Oh man is this good. Solid winemaking. The nose was a little reticent with hints of cherry and cigar box notes but the palate shines with vibrant acidity on a dark cherry and red plum basis. Long tannic finish. Give it another 3 years to hit its stride but very enjoyable now with a small decant. Great value

Too much heat on the nose which while it subsided Detracted from the underlying fruit. Ok wine but disappointed from the disjointed alcohol.
Red
Dark coffee, Smoke, cassis, black cherry and licorice notes these replay on the palate. Opens up with some more blackberry and cassis notes but framed by a medium bodied structure with low acidity but enough to keep it fresh. The vintage characteristics keep it from going too over the top. Lovely wine. 93-94. Will keep my other bottle gif 3 more years but with a decant, this is drinking very well right now.

Perfectly aged with smoke, tobacco and a sweet cherry and blackberry note on the nose and palate. While it has the stuffing last, it is drinking very well right now do why wait. Medium limb finish.

Lots of morello cherry and herb notes of the nose and palate. Although muted and closed, there is tremendous elegance and body underlying all the structure in this full bodied wine. This is a modern Chianti that will need time to show its stuff. Revisit in 4-5 years. 91

Solid. Nice nose of tropical fruit like peach and pineapple with some green apple in for the mix. Palate is well balanced with medium plus acidity on a nice slightly Smokey finish. Finish was rather short for a grand cru Riesling but who’s complaining at this price.

Beautiful dark blood red colour with magenta on the rims. Nose of dark ripe cherries (almost overripe but by no means detracting) and tobacco. Palate is full bodied with black plums and ripe cherries with hints of vanilla. Despite it showing the ripe and hot vintage that was 2009, this wine shows beautiful elegance and balance which is what I look for in a Bordeaux. A little yoing but should develop nicely over the next 5 years. 92+

Innocuous palate and slightly minerally nose with hints of white peach and honey. Ok. But not more than that. Much more interesting wines for the price. Too bad because I love cvne wines.

Either still too young or too modern and singular. Lacks a bit of character. Will keep my remaining bottles for another 3-5 years and see what happens.

Very pure, elegant dark red colour with a restrained nose but with some coaxing produced scents of iodine, blackberries, and strawberry rhubarb. The palate is very clean, pure with lots of glycerine but packing lots of tannins and structure for the long haul. Won't open another bottle for another 5-8 years as this needs time to settle and open up with time. 92+ for now. This will become something special with time.

Dark cedar and slight Smokey nose with blackberries and some spicy plum and cherry notes. The palate is very refined with gobs of dark fruit and decent acidity for a rather hot vintage. Although pleasurable, I’d still age this another 3-5 years to get it at its peak. But if you have a couple bottles, no crime in opening it now. No2 of Winespectators top 100 wines of the year for 2012.

Red currant, red plum and some cherries notes with vibrant acidity that make this feel more Burgundian than Bordeaux. While this can age, it is so apropos to drink right now. Medium finish.

Better than the 2017 in my opinion and that is no small feat. Orange rim with apricot flavours on the nose and palate. Stunning value.

Stunning value. Pear and melon notes framed by floral notes abound on the nose and palate. Missing a little acidity in my opinion but it doesn’t detract from a overall beautiful texture and velvety mouth feel. A good vintage for this wine

Stunning. No comparison to when it was young. Velvety ripe plum and cedar notes on the nose and replays on the palate. Long finish. In its drinking window.

Dark wine brooding one with camphor, blackberries, dark plums on the palate. Very well made and a long finish. The nose was reticent at first and it wasn’t as expressive as the palate. Hopefully more bottle age will change this.

Solid. Beautiful fresh bing cherry aromas on the palate with hints of earth. The palate has more bing cherries with nice acidity on a long finish. This is on point and while it will last, it is ready to drink. While you can feel the alcohol, it is well integrated and does not detract from the wine. Very enjoyable.

Dark red cherry notes on the nose with replays on the palate with some sweet oak notes and cloves. The good level of acidity keeps things fresh. Long finish. Much more accessible compared to the 2004 and 2001 vintages

Very nice but not as lively or fresh as the two bottles I had some months ago. Maybe in a dull phase.

Although still dark, this has beautiful notes of dark cherry and sweet black plums and vanilla notes on the nose. Full bodied and entering its drinking window with some tertiary notes. I’d open the next one in 4-6 years for now. Long finish but needs more time to smooth out. Very nice.

As far as modestly priced millemisé champagnes go, this is excellent and ready and good to go. Lovely pear and quince notes with very fine bubbles with a slight nutty and buttery finish. I would have preferred more crisp acidity but again it’s a 2007 and don’t think it will gain that much in complexity but will definitely last quite some time.

Solid. Very sweet cherry and cheesecake in the nose with good amounts of vanilla and oak treatment but for God’s sake people, this is rioja and this is Spain! Rather light to medium bodied on more morello cherry notes with a very acidity and chunky tannins that indicate more bottle time is needed. I’ve had the 1964 and the 1970(phenomenal) and the 1994 and 2005 vintages which admittedly were all superior to this vintage but nevertheless it still remains a very good vintage at a good price of $28 at the SAQ. Long finish. Will develop nicely in the next 5-7 years.

Beautiful nose of Morello cherry, dark plum and blackberry and hints of bell pepper. Decent oak treatment with a medium acidity and a nice tannic bite on the long finish. This tastes and smell like an aged Bordeaux but with more fruit in it. A steal at 26.60 at the saq. Not for people who like modern over oaked wines

This Greek copy of a Northern rhone(92% Syrah and 8% viogner) was truly sublime. Very dark colour, almost black with grape and some blackcurrent and plum notes. Very brooding and it clearly was opened a little early. Needs another 5-8 years before becoming something special. Long finish.

This still has development potential even at 25 years of age. Nice dark cherry and tobacco and sweet oak on the nose with vanilla hints with deep brooding dark cherry and tobacco hints on the nose. This is elegance personified in a wine Still muscular and aging quite nicely. May improve slightly over the next 5 years but sublime right now 94+

Solid and pristine bottle for 52 year old wine. The cork was fully saturated and was actually quite moveable prior to opening. I had actually put wax around cork in order to make it more of an airtight seal a couple months ago. The wine was surprisingly dark with magenta on the rims with lots of tobacco and cranberry notes on both the pallate and the nose. Still fresh and it has a medium to short vanilla and cranberry finish. Great bottle.

Solid. Ripe fruit, jet black notes of blackberry and some dark plum notes with chocolate hints on the nose with blackberry and plum on the palate. Very vibrant freshness on the palate hiding a concealed mass of fruit that needs time to flesh out and that 2 hours in the glass didn't reveal. Could gain more points in the future. Long finish. This is not an original or unique wine but well made and a nice crowd pleaser without being over the top despite its richness and it maintains some balance and elegance.

This is obviously very young but has a lot of potential. It is elegant and well structured with a nice finish. Lots of red fruit like cranberry, plum and dark cherries on the nose with some raspberry and nose replays on the palate. Refreshing acidity and yet has a long deep blackberry and red plums aftertaste. Give this another 6-8 years before it begins to sing.

This was Pegau but a fleshy ripe sweet version of the wine showcasing a hot and ripe vintage. Sweet blackberry and plum notes on the nose with similar replays on the palate with hints of liquorice, spice, herbs de Provence and other green herbs interlaced throughout the wine. Medium to low acidity but can age more methinks.

The nose is a bit neutered and there was a lot of heat on the nose. After 1 to 2 hours of decanting, started to Blossom with kirch liqueur and ripe blackberry notes. This still struggles to remain balanced despite the heat from the vintage which unfortunately isnt as well integrated as I would’ve liked it to be. Hoping my last two bottles fair better.

Solid. Really nice nose of petrol, lychee and some pineapple notes but the palate was altogether different showing crisp, almost sharp acidity with lemon and honey notes. Lots of glycerin on the aftertaste and I almost thought it might be a bit flabby but I’m hoping that’s just baby fat that time will trim. Medium long finish. A steal for a GC under 30$.

Very unique and distinct wine. Dark yellow or light orange hazy colour, obviously unfiltered with a nice foam reminiscent of a beer. The nose is very refined with hints of rose petals and peach notes. The palate is rather sweet for a semi-effervescent wine but delivers a nice balance between the sweetness and the bubbles. Short finish but who cares. This is simple but very enjoyable. It’s criminal pleasure given the price.

Collaboration of French chef and winemaker which surprisingly is a great joint venture that produced a very good wine. Lovely tropical notes on the nose with hints of flowers and vanilla. The palate is lush but not too oaky or flabby as the acidity is present to keep it fresh. Medium long finish. Would pair with a white baked fish.
Red
Beautiful nose of dark berries and rhubarb with hints of white flowers, cherries and strawberries. This is tightly would and needs 5 -10 more years before showing its stuff. The palate was closed for business but the structure is there to become something special over time.

Dark and brooding but refined with regal class all the way. Structured cedar oak and blackberry notes with hints of vanilla on the full bodied palate. Long finish. This shows the winemaking skill of Chave in a less expensive bottling to his flagship wines.

A little brooding upon opening but slowly showed deep forest floor hints along with licorice, blackberry and dark plum notes. The wine was velvety with low acidity and well integrated alcohol. Devant an hour and serve with a hearty meat dish. Medium long finish. Starting its drinking window now and for the next 3-5 years.

Did not show as well as the previous bottle. I can only assume that this is due to bottle variation. I found the nose muted with an oily and slightly tropical palate. Short finish again muted and lacking anything of substance. Well not corked but I think this is just an off bottle given the first one I had was so much better. I have one last one and see how that goes.

Dark brooding notes of black cherry, cedar and plum permeate through the nose with similar replays on the pallete. This is a modern wine but with a seductive taste that shows quality wine making and delivers immense pleasure. This is so young but will be great in a couple years time. Give it another 5 years and more. Long long plum and cedar finish. 93+

Is there anything this winemaker cannot do well? This is not modern nor a natural wine style but what I call a rustic artisanal winemaker. Loads of blackberries and smoke and leather with blueberries on the nose. Palate a bit more subdued but still full bodied. Very promising but I’d wait 3 years for it to flesh out.
