose and on the palate. Intriguing and complex with a slight pepperiness. Medium to long finish. Went well with some old fashioned Delmonico steaks sourced from a small Pennsylvania butcher shop.

Distinct apple overtones, very reticent citrus notes. Have had it for a few years. Darker straw color, fine but somewhat lazy bead (because it is older?). Has an aged complexity to it. Better with food than as an aperitif.

Decant, decant, decant. Lots of oak. Once it gets some air the fruit holds up nicely to the wood. Give it 3-5 years for everything to come together more cohesively. I think this will evolve nicely.

Superfine bead, subtle nose, but but grows big on the palate. As it warms, it really fills out on the palate with brioche (interestingly absent in the nose) and just a touch of lemon which eases into a nice, very long, lingering finish. Sad that this is my last bottle. Lots of life left Bottled in 2010.

Dianne said it was a bit oaky. I thought it was fine. I pegged it as a rhone blend then read the label. Mostly Semillion with a little Muscadelle. Fairly dry with no discernable residual sugar. I found it complex and big on the palate with a fairly long finish and think it would go great with creamy pasta dish.

A little musty upon opening but blew off pretty quickly. This candied cherries aroma appeared and was simply amazing from a 20 year old wine. Taste was not up to the nose, but still nice. A little astringent but fruit was still trying to poke through. Second day after opening more of the fruit came through and the nose was still quite amazing with candied cherry and acidity less prominent. I thought my other bottle was corked, but CT says I still have a bottle. I may have to share it if I in fact still have a bottle.

Still fresh, not overly complex, but nice balance on nose and palate. Despite 78% grenache, either the blending or the grenache grape source has virtually eliminated any typical grenache earthiness (which my wife hates with a passion). Nice length. Has the stuffing to last many more years.
