Pale ruby in glass with garnet hues. Medium plus intensity on the nose. Cherries, menthol, roses and tar. High acidity and tannins that need time. Medium plus finish. Good potential. Hold next bottle for at least 2-3 years. Great qpr at $35.

2/23/24, 10:37 PM - I purchased it from the discount rack at wine house. I think it may have been during the pandemic when it was closed to foot traffic.

Medium ruby in glass. Medium plus intensity on the nose. Blackberry, mulberry, graphite, lead and tobacco. Medium plus acidity and high tannins. Medium plus finish. Hold for another 2-3 years. Decant at least 60-90 minutes if you decide to pull the cork today.

5/30/23, 7:59 PM - Yup, not surprised. I don’t get to enjoy a lot of aged Bordeaux, so figured 8 years may be a good point to dip the toe if you will. Perhaps I’ll get to keep my last bottle to enjoy at the 15-20 year mark. Unlikely though.

Light ruby with garnet hues. Medium plus intensity on the nose. Sweet cherry, roses and menthol. High acidity and tannins. Medium plus finish. Decanted for 6 plus hours and the last glass was the best. Hold for at least 2-3 years.

3/7/23, 10:35 PM - I’m not sure which other TNs you may have been referencing, but so far I’ve been pleasantly surprised with the 2017 Nebbiolos I’ve tasted.

Decanted for a few hours and this still needs time. The regular bottle comes out juicer/riper and over better. Muted/astringent with high acid. Some cherry, vanilla and tobacco are there but buried by structure. Hold for at least five years.

1/1/23, 11:22 PM - How do you do it @maximumsatisfaction? Show us the way closeout master 😋

  • Es7e2003 commented:

1/3/23, 10:14 PM - Either that or checking the closeout section at Winehouse is a second job of sorts, such is the case with me :)

  • Es7e2003 commented:

1/4/23, 10:42 AM - Haha. That sounds like a foolproof plan. Alternatively, we could pull our resources together and enjoy all the bounties wine house’s closeout section has to offer :)

Inky purple with some garnet hues. Cherry liqueur, blackberry and coconut. Medium acidity and high tannins. Medium plus finish.
  • Es7e2003 commented:

10/29/22, 9:10 AM - I’m happy to hear that. I don’t have much experience with penfolds, but coupled with others’ notes, would very much love to try it again with some bottle age on it. With that being said, it was not offensive in any way at this young, primary state.

Lemon, honey and flint. Much rounder, fuller than the 2016, with more discernible heat and very little hint of sea salt. Better on day two.
  • Es7e2003 commented:

6/22/22, 10:42 PM - That is interesting. I wasn’t aware that could be the cause of the price cut. In any case hope you enjoyed both.

Garnet in glass. Plenty of tertiary notes, feral, iodine, forest floor, and cough syrup. Medium plus on the nose. Medium plus acidity and high tannins. Medium plus finish. One of the most complex reds I’ve had.
  • Es7e2003 commented:

3/17/22, 4:04 PM - I’m afraid I do not have much experience with Tuscan reds with 10+ years of age, cab francs no less. With that being said, I suspect you will not have too many regrets if you pull the cork today :)

Was dubious about drinking this so young but it was so fresh and delightful - after a 1.5hr decant it was drinking really nicely. Very fruit-forward, borderline jammy for a Barolo. Would drink again - I'm sure it will improve with time but I'd happily drink another literally right now.

day 1 oxidized color and taste to some extent. Decent acid so balance sweetness. Corked and pumped and back in fridge for a few days while out of town. Opened last night with Thai food and very disappointing with no acid/contrast or tasty fruit and just kind of flabby. Would it have been better 2-3 days earlier? I'm sure, but still not convinced would have really enjoyed this bottle or possibly this wine. 2 bottles left. Also don't think is a long-lived vintage given ripeness

Bright ruby, beautiful and youthful in the glass. Fresh aromas of red fruit, raspberry, strawberry, crushed dried flowers and sweet spice. Even at this young stage the oak seems to be integrated. Acid, tannins and the alcohol seem to be all in balance. Medium + finish. Excellent qpr for priorat at $37.

8/28/21, 2:05 PM - Decanted it for an hour to an hour and a half. Unfortunately the tacos were all gone in no time, so had the wine on its own.

Once you get past the initial attack of ethanol, beautiful red cherry, garrigue on the nose. Surprisingly well balanced on the palate.

11/24/20, 7:55 PM - I’m afraid I can’t recollect what was on the menu that evening, although I suspect half the bottle was already gone by time we got to it 😊 gave it a short decant for an hour or so and it was open for business. Enjoy, cheers.
