Subdued smell. Impossibly smooth; velvet-like texture on the palate. Too young of course, but showing fantastic promise.

2013 Tenuta San Guido Sassicaia Bolgheri Sassicaia Red Bordeaux Blend (view label images)
Absolute gem of a wine. On the lighter side for a Sassicaia. Very fresh, round and succulent. Delivers very good already, but should only improve the next 2-5 years. 94-95p.

Full body, round, not too complex, but highly enjoyable. Good pairing for meat and heavier food.

Decanted for 3 hours. On the nose: graphite, currant, cedar box, dark berries, quite cool. Palate: Wonderful citrus, nearly lemon-like, highly usual for a wine. Last time we drank it, in 2019, it tasted pineapple. Despite the high acidity, it still comes across as very balanced. This wine is a trickster; not a perfect wine, but a very, very fun one. It will also keep getting better for at least 10 more years.

2014 Château Hosanna Pomerol Red Bordeaux Blend (view label images)
A deliciously round and fruity wine. Fantastically available already, but still has plenty of room to mature and develop. A "Best buy" at the Norwegian wine monopoly right now.
Red
Wow. A round, fantastic wine. Succulent, fruity on the palate. Long finish. Italian going up against Bordeaux and winning.

2014 Les Forts de Latour Pauillac Red Bordeaux Blend (view label images)
Revisiting this wine after 1 year since last tasting. What a beauty of a wine, with fantastic progression in just one year. Beautifully succulent, with soft, balanced notes. It's not an extremely expressive wine, but Latour seldom is - its strength lies in its unlimited elegance. 94p, trending towards 95p.

2010 Les Forts de Latour Pauillac Red Bordeaux Blend (view label images)
Wow, what a stunner. Open, accessible with ripe, juicy fruit and berries. Bold, with long finish. Drank half a bottle the first evening, then the rest the evening thereafter. Both tastings were great, with maybe the last one excelling (after lots of air). Drinking well now. Not extremely complex, but good at what it does. A thoroughly impressive second wine.

2014 Les Forts de Latour Pauillac Red Bordeaux Blend (view label images)
This is a quite expensive wine; I paid $285 for this specific bottle. But what do you get? A smooth, medium body experience, unmistakenly Latour. Floral on the nose, this is a classic, elegant wine on the palate - with plenty of fresh fruit and berries. Succulent, layered taste. I love it. 93-94p.

2010 Opus One Napa Valley Red Bordeaux Blend (view label images)
Tasted at Isabella London. 30 minute decant, which was a bit too little. This wine has elegant, floral notes, with balanced, Napa-style sweetness. Unmistakenly Opus One, an American classic. Still many years ahead of it.

One of the best wines I've ever had. So silky smooth, elegant, like a piano symphony in wine. Balanced, elegant, beautiful, harmonious. A more or less a perfect wine. And with still years ahead of it.

Tasted after 15 minutes decant. A good, but simple wine. Subdued, both on the nose and palate. Someone turned the volume down. Pencil shavings and wax after taste. Appears to be in drinking window now. 89-90p.

On the nose, oak and leather. Medium body. On the palate, juicy, ripe tannins with long finish. Good acidity. Archtypical Bordeaux, that is drinking well now +5 years. A very good buy for the price (in Norway around 45 USD).

2011 Clos Fourtet St. Émilion Grand Cru Red Bordeaux Blend (view label images)
Medium body. Round, well integrated tannins with juicy palate. Great wine for the price point. Drinking beautifully now and several years into the future.

Is this the real life? Is this just fantasy? Caught in a wine taste, no escape from reality. Open your eyes, look up to the skies and see - Château Mouton Rothschild 2008. The wine is absolutely exquisite. Deep ruby color. Medium to full body, with medium long finish. Black fruits, floral aroma, fruit - but what blows you away is the balance. So perfect. One of the better wines I've ever tasted. Drink now and onwards.

2011 Château Trotanoy Pomerol Red Bordeaux Blend (view label images)
Medium body Bordeaux Pomerol. Cigar box and a touch of herbal mint on the nose. Ruby colored, with medium legs. Rich, succulent taste, full of dark berries and cassis. Beautifully balanced acidity and structure. Very smooth. A stellar wine, drinkable from now and many years into the future.

Subdued blackberry and leather on the nose. On the palate, smooth and full of berries. Long finish, absolutely lovely wine. An excellent Bolgheri, very typical of the region. I remember I visited the farm 5 years ago. Drinks well now, but will be even better in 5-10 years, when the acidity has subdued. Quite young.
Red
Powerful, but smooth, Bordeaux style. Reminiscent of Pomerol. A bit too much alcohol to reach stellar heights, but still a fantastic wine, especially considering the price point. First tasted Sondraia at Poggio Al Tesoro in 2016, it appears to have garnered an international following since. From my understanding, Sondraia grapes are cultivated in the field next to Sassicaia. That may explain, in part, its smoothness, balance and sophistication.

Typical Italian sangiovese from high quality wine maker. Lackluster appearance, with brown edges. Medium body, with lots of luicy notes. Although young, drinks beautifully now. Fantastic wine for what it tries to accomplish. I love Boscarelli.

2015 Château Talbot St. Julien Red Bordeaux Blend (view label images)
Decanted for 2 hours. Very tannic, lots of green apple, way too young and tight to be enjoyed at this point in time. Does show potential for storage, another 6-7 years and this wine will probably be more of a charmer.
Red
Decanted for 30 minutes. Dusty nose. Fantastic, integrated taste. Very smooth, cassis, cedar and dark fruit.
Red
2013 Château Les Vieux Chenes Lussac-St. Émilion Red Bordeaux Blend (view label images)
Earthy, leather nose. Nice, medium body. Quite smooth. Not too complex, but a simple, good wine.
Red
2012 Château Palmer Margaux Red Bordeaux Blend (view label images)
Not decanted. A classic Palmer. So smooth and fruit forward on the palate it was humorously dubbed more of a "smoothie" than a wine. Lots of fruit, integrated smooth tannins and long, lingering taste. Still young, should ideally stay in the bottle for another 5-6 years. 95 points now, with lots of potential.
Red
Decanted for 30 minutes before serving. On the nose, elegant and balanced. Smooth and velvety palate, yet with its fine peppery notes, this is still unmistakably a Spanish wine. A fantastic wine. Still, I wish there was a broader, more complex taste profile. In its quest for elegance, the taste becomes somewhat subdued and muted. 94-95 points.

2005 Château Palmer Margaux Red Bordeaux Blend (view label images)
Second tasting in 3 months. I couldn't forget the last one, so when the opportunity arose, I ordered it again. Smooth, perfectly balanced. Beautifully integrated tannins. Taste for days. I was with a group of friends that hadn't tasted Palmer before; they were, of course, blown away. Highly recommended.

2005 Château Palmer Margaux Red Bordeaux Blend (view label images)
Wow! Last night I had a taste of heaven and unfortunately, I cannot forget how it tasted. Decanted for 1 hour. Extremely powerful, fruity, tutti frutti taste. Velvety palate, perfectly balanced acidity, very smooth. Palmer 2005 doesn't taste like wine, it tastes like a small drip of heaven. 95-96.

2004 Château Chasse-Spleen Moulis en Médoc Red Bordeaux Blend (view label images)
Left in bottle for 1.5 hours. Closed to begin with, then opened up nicely. Classic Bordeaux. Medium body. Very smooth, tutti frutti-esque palate. Not too complex, but highly drinkable. Drink now till 2021. 92-93p.

2000 Château Palmer Margaux Red Bordeaux Blend (view label images)
Typical, but albeit a bit subdued Palmer. Beautiful in the glass. Moderate nose, powerful at the start, but weaker after a while. Velvety, integrated tannins. Lots of punch, with a smooth, long finish. How is this not everybody's favorite producer? Palmer seldom disappoints.

2015 Tenuta di Biserno Biserno Toscana IGT Red Bordeaux Blend (view label images)
Dry cedar nose, beautiful garnet color. Warm, virant taste with oak, leather and berries. Still young, fantastic now, but should amaze in 4-6 years. 91-92p.

Absolutely stunning. Probably the best Tignanello I've ever tasted, and that's not even factoring in its young age. Velvety, elegant, sophisticated and balanced. Leather, cedar, cassis, oak nose; flavourful blackberry, cherry palate. It performs fantastically now; might be a true killer in 5-7 years.
