First bottle pulled with cork apparently having dropped into the wine a long time ago, ullage was 2 inches under the shoulder; looked ok, if rather dark, and tasted like acetone smells. The second bottle was fine, the cork just soaked, and much like the previous, strong color and fruit pleasantly aged.

From memory, we don’t drink that much Hermitage but this seems on the lighter elegant side, with very pretty fruit and balance.

Tonight with pizza and subs, seemed a bit softer fruitier, a little less distinctive but more friendly.

Tried based on enthusiastic recommendations on WB, and not disappointing. Definite black pepper and violets nose, tasted of fully- but not over-ripe syrah, still-fresh tannins, bramble and light dirt. Will try again tonight with pot roast chuck

Our first bottle of this vintage, perhaps a bit riper and softer than usual, but stellar wine as expected.

No problem with this bottle, slightly rustic proper Cote Rotie, enjoyed with Guinness beef pie.

Much as before, medium, 18k gold, slight Jura tang with intense-for-chardonnay vinosity, best not too cold.

Last bottle mirrors our note from 3 years ago, delicious and fun, a bit rustic, with none of poulsard's occasional diluteness. Enjoyed with orange mustard chicken thighs.

From memory, very dark garnet, solid Graves wine with just a bit of still immature tannins on the finish. Enjoyed by all with lamb stew.

From memory, deep garnet, modest sediment, unlike a 2008 previously sound and dark-fruited, still seemingly young with a significant tannic finish which made it slightly tiring. Excellent accompaniment to out sous vide rib eye.

Certainly more friendly than 4+ years ago, nicely matched our lamb chops, probably even more time would have been welcomed.

Medium 14k gold, intense nose of sweet apple, lemon creme, cool laundry, the palate is recognizably chenin, yellow and white fruits, ripe at about the auslese level, with just enough acidity to fully highlight this wine's amazing freshness, lovely long finish. We don't drink enough decades old/demi-sec/Vouvray to truly judge, but this showed no sign of its age other than highly attenuated sweetness and friendly softening.

From memory, like Rieslingfan below notes, this wine was excellently typical of Tondonia, while seeming very young.

From memory, deep garnet to the edges, ripe blackberry and boysenberry nose, thick palate with similar fruit, still lots of rustic tannins, additional acidic finish which somewhat relieved the concentration but also made it a bit hot. Just too much of everything for my taste although a decent complement to our braised short ribs.

Apparently this grape can be vinified white, red, rose, or"amber", and this example is the latter, light, low-alcohol, pinkish tawny, a lovely mix of fruity and savory palate after a reddish nose.

Last bottle of 19 purchased 6 years ago, no discernable change, light and fresh and lightly sweet, pleasant rather than excellent, but fully appropriate as sold. Enjoyed with seared salmon with cucumber salsa.

Lovely, light-bodied but full-flavored nebbiolo, nicely mature while youthfully vibrant. Definitely a step up from the 2006 Sassella Stella Retica Riserva we had a few days ago.

Based on my previous note, this bottle must have been slightly darker, a bit of brassy gold, and also tarter, there is definitely some penetrating acidity beyond "zingy Hermitage". Still very tasty, just a little much for our roast chicken.

Stood 5 weeks and decanted 4 hours of medium sediment, helped by a few hours of air, enjoyable but uninspiring, bottle variation obviously is possible, but in any case their Sizzano was much preferred

From memory, second and last bottle similar to the first of a few years ago. I don't drink enough Bordeaux to comment on the relative quality, but the grape varieties seem authentic and identifiable to me, and the wine was enjoyable and appropos our lamb chops.

Just enough VA to hide what may have been a very nice wine underneath. Pale and slightly cloudy and very low in alcohol, I think this would have been tasty rather than profound but ended up merely palatable with food.

From memory, as expected fuller than a dry German riesling, and also a little less acidic. So the texture and feel is more mainstream while of course the flavors are all of the variety. Tasty, balanced, and not too much for lighter foods. Enjoyed with crab cakes.

Clearly young, and frankly a little rustic, better after a couple of hours open. I think the wine, and this bottle, are fine, just another decade or so would probably help.

Clear strawberry watermelon, sweet fruit candy nose, bright red berry palate with more of that candy, but totally dry, clean finish. Delicious and juicy and nice to look at, not much for contemplation. Perfect for a Friday Zoom happy hour.

Well, I guess 9 more years this is longer a young wine, but certainly a high-quality mature CdP, just my tastes have changed and it seemed a little alcoholic and claustrophobic, and probably best that we drank this as an apertif rather than with dinner. Full-bodied mature grenache, some dirt and old oak, I am told our remaining 2001 should taste better and younger.

Under the capsule there was lots of hard, white crust, so obviously not wine, it just looked like dirt, and the cork was in place and did is job, but was also loose and crumbly. Beyond that, this was probably the best bottle yet (number 11 for us) of this wine, the expected softly tannic and savory maturity topped with fresh sweet red fruit, extremely easy to drink. Enjoyed with a buffet of leftovers.

Indeed, tasted like a very cool climate gamay, lean, low on tannins, and barely-ripe but not green fruit. Excellent fresh and floral nose, red-not-grapey palate, and refreshing rather than tart medium finish. Prefectly fine now, my sense is that a little time will deepen the palate, hopefully leaving the beautiful fragrance intact. As a bonus, pleasantly received by our local civilians.

Pale electric strawberry. The nose is strawberry, too, along with red cherry cream. The palate continues the red fruit, slightly candied, but also a definite savory, almost salty depth, and the finish picks this up. This wine is truly a class distinct from red or white, and while its light character keeps it short of full excellence, it does provide great and easy company to food.

Barely cloudy boysenberry, nose of dark plums, blackberry, black pepper. The palate is much redder, raspberry, wild cherry cough drops, overripe watermelon, and spice, tart fruity finish. Apparently this wine started off as a sort of blanc de noir from the very dark saperavi grape, but the volume was short of filing the qvevri... so it was supplemented with red wine, hence the rose description. It is very vivacious and intense, hiding 14+ percent alcohol very well, and somewhat overpowered our chicken burgers. Second night still plenty going on but a little less startling. I like wines which taste of red but feel like white, so this is right on target for me.

Pale lemon gold, nose of light lemon oil, peach, tropical fruit, the palate is slightly exotic, like lemony viognier crossed with juicy fruit gum, the finish is clean with a little pucker, and pleasingly long. A blend of brought-in and domain grapes, no way of telling what was the intent but very tasty to me

From memory, as others have noted a beguiling and super-complex wine, changed with temperature, air, several days of tasting, best not too cold. Almost too intense for most food, offset with huge freshening acidity. Totally dry overripe and slightly-botrytised chenin blanc, genuinely unique.

Second day and I am not sure if this bottle is right. I am pretty insensitive to cork taint, but I know what it is and think it is in play here. Almost absent nose except some mustiness, palate solid but lacking fruit, identifiable as not-post-mature red wine but not as syrah. Somewhat better after lots of air.

Just at the edge of over-ripe and-holic, i understand that as any Ridge this is subtle for zinfandel; while I prefer more like a claret, there is no doubt the quality, ripe but fresh dark berries and stone fruit.

I haven't posted notes, but this and its companion (Falcorubens) have been just as advertised, alarming dark purple fizz belying a lightly tannic and softly fruity refreshing red wine. Served at warmish white wine temperature, enjoyed presently with chicken burgers.
