2017 Saint Cosme Côtes du Rhône Syrah
An addendum to my previous tasting notes from June .... This might be one of the best 2017 CdR’s we’ve had. Packs in more interest and flavor than its humble $14 price tag warrants. None of the funky Rhône elements often found in young CdR’s. And plenty of juicy, crushed blue and black fruits on the palate, with a long, satisfying finish. A case buy for us — all for under $180, including tax. Are you kidding me? A perfect weeknight sipper for cool Fall evenings. Drink now to 2021/22. Worth Seeking Out.

Classic cherry and underbrush on the nose and palate, with lots of acidity, and a touch of earth. Good food wine, but the fruit is lacking power and depth considering the WS score. A nice wine, if a bit underwhelming.

Would love to have loved this even more - really high ratings from (WA 94, WS 94, WE 95..), but.. Very deep cherry fruit and overall very fruity in style. Very smooth, a bit fatty, with good acidity. Too cherry vanilla for me and Im not a fan of fatty reds (and that certainly counts chiantis, which are are about much else but certainly not fattiness), which this isn't, but borderline..
Sweet finish which becomes more obvious with time in the glass. Not sure, but don't see much potential here. But good wine. 91-92.

Surprisingly good. Layers of flavor and plenty of structure. Definitely a go-to if you’re looking for an everyday red.
