VERY strange nose--smelled almost like a mint garden. And the taste was heavy with chocolate. Other folks at the table liked it much more than I did--I thought it drank fine, nice and big like a Zin should be. But even over two hours that nose was the same, and it was a fragrance I've never smelled in a wine in my life.

Great nose, and a nice, soft wine. This bottle, a 2000, was ready for drinking but will certainly have a much longer shelf life.

I was worried about this one. Bought it at a Bon Appetit auction in Las Vegas years ago and have been carrying it around without any confidence it would drink well. In fact, when I opened it, I was prepared for it to have gone bad. But we opened it at Dan Buettner's house early in Sept. '07 at a party for the fund-raising committee for the Butterball event. And it was VERY drinkable. Rough edges gone, nice fruit, nice acid. All in all, a pleasant surprise. And the fact it was a 5-litre bottle added some festivity to the party--always fun to pour wine from a gigantic bottle.

Drank with Williams and Levys at Alma on a lovely, warm night, 17 Sept 07. Scallops and a dessert of chevre pastry with apple paired nicely. Long, sexy and smooth, this wine is what Burgundy is all about. One more bottle left; I'll approach it with great respect.

Drank this lovely bottle at a dinner with the Williams and the Levys at Alma on Sept. 17, 2007. Paired with buffalo carpaccio as a starter and scallops as a main dish, and the Burgundy was the star of the evening. Stu Williams remarked, "This is a wine to that stops you and make you takes notice." Warm, smooth and mature--this was a wine worth waiting 15 years to drink.
