Bottle decanted for an hour. The wine still showed some tannins. It is absolutely exquisite right now with hints of smoked meat and berries. A big finish and plenty of time left to enjoy. No need to be in a rush to drink this one.

This was a pleasant surprise primarily because I was unfamiliar with the label. It is a really nice QPR, and I see now that it is connected with Ken Wright. Ripe strawberry and bubble gum on the nose. Tart red fruit and some tannin on the palate. I like how the wine evolved during the night. I will seek out more.

Enjoyed this wine. Apple and floral notes on the nose. I get butterscotch and some oak on the palate. The finish is medium long.

Decanted for an hour. Red fruit and spice on the palate. I get a bit of cherry cola on the finish. Not surprisingly it reminds me of KB from the 05-10 era. The price is a lot more palatable than a 2019 KB Sonoma. It’s a solid Pinot at its price point. My only concern is how it hold up. I didn’t really see an evolution over the course of the night.

Decanted for 90 minutes. This is a decent wine with some complexity. It also has some elegance to it, which is a nice departure from your standard Napa red blend. My only struggle is the price point at $125. There are a lot of fantastic Bordeaux wines at that price.

I enjoy this champagne on a night when I’m in the mood for bubbles. It has good structure and notes of green apple. It’s crisp and fresh. I think it’s a great QPR.

This was a really nice domestic Pinot. I decanted for an hour. The nose was red fruit with more red fruit on the palate. Reminded me a little bit of a classic KB Sonoma. The wine improved as the night progressed, so I’d say you can easily enjoy this wine over the next few years and maybe longer. It’s a good effort for the price.

Did not decant. The nose is fairly muted. It’s subtle and elegant on the palate with lemon and mineral. The finish was short, which leads me to say this wine should be consumed. It was good overall, but I have a few more to drink in the near term.

Did not decant. Wine is still in holding strong. The had tropical fruit with petrol and citrus on the palate. The finish was medium once the wine got a little air. I always enjoy trying aged wines to experience their character.

Decanted for 3 hours. Wine really opened up as the night went on. It f you are a Dunn fan, this wine is a must. It was only $60, which makes it even better. The fruit is subtle and elegant. I like that it’s not overwhelming fruit. Glad I have another bottle to try in a couple of years.

Decanted for 3 hours. The tannins are still very present after decant. The nose is blackberry and raspberry. The palate is muted blackberry and cherry. I’ll wait another couple of years for the next bottle.

I won’t knock the wine because it’s a preference thing. Wine is big jammy Napa. I prefer the Dominus and Opus as far as big domestics.

Poured through filter into decanter with minimal sediment. Enjoyed over next 3 hours. The wine is mature, but still has soft tannins. Red fruit on the nose with ripe red fruit and cracked pepper on the palate. It is an elegant and enjoyable wine. I would consume in the next 2-3 years.

Decanted for an hour. Dark red fruit and eucalyptus on the nose. Red fruit and spice on the palate. A long finish with plenty of tannins. I bought this for my son’s birth year, and I think it should make it to 21 years without an issue. I’ll try again in 3 years.

Decanted for 90 minutes. Some pepper and spice on the nose. Cranberry and cherry on the palate with a nice elegance. There might even be a sweetness on the back palate (don’t laugh, but like Smarties). The finish is medium-long. Enjoyable and unique wine.

Opened and decanted for one hour. Elegant nose with black fruit and a hint of bubble gum. There is red berries and graphite on the palate with a medium long finish. Very enjoyable wine. It’s peaking but it should hold for a couple more years.

I believe this is peaking. The tannins were quickly replaced with soft red fruit. The finish didn’t go on for as long as I expected. It is an excellent wine, but I see it as in its prime right now.

In a good place. I would say it peaked about 3 hours after opening. Initially it was very California in style. It did mellow a bit with time. I would say it’s time to drink and at it’s peak. There were classic cab notes with red berries and cherry on the nose. The palate is red meat and cherries. The finish is medium.

I have to say this wine is in a good place right now. I don’t know that I would hold it another decade. It peaked about 3 hours after opening. I did a tasting comparing 4 wines all Bordeaux in style and greater than a decade old. Two were old world and two were new. This wine finished first. Other wines were Gloria, mayacamas, and Dunn. This wine was the best, but it was also most expensive. Still a fun comparison.

Decanted an hour. Not sure what’s going on here. This vintage may be a dud (sample size 2). I usually love these wines, but both bottles have been heat and stewed prunes on the palate. I’m hoping it settles out over the course of the evening, but I usually find the 5 year mark to be when they start to sing. I’ve been drinking these wines for over a decade, so I’m not overly worried. I just hate to not love this wine.

Decanted for a little more than an hour. Enjoyed over the next 3 hours. Cherry tobacco on the nose. Initially there were chalky tannins and subtle fruit on the palate. Over time, more blue fruit and tannins softened. The finish is average. I’d rate wine higher if finish was longer. It’s a decent effort, but I’m stuck trying to determine if QPR is there at $150.

I find Gloria to be an excellent value Bordeaux. I’m not sure on this vintage. Wine seems tannic for hours after opening and then just dies. It’s not bad, but I prefer the 2009 and 2010.

Purchased about a month ago from BWG. Did not decant. First 90 minutes were exquisite. The wine was Burgundian, subtle, and smooth. It started to decline after that. I am still glad I bought it, and I did get to enjoy a Littorai with a bit of age at a fair price.

This wine was excellent. Notes of an aged Sauternes. Some sweetness on the palate, but it’s balanced with tart notes of citrus. The finish goes on for days. It’s too bad this wine isn’t made any longer.

Acquired direct from winery and cellar stored. Decanted wine for an hour before drinking. Big ripe blue and red fruit on the nose with menthol. Palate is more red fruit, but not as big as the nose. There are still tannins there. The wine did open up as the night progressed, but I’m not sure it will improve. The wine is good, but it is not great in my opinion given its price point.

Similar notes to last bottle (2018). Decanted bottle for 90 minutes. The sweeter parts of the palate are starting to take a back seat to more tart fruit. The finish is still long. This was quite an enjoyable bottle. It should continue to evolve over next decade. My opinion on when to drink is completely based on personal preference at this stage.

Opened and let breathe in the bottle for an hour. Mineral, citrus, and yeast on the nose. The finish is medium-long with notes of toast and lemon. The acidity is balanced. This Champagne is in an excellent place right now. I had heard the 2006 vintages were drinking well now, and I would agree with that sentiment. A fantastic way to celebrate my anniversary and wife’s birthday.

Drink ‘em if you’ve got ‘em. This isn’t a bad wine, but it’s on its way out. This is my first of three. I wish I could have enjoyed earlier in its lifecycle, but I acquired as a library wine. I’m a little surprised that a 2005 Pauillac is already beyond peaked.

Really drinking well. Decanted for 90 minutes before drinking. Was still very good at the end of the night. Not a classic Napa, which made me enjoy it more. I prefer the Bordeaux features as opposed to a typical Napa fruit bomb. Very classy and elegant with a medium-long finish. Should be fine for another 5 years without issue.

A very enjoyable Cabernet. Decanted for 90 minutes and enjoyed over the next 4 hours. The wine only improved with time. Cherry and tobacco on the nose. Jerky and spice on the palate with a medium-long finish. I will give it another few years before I enjoy the next bottle.

This is an excellent QPR. We had the big dog at a tasting and decided to buy a couple of these because they are 1/3 the price. Did not disappoint. A lot of mineral and citrus on the palate. Nice balance and acidity. I look forward to seeing this develop over the next year or so. I think it will be better in 12 months.

Red fruit and eucalyptus on the nose. I know it may not match, but I get more blackberry and blueberry on the palate. The finish is medium with plenty of tannins. I’ll try the next bottle in 6 months. I got this bottle on the open market for half the price I paid directly to the winery. The QPR is solid at that price point.

Drank alongside a 2009 Galitzine, 2009 Estate, and 2012 Estate. This might have been the best bottle of the night. It’s in a great place, but it still easily has 5 years left. Lots of fruit, funk, and spice. A great wine!

From a 375. This wine continues to evolve. It is still very youthful in my mind from the color, palate, and nose. My notes from three years prior are still consistent with tropical fruit, color is slowly shifting to a gold, and viscosity is still what I’d expect from a younger Sauternes. Still would say nothing but time on this one.
