Crushed rock, black pepper, white pepper, baked dark fruits, slight hint of green (from stems). Beautiful wine. Medium acid, medium tannin, medium finish. Very well made. Drink with or without food.

This wine was so ripe and had a cloying sweetness that I just couldn't get over. Decanted for two hours. Cherry, currants, and sweetness dominated with the moderate tannins hitting on the finish. Very fruit forward without much complexity. A well made wine, just not my style. Drank with a beef stew, but this would be better suited as a cocktail wine for a Zin lover.

Very Cornas like. Stems, pepper, juicy without being so upfront fruit. Nice complexity as this opens up. Awesome producer.

Big but balanced. Drank next to a AP Vin Rosella's, Clos Pepe, and Black Kite Kite's rest. This was the best of the bunch, although I think the fruit from Clos Pepe is the best.

Very monolithic. Fruit bomb, Cali Style. Not my cup of tea.

This was big, disconnected, sharp, lots of heat on the back end. Exactly the kind of Pinot that I do not like. WIll give my last bottle as a gift.

Overall a good Zin. Not for everyone, but if you like fruit forward wines this is a crowd pleaser.

Solid wine and outstanding price point. Drank after the Pax and it was more fruit focused with less intensity. Not near as complex, yet still a great wine.

Very nice Zin and the best Biale I've had recently. More structured than the past few. Slight pepper on the nose with beautiful aromas of red and sweet fruits.

This type of style is what got me loving Syrah. California fruit throughout, with black and white pepper on the noise, blue and black fruits paired nicely with the stem inclusion and silky mouth feel. Has aged well and a great representation of a cool climate Syrah. Crushed rock, floral, blue berries, black berries, olive, lavender, earth.

Very one dimensional and some what cloying. Fruit bomb. In all fairness my palate has not been impressed with Cali Pinot as of late. Prefer Oregon and Burgundy.

Drank next to a 2008 Beaux Feres and a 1er Cru. This had the sexiest mouth feel of the three. Very strong cinnamon and nutmeg notes on the nose. While this is a constrained Pinot from Cali, it was by far the fruitiest of the three wines. Marcela loved it. Will stay on their list, although my palate likes the old world pinots much better. Overall a good wine.

Drank next to a 2009 Sea Smoke and a Nuits St. George 1er Cru. This was the first wine of the tasting and the most amber in color. Had some Burgundian notes mixed with some bigger and brighter fruits. Cranberry, sour cherry, fresh herbs and earth. This had the mouth feel of a french pressed coffee compared to the Sea Smoke which was much more like a chemex.

Very sensual. Black tea, plum, very light pepper, with some boysenberry. This will be great in five years. Enjoyable now.

I think this a great Chardonnay, especially for the price. Drank at Sorensen's house with a Kistler. While this wasn't as good as the Kistler, it was a great wine. Cloudy as can be, lemon zest, tons of cream.

I love this effort. Not as much of a fruit bomb as I would have thought.

Sweet, thin, jammy, and consisted of over ripe plums and raisins. Not a great showing for this wine. I generally think Biale makes quality Zin's. Maybe an off bottle? Followed up by Bedrock Lorenzo's Heirloom which was a much better wine.

Drank next to a 2009 Roar and thought this was much more balanced. Still big fruit, but had some smokey notes and was more structured from the beginning to the finish.

This was an alcoholic fruit bomb that had zero structure. Big mid palate with a red fruit liquor profile going on and very hot on the finish. I think it's time to start stocking up on Oregon Pinots.....

My favorite of the 07 Syrahs we had. Better than the Rosella's and Susan Hill. The Garys has by far the most pepper and reminds me the most of a rhone style with it still being very California.

A ton of grapefruit on the finish. Very unique. I used to like this style much more, but it seems as my palate is changing. Great QPR.

Very good, but not wow. Beautiful fruit, but not as complex as the Clos Pepe Vineyard's estate wines. Would recommend and hopefully will gain some complexity in the next 12-48 months.

This is my favorite domestic grenache. Simply beautiful. Soft yet powerful enough to stand up to most protein and cheeses. Tapenade, brine, barnyard, wilds strawberries, and earth all smashed together.

Drank this next the 2006 Saxum JBV. This wine was more subtle, tar, tabacco, stems, chalk, rock, blue fruits. Great wine, but he Saxum is in another class.

This wine still blows my mind at how balanced it is at 16.6% ABV. The clarity and purity of fruit are simply amazing. Finally cracked the list, but unfortunately I did not get an allocation to this wine. Still has another 5-7 years life, easily.

Very big and Aussie like. Not as much complexity as I remember in previous vintages. Great fruit, dark, blue and black notes. Very dark and tannic on the finish. Must have used stems? Starting to really prefer the true Rhone's.

Cayuse-esq. still going strong. Very interesting to have this take on Cayuse fruit. I really, really like this one. While I love Wells' new style, I do miss this offering. Funk, olives, rock, blue and purple fruit. Lavender oil. Still has tannin.
