Pnp. Slightly fragrant nose. Red fruits. Light bodied with moderate acidity. Easy simple drinker, lacking stuffing. Short finish. Didn't compliment breaded shrimp dinner very well but did evolve and improve in the glass.

Dark. Mildly floral. Black fruits and plum. Smooth, medium body with powdery tannins. Missing some stuffing in the middle. It seemingly had richer flavor/body when poured direct from the bottle vs. first half that was decanted (oxygen killed it). Won't decant remaining and I don't expect future improvement. 2009 Les Pagodes de Cos blew it away.

Went well with a pasta dish. Previous bottle had mild cork taint.

Dark garnet. Nicely aromatic. Palate of black fruits, plum, some graphite and cigar box. Very smooth, balanced with integrated tannins and a medium length finish. Superb second wine. Last of a six-pack I've been consuming over the years and it is in it's prime now. One hour decant. Paired well with buttered snow crab legs.

Dark. Black fruits and earth. Decanted for two hours. Not long enough as it was initially closed and tight. Opened up beautifully over the course of a grilled steak dinner. Gorgeous fruit, rich and well balanced with powdery tannins and a long finish.

Dark garnet. Black and blue berries, mild spice. Medium/full body. Smooth and balanced with integrated tannins and medium length finish. I expected a more mouth-coating fullness (used to big Paso Robles Syrahs). Ox for two hours, paired well with shrimp dish. Seemingly richer on the second day.

Dark. Somewhat muted nose. Red and blackberries. Sweet fruit (sweeter than I prefer) offset by good acidity and firm tannins. Lacked texture up front but smooth with a long finish. There are better (drier) Cabs in this price range to go with the filet mignon with which this was paired.

Short decant. Muted nose. Rusticity and acidity diminished vs. previous taste Apr 2018. Also more balanced and smooth. No second day taste as I consumed the entire bottle day one! That in itself reflects a very favorable opinion.

I'm in agreement with the more recent reviews below. This wine is still young and improves significantly on the second day. Throwing some sediment but not as much as other vintages. Not quite as good as the '93 and '99 Renaissance Cabs, but very good, especially for the price.

I'm slowly working my way through several mixed cases of suggested Renaissance Cabs (1993-2002) purchased during the half off sale a few years ago. This 1994 is a standout. Purple with slight bricking. Red/blue fruits with some tobacco notes. Smooth and settled. Minerality/acid is in better balance, less angular than other vintages. Medium body, integrated tannins and medium length finish. Throwing sediment but less than other younger vintages. Delightful with spaghetti dinner.
