Superb. This wine was oaky when young but it is very well integrated with the fruit now. Lovely minerality and persistence on the palate. Shows these wines can really age. Unfortunately my penultimate bottle.

Having loved this first time I now think it is rather overripe. Not bad drinking in the sun with a BBQ (which is when I first tried it)

This was one of those forgotten/unwanted/neglected bottles from the cellar that I decided must be opened. I am assuming Pouilly Fuisse is not known for its cellaring ability and this probably cost Euro 5 from the vignernon when it was bought in 2001/2 on a trip to Macon. But it was fine. Darker colour with the age. Fresh and clean. No hint of oxidation. Maybe keep final bottle another five years to experiment?

This had a citrusy and mineral character I wouldn't normally associate with Aus chardonnay, but also an oakiness I would. However, the overall package was good and the oak may mellow with some more time.

Crikey! This was gorgeous. It may add some weight and complexity with time, but is drinking very well now. Seemed more open than an '05 Fevre Valmur tasted recently. Those things I associate with grand cru Chablis - the purity of fruit, minerality and delineation - were all there in spades. The oak was very unobtrusive.

Well there we go, it's gone. Colour not as faded as you might expect. Nose was outstanding Cabernet cassis, almost a touch sweet, palate a bit tea like with still noticeable tannins. A wonderful experience.

Thought this was great. Opulent cassis nose, excellent fruit intensity on the palate, a few years left in it as well so no hurry to finish remaining bottles.

Some bottle age has improved this and provided a counterpoint to the edge of sweetness it had when first tried (I've never experienced that sweetness before on any other Macon). Drink up however.

Soft ripe berry thing. Needed the zip given by more acidity to my taste. Will leave for a couple of years before trying again

Thought this was fairly spectacular. Most of the case finished some years ago and decided to leave a couple of bottles to see how they did with more time. Quite a lot of sediment. Bright and clean fruit flavours. On the nose and palate had some of the sour cherry thing going on I normally associate with Piedmonte wines. The remnants held up reasonably well the following day.

Starting to drink well. I find the sour cherry thing with these Barbera's really appealing with a few years of ageing. Compares well to the Giacosa 05 Nebbiolo d'Alba

Four bottles left from the case. This is still drinking well, which is not bad for Barral's basic wine costing £10/btl a few years ago. For us this wine divides opinion. I think it is wonderfully expressive, herby and mouth filling. My wife says it is "fusty" and won't touch it. Barral's wines are volatile and maybe that's what comes with biodynamic producers.

Fabulous again, perhaps even better than earlier bottles. Powerful and full bodied, with great fruit definition. It has the structure to last but the question is whether the vibrant fruit will fade if you wait.

Drinking beautifully and I would not wait with this one. Punches well above its weight. Needs some warmth to open up the flavours and benefits from decanting

First bottle of a case. Initial rubbery thing on the nose which went after a decent decant revealing a gorgeous quite beguiling perfumed nose. Sleek and satiny on the palate. This is drinking well now but my guess is that it will hold for a few years yet.

Supple, rounded wine, drinking well now. Perfectly pleasant but I expected more intensity and polish from this estate. For me Ornellaia's Serre Nuove is a better bet in most vintages and, from what I recall, about the same cost

Clean, fresh palate without much that is distinctive. Oak well integrated and adding some richness. This is hardly showing its age at all and I think has plenty of years ahead of it.

Magnum. Visually not much sign of its age. I always like the nose of the Jadis: garrigue and some bloody steak. My wife slightly uncharitably describes it as "fusty". More tannic than I remember the previous bottle and maybe the fruit has receded a bit. No hurry to drink up the remaining bottles though.

I don't get too much on the nose but in the mouth it is fabulous, very balanced, predominantly apricots for me, goes on and on. There was a touch of woodiness on the nose which I don't think was supposed to be there - maybe it was very slightly corked but not enough to spoil the enjoyment. Half bottle and my only one.
