After a delicious 2010 and an amazing fleshy fruity concentrated complex 2016, this is a huge disappointment. Reminiscent of the wines of another chateau of the same owner, ch. La Tonnele, this wine is thin and light. Lacking fruit. Most of it's flavor coming from the oak but there is some smoke and mineral. Poor qpr. Avoid. If you own this I don't think it will improve with age

4/23/23, 5:42 PM - It could be but ot didn't taste corked or cooked or off. Just missing substance. But still could be an off bottle. I may retry if still available

Red
2015 Château Fourcas Dupré Kosher Listrac-Médoc Red Bordeaux Blend
very nice, lots of forest floor and earthy notes, has some complexity, medium body, good acid, moderate finish. Not quite as good as the 2010 imho.
  • Adam Pritzker commented:

4/2/23, 8:18 PM - The 2010 is monumental and still not ready. Is the 2015 close to ready? I even find the 2012 still a little backward. The 2007 is drinking beautifully

This is my 5th bottle of this wine in a month. Each one has been consistent and excellent. Light to medium ruby color. Explosive bouquet of spicy berries, burnt rubber, tar, earth, dark cherries. Medium bodied with excellent mouthfeel. Good concentration, great balance. Delicious fruit with flavors of red cherry, dark cherry, spice, mineral, tangy berries, smoke, earth, wood. While it has nice ripe fruit, it has excellent balance with tannins and acidity. Long fruity and acidic finish. Drinkable now with enjoyment, likely best from 2025-2031. Excellent QPR. Highly recommended

2/28/23, 8:50 PM - I have already consumed 6 so far because, while not at peak, its enjoyable now, I wanted to share with friends on different occasions and I bought SEVERAL CASES of it. I wont continue to burn through it at this pace. Unless someone had a lot of it, I would hold it. If you got several cases, can start enjoying now. Definitely approachable

White
2020 Domaine des Marronniers Chablis Chardonnay
Domaine des Marronniers, Les Marronniers, Chablis, 2020

Tasted in last night's WSET Level 3 class. Chilled slightly, as I personally never overchill most whites as I find it dulls both the aromatics and palate. Life lesson: Be happy with the chill. Don't seek the overchill.

In the glass, pale lemon. Nose is clean, medium+ intensity, developing. Pear, green apple, lemon, underripe peach, blossom. Some vanilla, toast, biscuit. On the palate, more green apple, blossom, wet stone, flint, vanilla, toast, biscuit. Dry, high acid, medium alcohol, medium+ body with nice heft, creamy, medium+ intensity, with a medium+ finish.Very well-balanced, good intensity, good concentration= Very good. Can drink now but good potential for aging.

I believe this wine is aged on the lees for 12 months in stainless steel vats, giving it the secondary notes of vanilla, toast, biscuit. You should be able to cellar this wine an additional 3-5 years with its status as mevushal in mind giving it perhaps a greater sense of urgency.

$34, 13%ABV, mevushal
  • Adam Pritzker commented:

2/12/23, 9:59 PM - why do you say the mevushal status should give it urgency re ageing?

Corked or wasn’t cellared right, will try another one some other time.

1/9/23, 10:20 PM - When I had on release it was amazing. Had an amazing bottle recently, but have also had 1 1/2 cases of bad bottles. Either poor wine making or poor storage. Did you ever try again?

  • Adam Pritzker commented:

1/10/23, 6:39 AM - I have several. I am going to send a bottle to someone to try to see what they think. Because it could be in a funny stage, I would not rush to try one of your 2 remaining bottles

White
2019 Domaine de Clarmon Vermentino Les Basses Collines Minervois
Kosher version. Just falls a little flat. Maybe past peak. There is fruit but no crispness or vibrancy
  • Adam Pritzker commented:

1/8/23, 5:35 PM - Thanks For finding that mistake. It is definitely Not a 100 point wine. Not sure I've ever given anything a 100 points

Pale straw color. Exclusive bouquet of lemon, lime, lemongrass. Nice ripe fruit with lemon and lemongrass flavors and excellent acidity. A great QPR Sauvignon Blanc. Enjoy now and over the next year or so

5/20/20, 9:10 PM - I really liked the 2018, but I agree it was not as impressive as previous vintages. That being said, the bottle I tried was on the day it arrived. So possible bottle shock. If not, then not as impressive, but still really good stuff. If you like this you should try the goose bay sauvignon blanc and the domaine de panquelaine coteaux du gennois

A shocking departure from previous vintages but also from me same vintage Merlot counterpart which is over the top. This is very tight, tannic with not a lot of fruit or body. Not much of a bouquet. There is a lot of concentration that the tannins and alcohol especially the tannins are the main feature. This is not what this one is usually like.

5/19/20, 3:28 PM - Thank you for your comment. If you look again since your note I tasted it and it was much more typical. Very impressive.

91-92+. WOW! Insane QPR wine. A must buy. What a sleeper. I'd never heard of this wine. After trying the impressive 2011 (which was sold out by the time I tried to get more), I tried the 2012 upon the release. I was promising but backward and hard to tell. Tonight is the first time I've tried it since its release and I was blow away. There is little to nothing in the under $20 range to compare to this. Dense dark purple color. Intense earthy mineral bouquet with spice. On the palate, medium to full bodied. Loaded with concentrated flavors of earth, forest floor, spice, tobacco, minerals. Loads of fruit, loads of tannins, with great balance. Like many 2012's, it drinks well now, especially, because its great balance, but is not showing everything. Long finish. This drinks like a wine double to triple its price. 13% ABV. A MUST BUY. Drink from 2022-2027

1/22/20, 10:10 PM - I think I got it from Saratoga wine. KW and OKW dont usually carry it b/c its a victor wines selection. I just ordered a couple of cases through okw so they have some extra on their site. Well worth trying

2/3/20, 4:11 PM - I am having the 2015 tonight. Hopefully I will have a tasting with note later for you and I will hopefully comment on the difference. I just opened it and just now tasting it. It is very dense and concentrated and tight. I'll see how it comes up with some breathing but it looks like it's as good if not better than the 2012 which I really like.

  • Adam Pritzker commented:

3/23/20, 8:49 PM - see my tasting note on the 2015. you can get it at onlinekosherwine.com. Excellent wine, great QPR

Needed about 2 hours of decanting just to start getting the flavors out. But it was very nice but not a wine I would keep for this long again.
  • Adam Pritzker commented:

1/15/20, 10:14 PM - You must have had an off bottle. I have at least 5 cases of this and may not try my next bottle for 2 years. The 2007 still is not fully mature. I plan on trying the 2010 soon for the first time in a long time. It is a great wine and built to last

Another great showing. Off dry. Intense bouquet and fruit with strong yeasty notes, peach, yellow plum, slate and dried honey notes. Drinks beautifully now but is very young and could likely age a long time. I've had very old QbA from lesser producers and lesser vineyards that have aged a long long time (40 year old ones). This will be fun to watch it evolve over time. A must try

Dense, intense, concentrated with sweet ripe jammy. fruit flavors and bouquet. Loads of tannins that keep things in check. This is an excellent one that will reward cellaring. Well worth getting.

The nose on this wine is ripe, at first, the wine starts off with heat, but that blows off, but it is also well balanced, with lovely earth, mineral, dirt, with dark cherry, coffee, and lovely dark fruit. The mouth on this medium to full-bodied wine is beautiful, complex, well layered, with rich concentration, nice extraction, all balanced and plush, with rich blackberry, currant, lovely mouth draping tannin, with lovely foliage, and some nice earthy and fruit bite. With time, it shows its ripeness, but also intense minerality, saline, graphite galore, and lovely tannin structure. The finish is long, green, and ripe but balanced, with lovely acid, great texture, that gives way to more coffee, graphite, scarping mineral, and light almond bitterness on the long finish. Bravo!! Drink 2019 to 2023.
  • Adam Pritzker commented:

4/19/19, 12:57 PM - I agree its a great wine, but its a baby and will probably enter its peak around 2023 and last another 10 years beyond that. It has great structure, extract, tannins and acidity for ageing

This wine has no vintage but says it was aged 32 years, so I guess the style is a Tawny Port. It is brownish-red in color, the nose is full of sweet raisins. The mouth is very smooth and syrupy, with notes of dried fruits, raisins. It seems to have gotten better every day it has been open, so far (4 days). It is an enjoyable dessert wine and an interesting one as well. It is definitely not worth the $100+ price tag. There are sub $50 bottles of this style wine that I strongly prefer.
  • Adam Pritzker commented:

4/3/19, 10:16 PM - This is not a tawny port style at all. Its a pedro ximinez viejo sherry style
