Garnet. Leafy, peppery syrah nose. A bit underserved on the palate, but true northern Rhone character. Nice mid-week wine, but no more. A slight bitterness on the back end. Drink over the next 4 to 5 years. I liked this a tad better than the last bottle, though the Parker score puzzles me. (86)

2/28/10, 1:29 PM - The Parker and Josh Raynolds scores puzzle me, too. This wine has been tremendously frustrating given those two reviews. Consistently flirting with harsh, vegetal elements, I just am amazed that this is the same wine that Parker called "sumptuous aromas of tapenade, creme de cassis, cherries, and spice. Beautifully-textured, full, and long", and Raynolds said "textbook Northern Rhone syrah, with supple red berry and floral flavors along with a sweet underbrush quality reminiscent of Morey-Saint-Denis. Vibrant and crisp on the silky, gently tannic finish". All I can say is WTF?! Either all this wine got damaged on the way over to the US, or it evolved in the bottle very quickly in a direction that the critics couldn't see. I'd love to know what others think about this. A purchase I regret.
