Exceptionally dry, pairs well with something rich...we paired it with pizza and it was good with the cheese and sausage. Less impressive on its own, but still very good. 90m air. Medium garnet color.

Cherry, strawberry, tar, parmesan and florality on the nose. Smooth and lush, medium bodied, with intense cherry and echoes of the parmesan on the palate. Spicy through the finish, supported by fine-grained tannins.

I fear this may have passed its prime, or is very close to it. Still enjoyable and reasonably priced. But it feels thin compared to prior tastings.

Either some bottle variation or time hasn't been kind to this Washington Cab/Merlot blend. Dried cherry and strawberry, clay pot and chocolate. Medium-full bodied, sating texture but overall feels a bit thin. Tart red fruit and fine-grained tannins balance nicely.

This has been an interesting wine to watch in the Tasting Notes section while I tried to remain patient. From initial excitement to a period of concern and disappointment, the timing started to seem right to open one and see where we are...and it does not disappoint.

Gave 2h air. Deep ruby color. Slightly shy aromas of raspberry, dust, dark chocolate, and jalapeno. Creamy and smooth, full-bodied. Chalky tannins add a frame for intense raspberry, fig and baking spice on the palate. While robust, retains an elegance about it. A slight medicinal quality in the finish is the one off note.

Not nearly as good as on prior tastings. Not sure if that's bottle variation or that this wine just drinks better when young...future bottles may answer that question. Plum, black cherry, compost, espresso and olive on the nose. Satin texture, succulent dark fruit, with baking spice and espresso. Tannins needed some time to calm down, even with a 1.5h decant.

Aromas of raspberry, smoke, sassafras, sweet tobacco, green peppercorn and graphite. Plum and red fruit on the palate, medium-full bodied, with sinewy tannins. Potential, but it's all a bit awkward and disjointed at the moment.

Medium Ruby/Purple. Offers blackberry, dried cherry, clay pot, black olive, jalapeno and a hint of oak. The promisingly complex bouquet is not backed up on the palate, which is very simple, very primary. All dark cherry with just a touch of anise.

2h air. Medium garnet color. Notes of cherry, plum, clay pot, anise, coffee, jalapeno, menthol. Smooth and satiny feel, medium-full bodied. Succulent cherry flavor really pops amidst a profile that's got saline, dust and pepper, with hints of anise and toffee in the lingering finish. Tannins as well resolved at this stage, offering a good amount of structure that really shows the wine off well. A slightly discordant stalky note in the finish is my one complaint.

This Merlot-heavy Right Bank style blend continues to impress. Deep garnet color. Plum, black currant, cedar, pepper, espresso and cured meat on the nose. Creamy texture, juicy red and black fruit, with hints of cured meat and vanilla and a lingering, peppery finish. Enjoyably dense, the lively red fruit is a pleasant surprise. Chalky tannins are still a bit assertive, more time in cellar or a long decant is advised.

81% Cab Franc, 11% Malbec, 8% Petit Verdot. 18 months in 80% new French oak, bottle aged 2 year before release.

Gave 2h air, perhaps not needed. Inky ruby color. Cherry, smoke, minerals, dried leaves and espresso on the nose. Smooth and medium-bodied, deep and supple. Very alive on the palate: cherry, cranberry, earthy notes and pepper. Tannins remain a bit rustic and chewy and could perhaps still use a couple years to resolve.

But, while Belle Fiore can be a bit hit-or-miss across their catalog, when they hit its a real pleasure and surprise and Siderio tends to be a solid performer.

Wasn't as impressed as I was hoping. Not bad, just not meeting expectations, which were perhaps too lofty on my part. Offers cherry, dark plum, leather, grilled meat, dark chocolate and cardamom. Creamy texture, full-bodied. Cherry and chocolate on the palate, just a bit soft and out of balance with the firm chalky tannins.

Gave this 1.5h air, but I don't think it needs it anymore. Notes of blackberry, raspberry, potting soil, pepper, green olive and tobacco. Smooth and medium-bodied, with dark fruit, hint of raspberry and licorice and an earthy streak. Perhaps a bit raisin-y in the finish, but still a solid value that paired well with a Christmas cioppino.

Last bottle of this excellent value, elegant Pinot Noir. Has remained strong since I first tried it in 2018, and if you have any still in your cellar, it still has life left in it.

Aromas of strawberry, cranberry, mushroom, orange peel, brown sugar and a hint of warm spices. Tart red fruit on the palate, with orange and spice through the mid-palate. Medium-light bodied, silky texture.

Sad to see it go, but thrilled I found it in the first place.

Opening a special bottle for Christmas Eve and this does not disappoint. Gave about 2h air, not entirely sure that was necessary. Inky ruby color. Raspberry, blackberry, dark chocolate, forest floor and white pepper on the nose. Creamy texture, full-bodied, with firm chalky tannins that could still resolve a bit. Deep flavors of red and black berry, with a funky leather streak through the lingering finish. But this has grace and depth in equal measure, very much an iron fist in a velvet glove.

Drank alongside the 2018 Château Mangot. Medium ruby color with some hints of purple. Much more lively on the nose than it's counterpart: plum, cherry, game, potting soil. But not a particularly complex bouquet, which is mirrored on the palate, with its tart red and black berries and funky earth notes.

Drank alongside a 2019 Château Mangot as comparison. Extremely shy on the nose; offers plum, raspberry, crushed gravel and white pepper. A bit more alive on the palate, growing in glass as well, gaining some depth and robustness. Satin texture, medium body, rustic chalky tannins. Red fruit, dusty and earthy, with hints of pepper and licorice in the finish.

Gave 90m air. Pale ruby color. Aromas of chocolate-covered cherry, crushed gravel, jalapeno and a hint of smoke. Creamy and supple, medium-full bodied, but a little soft. Red and black fruit on the palate, washed out a bit by a chalkiness in the mid-palate and finish. Tannins are broad, fine-grained, but lacking in resolution still. Hasn't come together as much as I'd hoped yet.

While objectively a good wine, this just hasn't seemed to come together in the two years since I first tried it. At this stage it's actually quite disjointed and between identities. Maybe it just needs much longer than I was willing to give it, but it may also just be a good wine without a lot of aging potential. Notes of red plum, blackcurrant, pepper, compost, dark chocolate and a hint of menthol. Satin texture, with tart red fruit a peppery finish and sinewy tannins.

Holding very strong after another year. Only gave 1h air and I don't think it needs decanting anymore. Medium ruby color with garnet around the edges. Notes of red plum, strawberry, oak, truffle and pepper. Medium-full bodied, smooth and graceful, if a bit simpler on the palate than on the nose. Bright red fruit dominates, with echoes of truffle. Tannins are firm, with a bit of stalky bitterness in the finish.

Value Gran Reserva that's always worth a try. 2h air, probably not strictly necessary. Medium garnet color. Shyly gives up aromas of cherry, tar, parmesan cheese, well-worn oak and strong notes of black pepper. Silky texture, medium-bodied, with zesty cherry on the palate and hints of licorice through the lingering finish. Round, polished tannins add just enough support. Probably not a huge amount of long-term cellaring potential, but it's already 14 years old and enjoyable so why not drink it now.

Having been intrigued by the power and depth of the Belle Fiore 2017 Merlot, which seemed like a solid blend wine, have been anxiously awaiting this arrival, and in the case of the Numinos Reserve, it does not disappoint.

1.5h air, and then improved quite a bit in glass. Deep ruby color. Blackberry and cassis on the nose, alongside smoke, oak, and pepper. Smooth and succulent, full-bodied; tart black berries and cherry on the palate, with a lingering smoky finish. This has both grace, depth and medium-term aging potential, especially to allow the firm, chewy tannins to calm themselves a bit.

Will rebuy, stash some of these away, and look forward to seeing how this develops over the next decade.

Have been looking forward to this wine (and the Numinos) being made available since trying the Belle Fiore Merlot from 2017, and thinking it was going to make and excellent blending wine (as well as drinking well on its own). The Siderio is definitely good, but not great, unlike Numinos which really shines.

Gave about an hour of air. Pale ruby color. Offers plum, blackberry, white pepper, potting soil, eucalyptus and cedar. Satin texture, medium-full bodied, with red and black fruit with hints of toffee on the palate. Rustic, grippy tannins are just a little out of balance with the wine at this stage, which may resolve over time, but the Numinos shows far more promise.

Had high hopes for this, but didn't find it meeting expectations. It's fine, but not very exciting. Deep purple color. Notes of black currant, eucalyptus, chocolate, potting soil, green peppercorns and wood shavings. Big and round, satin texture and full-bodied, with rich juicy back and red fruit on the palate. It's just simple on the palate, far simpler than the bouquet prepares you for or what I was hoping for.

This is not a big fat Syrah, if you're looking for that. It has some density, but it's showing development and refinement, showcasing structure and subtlety as much as fruit. Deep purple color. Aromas of blackberry, fig, coffee, crushed gravel, nutmeg and hard cheese. velvety texture, lush on the palate, with the fig, coffee shining through and giving way to a lingering spicy finish. Chunky tannins have loosened up since 2021, but still add a scaffold to show off the wine. Well worth pulling out of the cellar at this stage.

My first try of this value-priced Châteauneuf-du-Pape. Bought several other varietals from this producer from the 2016 vintage and found them all to be good value, this is no exception, though I think it's still early and I hope some additional complexity and depth will emerge with additional time. Well, this proved a surprise after checking out my prior TN. Perhaps it was the intervening 20+ months or perhaps it's just bottle variation, but I found this a much more enjoyable, rounded experience than previously. Medium garnet color.
