Refined and soft nose of red berries, sweet cognac fragrance, hints of toasted spices and leather. On the palate, the same elegant aromatics are coming through on a bed of velvety texture from entry to finish, which is lingering and clean. Balanced, with some tannins for aging. A bit of air will open up the mid-palate more. A good quality village burgundy.

Savoury smoked ham with ripe blueberries, violet, licorice, peppery clove and vanilla spice on the nose. Palate is filled with sweet and smoky notes, powerful and fat. Full-bodied and opaque structure. Too much toasty oak. Transition to finish has a touch of salty minerals.

Ripe and fresh cherries and plums with toasted cumin, licorice and leather. Rich, fruity and simple palate from entry to finish. Not much depth but there is good acidity running though it’s core, transiting to a finish with some tannins for further aging. Ready to drink now. Good pairing with spicy food given its soft and fruity traits.

Bright cherries and violet elements on the nose with hints of green herbs and toasted cinnamon sticks in the undertones. Not in your face style, a touch more elegance on the palate. Good density and power in the hot mid-palate and finish. One dimensional presentation. A bold and totally opaque structure for now. This needs at least an hour in the decanter for the structure to loosen its grip on the fine aromatics. Finish somewhat edgy. Keep this for 2-3 years more before appreciating its fruity and floral traits.

Dark fruits, soya sauce, cinnamon and cumin with a touch of cedar. Elegant and clean. Palate echoed the nose. Medium-bodied structure. Velvety tannins from entry to finish. Transition is seamless and smooth. Need some decanting for the wine to open up. Will continue to develop for 3 years.

A delicious nose filled with cassis, toasted licorice, vanilla spice, dark chocolate and hints of tobacco and bell peppers in the undertones. The same aromatic experience flow to a full-bodied palate. Rich and fresh at the same time. Nice balance. Polished and meaty structure with mineral fruits. Good depth of flavours from entry to a lingering finish. Decant for an hour for the wine to open up to gain body and structure. Ready to drink now and will be better in 3-5 years time. 92-93 pts.

Interesting aromatics notes of blackcurrant, smoked bell pepper, toasty tobacco and fermented soya bean. Very savoury. Balanced palate, rich and polished with nice acidity providing some lift in the full-bodied palate. Good depth but finish can be longer and seamless. Age for 3-5 years for the elements to develop and integrate fully into the structure. 89-91 pts.

Fresh and bright raspberries, redcurrant and earthy spices on the nose. Clean palate and very approachable wine. Spicy and fruity. Medium-bodied. Finish is somewhat short. A daily drinking red that will do well with a wide range of food. Pop and drink immediately to enjoy the ripe fruits.

The nose needed at least an hour to open up. There are cassis, peppery spices, a touch of tobacco, toasty coconut and gravel. Palate is rich and clean with nice coconutty and black berries notes. Medium-bodied, taut and fresh from entry to finish which is lingering. Still very young, try this in 5 years’ time for the phenolic elements to integrate better. Still prefer the Bin707 over this superblend.

Fragrant nose of blueberries, subtle toasty coconut, sweet spices, grilled meat, pepper and dark chocolate. Elegant and sophisticated. The nose needed at least an hour in the decanter to open up. Nice and gentle entry with notes echoing the nose. Good balance between concentration, complexity and elegance. So savoury and delicious. Medium to full-bodied structure with polished edges. Transitions to finish is velvety and long with lingering and savoury aftertaste. Still too young to drink now. Another 5 years of aging will result in greater depth and finesse. 95-97 pts

Expressive nose of toasty lemon tart, pear with butter and hints of tarragon. Silky texture with fresh acidity running though it’s core from a subtle entry to a powerful mid-palate and gentle finish. Somewhat closed, this needs sometime in the glass for the elements to open up. Lacking the supple complexity and depth of the top Grand Cru Burgundy. Keep this for at least 3 years before tasting it.

Racy red fruits, deep violet and toasted spices of clove, cinnamon and pepper on the nose. Very easy palate reflecting the aromatic notes from the nose. Clean and rounded. Medium-bodied. Somewhat disjointed and watery finish. Young and evolving. A daily drinking wine that would go well with bar snacks and casual lunch.

Very Barossa personality on the nose and palate. Ripe plums and black raspberries , bold and spicy with good concentration and power. This is not for those who are seeking elegance and defined layers of fine aromatics. Somewhat one dimensional mid-palate and finish. Easy drinking with fine-grained tannins. Decant for an hour for the elements to settle. Aging this for the next 5 years should result in greater harmony and finesse.

Bright and spicy nose of blueberries, toasted clove and star anise with hints of licorice and vanilla pods. Palate is spicy and earthy. The ripe fruits are hidden behind the opaque and huge structure which defined the entire mouthfeel. There is some degree of elegance despite the structure. Savoury and mineral. This reminded me of the Shiraz from Victoria than from Barossa. The powerful mid-palate transited nicely to a spicy and somewhat austere finish. This needed more time in the bottle. Drink this in 3 years’ time for a more harmonious experience. 91-93 pts

This Shiraz needed at least an hour in the decanter to open up. Deep aromatics of black plums, fermented soya bean, dark chocolate and toasted clove, cardamom and star anise. Palate is dry, clean and penetrating. Fruity elements are hidden behind the tight but polished structure for now. You get lots of graphite and spice coming through, with fresh acidity in the core. Almost full-bodied mid-palate. Seamless transition to a long and mineral finish with a touch of bitterness. Too young to drink now. Even with decanting, you are not getting the full potential. Need 3-5 more years of bottle aging for it to show its best. A wine that will age gracefully for at least 10 years. 92-94 pts
