Oh I really expected to like this. Jumilla, red blend with monastrell, nice label. Gave it three days, lots of air, but it never opened up.

OK, I did not like their rosé at all, bit this is crisp and textured with a light to medium body. Bottle disappeared quickly. Doesn't draw attention to itself but a great dinner wine.

First taste is pruny and a little sour. After some air it develops better fruit but barely.

Very nice, full of fruit, ripe and dry, rich body. Followed up by strong, clean acidity and tannins. Interesting spice on the nose. Well, day 2 is not so great. No more fruit, a little flat and tart. Drink this one right away.

I was expecting more from this. It wasn't bad, but I missed fruit and wood and really much to distinguish it.

Medium to dark, fairly translucent. A little menthol, metal, and heat on the first nose. Palate a little thick and almost sweet at first. Tightens up fairly quickly, with stronger tannins and almost enough acidity. A little thin on flavor but let's give it some time. Day 2, definitely leaner and more satisfyingly tart, but still not a lot of flavor. I really would rather be drinking the Renzo Masi from a couple of weeks ago.

First sensation is astringent and almost bitter but that blows off quickly. Then it went flat, with little flavor or texture.

Ooh! Rich dark cherry and spicy oak right out of the gate. Very flavorful through day 2, and a full range of flavor and textures. Fruit tastes both ripe and tart. Definitely want to try this again.

Not sure. Nose has metallic overtones that I don't love. Not a lot of fruit. Day 2 was much better. Rich dark fruit, good amount of acidity. Definitely let this one breathe.

Dark, somewhat opaque. Nose has a little metal at the back of the throat. A little bitter at first. Day 2 a little juicier and more fruit, but still kind of thin.

Takes time to open up, starts flat and stark with heavy tannins. After a long while, dark fruit flavors surface, berries that are not yet sweet. Not as interesting as the last time I had this.

Very nice balance of fruit, body, and finish. Fragrant nose of dark and red fruits. Rich, full mouth feel that finishes with good tannin-acid balance. Lost a couple of points for a drab day 2...lost all its fruit freshness.

Straw colored and full bodied, low alcohol 11.5%. Interesting combination of flavors and textures: honey at the core, but finishes clean. Not tropical fruits, but white peach or dry green grape. Slightly sweet, but not overwhelmingly so. Bumping up a point for maintaining flavor over a couple of days.

First sip was "cough syrup!" -- thick, fruity, a little sweet, a little spicy. Day 2 thinned out a little, still syrupy on the palate, and spicy on the back of the tongue and throat. Not unpleasant, but a little too sweet for me.

Dark red, not translucent. Muted nose, and palate has a watery finish. It's not bad, I don't hate it. But not much flavor or texture.

Translucent, shiny dark red. Wonderful combination of tart cherry and oak, bouquet and palate. A little bit of menthol high and back of the palate. Body is relatively light, and the bottle emptied quickly.

Dark ruby to purple, no lip to speak of. After the heat blows off, there is plum, black cherry, and a touch of savoriness, maybe some wood. Body is medium plus. Palate is a little muffled behind the medium plus. Needs more time: slow down with this one. Feels a little soft and hidden I'm intrigued and curious about what kind of flavors will emerge, later. Well, Day 2 didn't release a bunch of new flavor, not really. The body did tighten up, though, with stronger acidity and more mouth watering finish.

Salmon pink. A little more floral than I usually like, but not overwhelming. Mostly fresh fruit, bouquet and palate. Crisp apples? White peaches? Nice mouth watering acidity. Almost a fizzy finish. What I really appreciate is 12.5% alcohol, easy on the head.

Pale pale yellow. Strongest element is citrus, specifically lemon on the palate and into the finish. Very tasty, crisp, clean and lemony. Went very well with Korean dinner.

Clear, dark red. Nose is subdued. Palate is red fruit, not too ripe, with good tart acidity. Tannins balance out nicely. Delicious wine, with air a little more oak and spice, but that's not the dominant theme here.

Mixed review. Out of the bottle it was flat and flavorless. Made me angry. Day 2 the body and texture were quite nice, for a good long while. Good compliment to a well spiced dinner. Not rich or fruity, not a lot of oak So...it was fine? Give it a lot of air first?

Ok not the gewurztraminer I was expecting. In fact this wine made me nervous. It was unsettled out of the bottle: toast and then almond and then apricot and then honey and then honey melon, and sweet Jesus I had to set it aside and switch to Merlot for a little while to calm down. Also this weird aftertaste like a hospital ward (band aid, chemical something) that wafts in and then it's gone. Even a breath of onions. Not zippy, not citrusy, not clean nor sharp nor dry. No. Full of halftastes and swirling flavors. I should be excited? This is an adventure? Day 2, it has settled down now: lychee it is. Semisweet.

This one shifted character pretty dramatically. Out of the bottle it was sweet and round, almost sticky, a little hot in the nose. Not my favorite. But then, as dinner progressed, it grew some ribs, some nice acidity and corresponding tannins. Not a fragrant wine, not much oak or spice, but good structure with a little bit of air. Day 2 is solid.

Pale pale pink orange. Wonderfully dry, almost severe, but with enough fruit and balance to be delicious. Day 2 still has nice grippy structure, very refreshing and clean, great with spicy dinner.

Dark red to ruby. Warm rich nose and palate. Delicious balance of wood and juice, subtle lingering tartness under the rich oak. Love this. Day 2 is even better: the wood has a few more notes to it, and the the finish is longer, less subtle.

Wow. This one has character. Light clear ruby in the glass. But the palate is full and the flavors are rich. Red and dark fruit, almost meaty texture. The nose gets spicier over time. Good structure, grippy finish. Very nice. Still delicious on day 2.

Ok this is the real deal. This reminds me of the delicious tinto in the unmarked bottles that accompanies the prix fixe meals in Spain. Lots of ripe fruit, but also good solid tannins and acidity to keep the mouth watering. Very clean profile: no overripe fruit, no bitterness, no over-oak. Awesome wine, and a fantastic deal at 13 for a full liter.

Oh very ripe fruit. A lot of fruit and very ripe. Almost sweet but from very very ripe almost over ripe fruit. Almost tomato or banana, but not quite. Good firm tannin and acid, though, to keep it structured. Not much spice or anything like that. So. Not what I'm usually into, but it works, on its own terms. Day 2 is consistent.

Nose has a lot of fruit: dark plum, almost prune. Palate confirms, with balanced acid/tannin. Not very much spice, especially compared to the Toro I had most recently.

I've had this several times now, but only took notes once for the 2015. This bottle doesn't have the leather or anise that I tasted in that one. On the other hand, this one doesn't have the sour moments of the 2015.

Day 2 is fine, but no new development.

Dark purple, fairly translucent. Nose is a little hot, spicy. Rich and medium to heavy body. Palate is very very nice, balance of oak and brightness and even savory notes. Could drink this all night. Day 2 still strong, but needs oxygen to open up.

Nose has fruit: dark grape and plum. Palate is bright, almost tart. Then the spice: fragrant wood, leather. I haven't tasted this kind of wine in a long time, and I miss it. Refreshing and oaky; layered but not heavy. Day 2 is still bright but less oaky. Fewer layers of flavor, but the right ones for a spicy dinner.

Clean and fresh. Mustiness blows off quickly, and the palate remains fresh. Some fruits, but also some mineral to balance. Not very citrusy, not tropical, not flowery, not spicy, not almondy.

Translucent ruby red. Fresh, tart, juicy. Went very well with dinner. I had low expectations and was pleasantly surprised. At 13% it's easy to drink throughout dinner and beyond. Day 2, still fresh and flavorful, and gone too soon. May have to revisit!
