2016 Azienda Agricola Montevertine Le Pergole Torte Toscana IGT Sangiovese
No rating as it seems too early to assess how this wine will unfold. However, it seems extremely promising.
This was my first experience with Pergole Torte and it has not much in common with the other bottlings from this beloved house.
This wine is quite deep in color. The nose is rather muted and far from the floral notes I usually get in other wines from Montevertine. The palate is brooding, structured and with a modern sweetness to the fruit that is always immediately picked up by a fine though solid streak of acidity. It never feels heavy and is rather long.
Drank over 3 days, this wine didn't budge one bit, never felt altered and ever so slightly opened on day 2.
This is a haunting, mysterious wine that I can't wait to taste in 5, 10 and 15 years. I'm buying more.

N.V. Château Palmer Historical XIXth Century Blend L.20.10. Vin de Table Français Red Blend
60 years of Chateau Palmer (Torali): Very cool to taste something so unique. The Syrah certainly gives a deeper color to the wine with subtle purple hues. The wine seemed fuller, more floral and meaty as well, with a silky texture. This drinks very well right now and may have some upside from here.

I always like this wine, I love the quality of the fruit here, it's almost fleshy, and something I only get in Napa from top producers. Add a great texture and mouthfeel, silky, not sugary, fresh, balanced and very inviting. Napa with a touch of Bordeaux. Absolute pleasure.

2000 Dunn Vineyards Cabernet Sauvignon Howell Mountain

Medicinal red fruit aromas. lots of floral/pollen sweetness on the nose too. super fresh palate, medium minus tannin. The medicinal red fruit strays close to band-aid and is decidedly barnyard too. maybe not the most pristine/representative Dunn Howell, but still enjoyable all around. Thanks JB!

2/9/22, 2:07 PM - I agree that it was odd to me, not what I expected, and nothing compared to a 2016 I had after that. Maybe a vintage effect? 2000 wasn't the best vintage in Napa.

2015 Alain Verset Cornas Syrah

Good wine but it’s definitely not Allemand, Clape or even Vincent Paris. It doesn’t have the aromatic intensity, the meatiness, the density and rustic edges I’m looking for in the best Cornas. This was quite polished and kind of one-dimensional. Overall a good wine, well made, but not a head turner.
