Light to medium body, nose of bell pepper, olives and black tea. Enjoyable at its price point. From a magnum

Great bottle. Well aged and drinking very smoothly. Fruit still present with some secondary flavors showing as well

Good but not great. This is on the backside of its drinking window. If you have it drink now, holding probably won’t improve it

My first Roy Piper wine, decanted an hour and it was perfect. A little tannin to stick to the really nice mix of red and black fruit. Really easy and enjoyable wine to drink now and clearly made with very good grapes.

Will buy more f I can find it and I am looking forward to seeing what my remaining bottles do with a few years in cellar

Didn't blow me away. Not a lot going on here and that's hard for me to say because I really enjoy Pott's normal style. THis bottle might benefit from 5 years in the bottle but overall it seemed a little disjointed and not in a great spot.

i think this is a 96-97 wine. I am a cab lover and dabble slightly into Pinots and without question this is the best pinot I have had. Well balanced, acidity was perfect, fruit was present but not too sweet like most pinots overall it was exceptional. Maybe a true Cab Lover's Pinot. drink now or hold

Nice wine, night one it was tight and didn't give up much except smoke and tannin's. Night 2 the tannin's faded a little, fruit was smooth and still had a light smoked flavor. Overall a good wine but it could use another 3-5 years in the cellar and that would probably add 3-4 points with some age. hold

Just a really nice wine. Well balanced and extremely smooth, after a 30 minute decant it really opened up, no noticeable tanins but dark fruit still the primary flavor. medium bodied wine

Lots of life left here....a little so I would decant a few hours or wait a few more years but this seems to be built to last. Old world style with some solid dark fruit flavors going strong.

Very nice bottle of wine, nice nose and very smooth. Tannins are there at the beginning but integrated well after 30-45 mins of air. Paired well with spicy creole food at cochon in New Orleans

Great wine, classic dunn with a Boudreaux feel. Damp forest floor, little bell beeper. Very smooth

I love a well aged DC but this one had a funk on it that even a few hours in the decanter couldn't shake off.

I am not a big pinot drinker but this was a fabulous bottle. Well balanced, lots of great fruit but not too sweet. TRB knocked this one out of the park. Fortunately I have a few more bottles and I think this will improve with a little time but there is no shame in popping and pouring this one now.

pop and pour, this was a great bottle of wine. Lots of dark fruit with a hint of chocolate. Velvety smooth and the tanins are extremely well integrated. Just a well balanced bottle of wine.

Plenty of pepper on the finish, a little tight. I decanted for an hour...probably needed 3. Will hold on to my remaining bottles for at least a year. You can tell this is a well made wine.

Still Had some strong tannins and was extremely tight. Decanted for 2 hours and didn't develop much over that time. I would hold this for another 5+ years before I popped again.

The heitz was nice. Clearly a 40 yr old wine and a little tart for my taste. Lots of cherry and some faint eucalyptus. A little leather and old cedar as well. Purchased directly from winery. Corks still in great shape

Lots of good red fruit with a slight hint of cocoa. night 2 was even better to this wine. Really smooth drinking, well balanced and no real hint of tannin or oak in this one. I am a fan.

Took an hour or so to knock the dust off, musty to start and then revealed some secondary flavors..still has some fruit left but god some tobacco and forest floor. pretty nice old wine but if you have this you should drink up soon...not going to make it much farther.

What a really great bottle of wine. Big fruit, candied, sweet but somehow still very balanced. double decanted and took to a restaurant then decanted for an hour before drinking. Happy to have 2 more bottles but will probably hold them for a few more years before drinking.

Cool old bottle of wine, clearly past its prime but still drinkable and enjoyable. A little musty at the start and it needed 45 minutes to knock the dust off. Still a little fruit left, mostly red fruits and well aged. I have one more bottle...it's time to dink up!

Started a little flat but after about an hour it started to really get some energy. Typical Mike Smith dark fruit with good balance. Still had a lot of life left in it but I think this wine is ready to drink now.

Pretty nice little bottle of cab...a little tight and tannic but it opened up over the 2 hours the bottle lasted. In what was supposed to be a tough vintage they made a really good little bottle of wine for a reasonable price, fortunately I have one more left!

What a great wine, huge dark fruit on the nose and on the palate. Brooding and a little chewy this had everything you would love about a new style Cali Cab...the bottle lists 15.1% alcohol but I could not tell at all, the fruit was a little sweet but not overwhelming and it had just enough acid in there to balance it all out.

I liked this wine but it is probably a little too young to drink. I will buy another bottle or 2 and lay it down for 5 years. That being said it clearly a well made wine. good structure and a little acidity to balance out the fruit but I think it needs time to let the tannin's integrate as it had a little too much oak for my taste but I think that goes away with time in the bottle.

Surprisingly tight for a wine that is 32 years old. If you have this bottle I might suggest decanting it for a couple of hours before consuming. It was a pnp for me to celebrate Astros world series win that night and while clearly a great bottle of Heitz martha..more eucalyptus than mint on this one and some great dark fruits. Tannin's are gone but it still felt like this wine was holding back. Could probably last another 10-20 years in your cellar. I wil revisit with a nice decant next time.

same notes as before, great wine but seems to beginning to get a little more tart and cherry than previous bottles. Great wine for a pnp when friends come over and have not had a Napa cab with a little age on it.

Maybe my expectations were too high but this wine did not seem to be anything special. Decanted for a few hours and served with food but this wine left me asking why i paid so much. Clearly a well made wine but it didn't do anything exceptionally well. Yes it was smooth, well integrated but it did not have a long finish, fruit was good but not great. Seems to be a lot of better wines out there for the price point. I will lay my other bottles down for a few years and revisit after they have some age on them and hope that does the trick!

Could definitely taste the similarities to the Maybach in this bottle, lots of nice red fruit but I felt it was a little tight and tanic still. Clearly a well made wine with great structure and a wonderful red fruit profile. This needs a few hours of decant or a few more years in the bottle. I will revisit in a few months with a long decant and repost.

94 for now but big upside here

What a great wine, my first taste of a BV with a little age on it. It really felt like this wine could go another 10 years. Great red fruits, some cherry mixed with some dark fruits perfectly. Time has integrated the tanins and made this wine smooth and a real joy to drink. Great finish that will make you want another glass

This wine does everything right...good structure, nice fruit flavor..great mouth feel and just overall a smooth finish that left me wanting more. This was a pnp with the second half of the bottle sitting in decanter for about an hour before we got to it...it flattened out a little by the end of the night but this wine is great

My first Solaia and while this was an enjoyable wine...very smooth, medium body with a good balance of fruit it just didn't seem to be anything special. Shared with a group of 7 and this wine was in the middle of the pack for everyone. Certainly don't see the value for this price point.

Great bottle of all the stuff Heitz Martha's is known for....eucalyptus and a little mint. Great mix of dark fruit and some forest floor. It's really hard to beat this well aged Martha's. It was a pnp and it did not disappoint.

One of the best structured and most balanced pinot's I have tasted. Great tannins that were well integrated, just enough cherry to make it interesting but not overwhelming. This was a pnp for me but it definitely was better as the night went on and it opened up.
