Such a great value. This is wine ticks all the boxes of an aged classic Haut-Médoc. Nice integrated tannins, plum, noble wood, good acidity. Always a pleasure to drink this producer.

Very good discovery. Good structure but fine, fresh, on the dark cherry side. Everything is in balance and makes it a great food paring wine (lamb). To buy again.

This wine delivers so much pleasure!
This is an simple Cab Franc vinified on the fruit side. The palate is very juicy, clean, and fresh. You can find nice blue and black berries, a slight animal side from Can Franc (no barnyard), good weight and length. Medium acidity which holds the wine well and fine tannins.
Kind of gloo gloo wine but really perfectly made. I could.not stop tasting it, which makes me giving it +2 for the overall sensation of pleasure this wine is delivering.
Ideas for pairing: dry meat plates, blood pudding, bird games, but you also easily drink it on its own.
Definitely a great value!

Tasted with Coravin over 1 month and opened the bottle for the last two glasses.
With Coravin, it was rather muted. After pouring the two last glasses, I let them breathe for 1h. Really great showing. It gained weight on the palate and became a decent 1er cru of mercury. Not overly complex, but you can find what makes Burgundy interesting in other regions than Côte d'Or: Red berries, musk, spices and nice fine tannins, with medium depth and length. It would wonderfully pair with bird games.
A old value for the price, when prices in Burgundy are skyrocketing!

Great Chenin in a great spot. Beautiful citrus aromas with a good weight in mouth, yet a good finesse as well. Crispy acidity typical from young Chenin, which makes a great pairing with see food and cheese plate. Good length driven by wonderful salinity on the tongue. Strong plaisure/price ratio. To buy again!

Half bottle bought in an auction. What a wine, with a beautiful dark golden cokor. Such a length and depth. Quite dense on the palate with exotic fruits. But it kept a great acidity to compensate. Paired amazingly work cheeses.

What a wine! On the nose, you an find dry exotic fruits, Very dense on the palate (255g of sugar), this is really amazing to taste such a wine. Lots of exotic fruits, no Gewurztraminer markers as the terroir and sugar are taking the lead. Paired amazingly with foie gras and mango chutney.

Really interesting wine. Cokor is copper and we can surprisingly find copper aromas on the palate. Off dry, the aromas are really driven by pear cider and stone fruits. Paired well when foie gras and mango chutney. Great showing now, so need to keep it further.

In a really great spot now. Tannins are resolved and this wine shows a wonderful forest strawberry on the nose and palate, coupled with forest floor aromas. Great acidity typically from Pinot that keeps the wine well alive. Not sure about further development, so drink it now!

Great showing, dry, and very subtle. We can find stone fruits on the nose and palate. However, this is way too young and I was expecting more depth and length, whi h will come with age. Next bottle at its 20tb birthday.

Great aged Heritage of Montus. Mushrooms, oak, and forest floor. Tannins are still slightly present but we'll integrated. Showing well now so drink them up, as no further development is expected.

This is a nature wine and the bottle is capsuled in oder to keep the slight sparkle in the wine,.protecting it from oxidation.
Nose is very floral and it shows a juicy cherry on the palate with barnyard aromas. Slight tannins at the end that give some relief to the wine. Overall, very juicy and tasty wine to pair with cold cuts and cheeses for the appetizers, served slightly cold.
Nevertheless, the funky aromas might not be the cup of tea of everyone. Personally, the barnyard aromas put me off.

Paired with the cheese course of the New Year dinner with some friends. Great quality, apricot driven aromas, very sweet. Felt quite unidimensional to be honest and lacked some acidity and depth to score higher. Anyway, still a great match with the cheeses.

Opened for the New Year japanese-inspired dinner with some friends. This was the pairing wine for two courses: (1) raw kingfish and semi-cooked tuna and (2) clams with yuzu-sake broth.
Opened 2h before the first course, it felt quite light but with a good acidity / salinity. We decided to poor it into a carafe for 1h which really helped to open it up. The wine gained depth and length, which was paired very well with the flavour-intense broth of the clams course. It showed stone fruit and citrus aromas with a great length finishing on the saltiness brought by terroir. A great wine that needs 2-3 more years to gain more depth. 91 now but potentially 92-93.

Great discovery, I have been impressed by how balanced is this wine. You can find yellow fruits and fresh grass on the nose. The mouth is well rounded, with the yellow fruits kicking in again and a decent acidity. You do feel the taste of the aging but feel that the aging in demi-muids a given the wine it's aristocratic length and elegance. Well done!

This might be the wine with the highest pleasure / price ratio I have encountered in my life. Amazing juicy cherry on the nose and palate, very fine tannins, a good acidity, and an extraordinary elegance. So much pleasure to drink it on its own. The entire wine range of Bodegas Frontonio is highly qualitative and terroir oriented. What else? Definitely among the top winemakers of Spain.

In a great drinking phase now. Tannins are resolved and the strength of the hit 2018 vintage has been smoothed out. You find cherry, raspberry, and noble wood on the nose and palate. Integrated tannins, balanced acidity. Needs a decant of 1h to open up. Great tasting!

Coravined over 2 months and opened the bottle for the two last glasses.

When tasted with coravin, I found it rather simple. But the two last glasses were very enjoyable when I opened the bottle, on the sour cherry, pepper, and forest floor. A good acidity makes it well alive. Tannins are well integrated and the mouth feels very smooth and elegant. Not over-complex but an interesting barrel-aged wine. I would say it lies on the higher bound of the price range I would pay for it (CHF 30).

As a separated note, I always find the wines giving much more when we open the bottle. I have the impression that the coravin is neutralising the wine, which does not impact too much when the wine is young but it is a disadvantage when the wine is already aged. It would be great whe other members would give their experience on coravin!

This shows the greatness of aged chasselas.
Rich aromas of honey, abricot, and flower. Good acidity maintaining the balance. Well done! Somehow good to drink now and it looks like the aromas are intemporal. Unfortunately the last bottle other I would try to keep another one until it's 20th birthday.

Well made rose Prosecco, paired with Asian moon cake during an evening on the terrasse, looking at the full moon. Nose gives some elegant scents of strawberries and lychees. The palate is clean, dry (brut), and very elegant, without being complex. Refreshing and pairing well with these cakes which are slightly sweet and salted. A good value.

Soudars always shows a solid quality for the price. Well aged BDX notes on the nose with some prune and cooked cherries. Palate is balanced with fresh acidity, dark cooked cherries, prune, licorice, cocoa powder, and light oak notes. You can feel that some sous-bois nite will pop up soon. Tannins are present but very smooth. In a great spot now if you like wines with noble aromas from aging, prior to tertiary aromas. A reference in Haut-Medoc.

Served a little chilled with chicken gyros, tzatziki, and Greek salad. Good easygoing Summer red wine with cherry and little animal side. Smooth tannins and hence paired well with light Summer food. Not really complexe but a good, interesting, and well made wine from autochthonous grapes.

Served in Riedel Performance Pinot Noir. Enjoyable, classic Pinot noir from Burgundy village appellation. On the nose you can find some dark fruits, herbs, and a interesting minerality. On the palate, you have the elegance from Volnay but it starts developing some character and weight from a good terroir. Not overly complex, but is shows a good balance between aromas, acidity, minerality, and the strength from the hot 2008 vintage. You can feel the traditional wine making, as it is neither infused nor too much extracted. Unfortunately my only bottle, otherwise I would wait 1-2 more years before pulling a cork again, thinking it would gain more depth from the terroir and elegance. Well recommended for the price tag.

Co-plantation of 13 grapes. Wonderfully balanced wine. Very lean on the palate with acidity and sugar in harmony. On top of the slight petroleum scent, the wine shows a wide range of fruits on the nose and on the palate: from abricots to lemon skin. Low to medium bodied, this wine is drinking well now and I'm not sure it has upside potential. I have read that 2011 was a rather difficult vintage in Alsace, so it would explain why this vintage is on the lower side of complexity for a Deiss Altenberg of Bergheim. But still a great food wine (paired with Persian chicken pollow rice).

From friend's cellar. Wonderful mature nose of cherry, noble leather, sous-bois and a bit of barnyard. On the palate, the tannins are fully integrated, smooth texture, and nice aromas of sous-bois with nice sour cherries. A joy to drink after 25 years, not sure if it has many years ahead.

A good Riesling that has already been softened by a couple of year in the bottle. On the nose and the palate, you an find clean citrus fruit and a decent acidity refresh your mouth at the end. Paired with Northern Thai specialty Khao Soi, it was a real treat. Good quality price ratio, but lacking the complexity of higher end Riesling Grand Cru from Alsace.

First, I was sceptical about this wine when I read some comments saying that it is ver fruity. So I kept it some year to see if the migicas from Burgundy would happen. And it has happened! Very well balanced with melted tannins and a good acid backbone. Fruit is rather red but fresh, makig very pleasant to drink. A good depth as well (coming from the old vines?) and a reasonable length. Enjoyable to pair with a quail or pheasant.

Bought at an auction so I did not have too much expectations (in terms of aging conditions). First surprise was that I have got a bottle that have been rebottled in 2001. Then the wine was in really good state. On the nose and the palate: blckberry, noble leather, forest floor and smocky notes. The fully Integrated tannins makes the wine really smooth, even if it is still bodied. I would have never guessed it is 37 years old. An amazing wine with the right complexity and balance between primary and tertiary aromas. This is a pity to have had only one bottle. For me, it shows the magics from higher Bordeaux estates in great vintages.

As described on the bottle, this wine translates the fight between the rocks (salinity from the granite) and the terroir (smoothness from a sunny orientation) as well as the complexity from coplanted, deep-rooted vines.
I always find the wines from Deiss magical. Paired with see food, a wonder!

Light bodied but elegant and smooth. Exotic fruit, honey, little sugar and little acidity. I kept it vacuumed 1 week in the fridge and it was showing even slight better afterwards. A gem! Got it ex-chateau 2 years ago from a Swiss retailer. Removed the cork 4h before tasting. No decant. No fruit anymore, fully mature with forest floor aromas. Round and fine tannins, this wine paired very well the pan fried sweetbreads. With a bit of air, it started showing some prune taste on the palate and had a medium length. I think this will no longer improve but is very much enjoyable now. Unfortunately my last bottle, but I would go for a longer slow oxygenation or even a light decant, I would have another one.

Great wine but needs more time. I coravined a glass on the first weekend 1, the wine was still a bit austere. Then, on the second weekend, I have opened the bottle on Saturday, poored two glasses, put back the cork and left the bottle in the cellar. The wine was showing better but still s bit austere. Then, we finished the bottle the next day (Sunday) und it was showing very great: depth, fruits and spices. Unfortunately, my only bottle but I wouldn't touch this wine for the next 5 to 10 years if I have other bottles. Outstanding quality!

Coravined for 2/3 of the bottle. I also found out as other notes here the alcohol is very dominant. For the last 1/3 of the bottle, I decided to open the cork and leave it for 24h, which has paid out. The wine became much better balanced with a level of alcohol which was only slightly noticeable. It paired very well with a blood sausage.

Remarkable wine from 2005. Very classic nose of dark cherry with some ink and menthol. Medium+ body, the tannins are still slightly grippy, showing that the extraction might have been quite high. Well made and very enjoyable but not overly complex. Final is short to medium. Great food wine with a good quality price ratio. Drink now.

Had a coravin pour. Decanted 3 hours in the glass. Now it really shines compared to two years ago when it seemed to be muted. Crimson color, on the nose you really get the beautiful fresh cherry and the mentol of a great grenache in a colder vintage. On the palate, you can find fresh cherry, blueberry, white pepper and cinnamon. The tannins are not fully integrated but have a fine granularity, which gives a good structure in mouth. Well-balanced with a nice acidity, the wine is silky and shows the feminine side of Châteauneuf-du-Pape. Amazing finish of 20+ seconds. Beautiful wines to pair with quail, pheasant or duck as well as with young cheese.

Quick note, no time to grade it. Great discovery. Delicate wine with aromas of sour sherry, blueberry and white flowers.

Bottle bought in Athens 4 years ago. Xinomavro (70%) and Negoska (30%) grown on sandy clay terroir. The vineyard sits in Fyliria on the East slope of Mont Paiko in the Macedonian Region of Greece.

Consumed over 4 days, bottle was kept vacuumed in the fridge.

1st and 2nd: the wine smelled green olive and cherry tomatoes. We can find some raspberry as well. On the palate, the tannins are very grippy and we can feel the alcohol in the finish, making the experience less enjoyable.

3rd and 4th day: the tannins could integrate, we can still feel them but they become very fine. The aromas evolved toward darker fruits (blueberry, raspberry) and black olives, with some orange zest and white tobacco in the finish. The wine became elegant and fine, still with an enjoyable structure in the mid-palate. We can guess in the long finish that the tertiary notes (forest floor) are at the doorstep.

Overall, this is a great wine with complex aromas, making an interesting discovery of this Northern Greek appellation. Unfortunately, my last and only bottle. Currently, I would advise at least 4 hours of decant, but it would be very interesting to keep this wine until its 10th or 15th birthday to experience how such a such evolves over time. A producer to follow.

1988 Château Rabaud-Promis Sauternes Sémillon-Sauvignon Blanc Blend (view label images)
From 375ml, paired with goat blue cheese. It smells dried abricot, botrytis, caramel creme brûlée. Some flowery notes in the background that could get close to chrysanthem. I found the same aromas on the palate, plus a light touch of wood in the finish. Light bodied with a fresh sweetness but lacking acidity. Clean and long finish. After 1-2 hours, the wine is rather flattening than improving, as well as showing higher volatile acidity in the mid palate. Overall a great experience from a 1er cru that is showing its bests after 30 minutes of air. Drink up as it will no longer improve.

Given its 41 years, this is a wonderful wine. Light bodied, the nose and the palate show jelly of forest strawberries, with some black tea and white tobacco in the background. Tannins are extremely fine and completely integrated. Short to medium length. An unforgettable moment to have been able to taste such a mythic wine. This shows the greatness of Burgundy's terroir.
