pretty blah. Grippy tannins, which still have quite a bit in them, but fruit is dead and flat. I wonder if I got a bad bottle/it was cooked in shipping.

11/9/20, 8:17 AM - you may have opened it too soon if it was shipped via ups or fed-ex. i've had several bottles experience bottle shock for 1-3 weeks when getting the 'TLC' from UPS/FedEx transit. I recommend 3+ weeks of rest post-shipping to friends to let the wine calm down.

    Hope the rest improves!

2017 Kosta Browne Pinot Noir Keefer Ranch Vineyard Russian River Valley

This is a nice pinot, but definitely not worth the $128 price tag. The 2016 Kistler Russian River Pinot for $60 is actually a better wine and for 1/2 the price. I've had Kosta Browne Pinot and Chardonnays, and for the money, I have not been impressed. This wine is just okay. I would not want seconds. The acidity is high, complexity is low, the the fruit is medium. I would describe the wine as medium bodied with lots of acidity--almost sour. I almost feel that as I am drinking it, I am inducing a headache.

9/22/20, 1:22 PM - Are you sure your bottle wasn't corked (although I'd be surprised if it was) or experiencing bottleshock? Keefer has been a gold-standard favorite of mine for a few years in a row, although admittedly, I have not opened a 2017 yet.

Although from the sound of it you may just not like KB wines in general, which is also totally fine and your opinion.

2017 Turley Zinfandel Heminway Vineyard Napa Valley

I have taken over 1,000 notes in CT, and I have never written anything like this. Usually I am very matter of fact. The 2017 Heminway was a rock star, and it started signing to me during the first sip. The bottle was one of the best Turleys that I have ever imbibed, and I have consumed easily over two hundred bottles. I picked up a lot of blueberry, and some subtle white pepper. The wine was balanced... just perfect. I actually would have guessed Syrah. Anyway, I am going to contact the winery to see if more is available.

    Delicious.
