This was excellent, but I can’t help to think that I liked it even more the first and last time I tried it, about 3-4 years ago. I guess I just like my kabinetts more when they are young and very bright and fresh. Having said that, this was also bright and fresh, long and complex with some slightly spicy notes in the aftertaste. Good acidity and balanced. Can of course be cellared longer but according to my personal preferences it would probably not improve.

Drank over three days. At first it was a bit too much with lots of alcohol and massive fruit. On day three, however it was excellent. Much more balanced, complex and deep. Long, smooth aftertaste. Still quite massive, though.

9/12/17, 9:49 PM - Yes, I resealed the bottle with the original cork and kept the bottle in the fridge overnight. No decanting at any point. By the way, I noted that I gave this wine 92 points in 2009 as part of a 2007 C9dP tasting. My current score doesn't mean the wine isn't as good as 8 years ago, I would say it has improved, but in these 8 years my own preferences have evolved quite a bit (I appreciate elegance more than power nowadays).

Fabulously complex and interesting. I could smell this wine all night long. Ripe tropical fruits that are elegant and, lacking a better describing word, warm, but not at all in an alcoholic kind of way. The tannic aftertaste lingers in the moth for quite a while. Excellent!

The bottle looks hideous but it would be foolish to dismiss this wine on those grounds, as the contents are very good indeed. Remarkably young and fresh! Some oak, yes, but not too much for me. Nice balancing acidity, strawberries, leather. Medium bodied. Great! Will improve.

7/8/15, 3:45 AM - Harley1199, no, this is not the wine of the year for me, and it is pretty far from the greatest rioja ever in my view (based on only those i have drunk, of course). Nevertheless, i think this is a great wine, as also reflected in my score.

Old wine nose with aged Piedmont feel.
Stone fruits, figs, some pomegranate, carrots and a load of iron/blood action. Some wood bark, herbs and liquorice.
Medium bodied, mouth-fillingly composed palate with bright acidity and plentiful melted tannins. Dried stone fruits, earthy notes and blood. Mid-length.
Not a grand oldie, but rather rewarding nonetheless. Great value for under 40€ in Lissabon. Structure-driven, fruit fading.

This has opened up and improved significantly since January 2013 when I had my previous bottle. Complex toasty aromas are emerging and the acidity is very balanced. Drinking quite well right now, but will surely improve.
