Nice bottle. High content of Merlot gives unique left-bank Bordeaux. I like it!

Drank after 1/2 to 1 hour decanting. Very much right-bank style. After another hour, this baby turned into a killer. It drinks well now, but definately will improve more. I am happy that I have 3 more.

Meesook's good bye and good luck dinner. Opened it 3 hours before serving it. I thought that 2004 Flor de Pingus would be better than this, but a half of us liked 1999 Poyferre better. It has real good balance and nice taste. Smell is not strong enough for me though (my nose did not work well because of USDA Prime beef). Anyway, we were happy and nicely drunken. What a happy dinner!

Meesook's good bye and good luck dinner. Decanted it for 1 hour before serving it. Pristine cork condition. But, all the goodies are gone, and I could only sense wood chip smell and flavor. Definately off peak and should have consumed 20 years ago.

Meesook's good bye and good luck dinner. Opened it 1.5 hours before serving it. Not bad at all. But not as good as 2000, which was excellent year.

Meesook's good bye and good luck dinner. Popped out the cork and leave it for 3 hours without decanting, which was a big mistake. Do NOT uncork or decant it. A huge vanilla smell went away really fast, and shifted to next phase. If you want to enjoy this one, open and serve it immediately. Even without initial good smell, this one is very silky and smooth (92 pts).

4 days later, this remaining bottle tastes amazingly good with nice acidity. I can give 94 pts.

Drank it for 3 nights while reading and working. Tannins are fully integrated, and very smooth and good. But I guess this one is going down. Definately drink them up soon if you have some.

Drinking downstairs alone after my wife and daughters went to bed. Not bad. Buttery and bubbly smell and taste. For $11.50 + shipping, not bad.

Goodbye and good luck dinner in Nector for Brice in Moscow. Started drinking after decantng for 30 min. Sweet, sugar, cotton candy, and a hint of herb. Smells damn good. But unfortunately taste did not follow the smell. I though this Oregonian would beat the French (1980 Latour) since it was mediocre vintage and 1998 is relative good vintage for Beaux Freres. Guess what! Everyone prefered the French. In conclusion, I think Red Burgundy is still far better than Oregon Pinot.

Goodbye and good luck party for Brice in Nector, Moscow. Very good cork condition. Started drinking after decanting for 30 min. Smell of pepper and leather, reminding me of Merlot. After one hour, it gets really better, smooth and fairly strong. Key word here is "Balance". Taste really suites its smell and my other sences. Nice efforts for mediocre vintage! My hat's off for you, Chateau Latour!

RMRS Moscow Lab wine gathering. Bottle opended 3 hours prior to drinking. No decanting. Hay, pepper, tabacco, but no fruits. Fairly strong, but tannins are gone and wine is completely mellowed. I think this is probably at its peak. I am happy that I have three more, which I will consume within year or two.

RMRS Moscow Lab wine gathering. Bottle opend 3 hours prior to drinking. No decanting. Very similar to 2002, but weaker than 2002. Still might good. Cost and taste per se, Greenock is one of the best! I am glad that I have some more.

Year-ending and Tom's retirement party at Tom and Betty's house. No decanting. Initially pretty tannic and showing typical Bordeaux stuff. After one hour, tannins are totall gone and the wine was mellow. Very smooth, drinkable, and enjoyable. Very well balanced and good finish. It has all good stuff, and my only complain was simply "weak", not strong. But I can drink this everyday, considering its price ($35).

Opened the bottle on 11/21/2008 dinner time without decanting. Initially it showed vanilla and creamy smell. One hour later it showed more complex smell, reminding me of ink, earth, dust, oriental herb and medicine, and berries. Taste followed the suit, but was somewhat tannic and had some acid. Nice balance and good finish. Aftertaste +40 sec. Two hours later, inky and oriental herb/medicine smells get stronger, and taste was much rounded. The remaining bottle was stored in room temperature (65-70 F) with a stoppper. Next day taste was better, but less complex. Taste was denser and smoother. Very well balanced botth with good complexity. Very enjoyable now and for next few years.
