Beautiful old Burgundy. Smooth, with great balance and mature strawberry fruit, a little smoke and a touch of mushroom/ pine needle. Beautiful.

dark, a little sweet but not overwhelmingly so. Good balance. Blackberry. back currant. A little plum. Lively tannin. Garrigue; juniper, thyme, lavender, in abundance.

As good as any inexpensive Mourvedre I've had. Great buy. Not Bandol, but a little more approachable and 30% to 50% of the price of the entry-level Pradeaux, Gros Nore, Pibarnon or Tempier.

This is a beautiful syrah in the beginning of it's drinking window.

Almost flawed. There's decline here, and the overwhelming flavor is must, rust? Some combination of the two with a slight chemical, saline quality. That said, it's drinkable on day 2 but a disappointment with this pedigree.

Very interesting. It's been years since I tried it and it unusual. There's dark fruit, but a medium body.

Unbelievable! What a great wine with some age, still fresh with vivid red fruit and just the right amount of sweetness.

Really nice blend. I feared it would be beyond it's drinking window, but it's very nice. Medium to light body. Black Tea. Forest floor. Bricking. Light cherry. A little sweet.

Beautiful. Weird. I had this wine, this vintage, 10 years ago. I thought it was a great blend that had not acclimated yet. it's nowhere near dead, and it's smooth. Bordeaux depth with Italian flavor.

I noticed that this bottle - I've had it for a while - had some seepage and a little lower fill than some of the other Beaucastels from the same time-period.

Absolutely beautiful. This is one of the best wine's I've ever had; smooooooth, still-young, dark, stinky, with great balance and flavor; blackberries, mushrooms, cola, and Turkish spice.

This was a nice find. It was definitely older and a little oxidized, but enjoyable to drink with good structure and surprising fruit. It was described by a few people at dinner as peppery and there was a decent amount of sediment.

This is a nicely aged syrah, light on the palate, but with pleasant dark fruit, a little smoke and a good core of acid. Really opened up with food; roast duck, lush and sweet against the savory fat. I'd say it's time to drink but I enjoyed it now.

This was already drinking very well, but could end up being as good as many of the more recent excellent vintages, like 2010, 2007, 2001, and 2000. While these often take years to come together and many more to round into adult shape, it's already fairly well integrated and the fruit and alchocol, while prominent, are in balance.

I'm not sure if it was the bottle itself or if this hot vintage is a little played out at 13 years. It was still very good, but with more acid up-front. Over time, it fleshed out and became quite good, especially with food.

This was a nice surprise, to find a reasonable priced St Joseph and then for it to be so good. While clearly young, it had many of the hallmarks of good French Syrah; dark smoky blackberry fruit, white pepper, fresh herbs.

Wow. This is the best Sagrantino - besides the Bea - that I have ever had. It's a beast - purple on the edges and black in the middle. Wild herbs and licorice n the nose. Wild thyme, smoked black pepper, slightly under-ripe blackberries and campfire ash on the palate. The most memorable new wine I've had in years.
