This is a lovely wine. Elegant nose, floral and red fruited. Peppery on the palate, resolving into a deep, enveloping wall of fruit. Fine tannins. Will drink even better in a few years, but after breathing for an hour or two, was a fine beverage in the here and now.

1994 Vieux Château Certan Pomerol Red Bordeaux Blend (view label images)
bottle was in great condition. wine was brick red, with earthy, leathery aromas, and some spicy character that i couldn't pin down but did enjoy. on the palate the fruit was mainly subdued by age... some faint hints of soft plum, but mainly savory and rounded flavors... also stones and earth. not sure i understand how this could be called austere (read that elsewhere). it's not in any way flamboyant, either, of course. just seemed a quiet classic, starting to fade.

1982 Château Beychevelle St. Julien Red Bordeaux Blend (view label images)
As noted elsewhere, this bottle also had a vegetal aroma. Musty and earthy... didn't allow for much else in the nose. I didn't mind (kind of liked it, really), but my drinking partner wasn't as admiring. Didn't smell like Bordeaux to me, in any particular way.

That said, once drinking, it was a different story. The wine had a wonderful amount of fruit still present. Tannins were still providing a backbone, but not obtrusive at all. It was smooth and red fruited on the palate, with an aftertaste that lingered nicely for quite some time... a great pleasure to drink.

Decanted for sediment, then back into the bottle. Cork was damp, but not damaged.

1989 Château Figeac St. Émilion Grand Cru Red Bordeaux Blend (view label images)
Outstanding drinking experience. Cork in perfect condition. Developed slightly in glass, and, slowly, as the night went along. However, was in prime drinking condition from the pop of the cork. Fully mature, fully enjoyable. No rush to drink this wine, but no reason to wait, either.

A champagne that won't challenge many drinkers, but will please nearly everyone. We were pleased, for sure. Cream, chalk, and some hints of citrus and pear showed through. Fine bubbles. Balanced... neither too elegant nor overpowering. Dry.

Our table loved this wine. An excellent end to a fine meal. Not overly rich, but refined and elegant in the glass. Visually quite evolved. Dark almost nut brown in color. Nose of citrus and stone fruit. Honey. On the palate, I was surprised by the perfect acidity. Clean. Very fresh tasting for a wine of its age/appearance.

Classic. A nose of soil and forest. Clean and precise, the wine had excellent balance... each aspect seemed to be as it should have been. It improved dramatically after 90 min in the decanter, of course. Tannins somewhat resolved... what was left of them were pleasant and created a depth of flavor that we really enjoyed. The finish was quite long. If you have one bottle, I'd stash it away for a decade at least. If you have more than one, it wouldn't hurt to visit this wine in the next year or two, at this stage in its evolutionary path.

I could and would drink this anytime... it’s so fresh and elegant. Not maybe as fine as the Calvert or the Blocks, but still... a beautiful wine.
A delicate nose, lots of dark fruits. On the palate, well, I wish it had been a magnum. It isn’t a powerful wine. Drink it by itself.

Lovely, noble wine. Dark fruit on the nose and palate. Some peppery chocolate notes. Medium bodied. Very fine; a welcome reminder of a lost weekend in Yerevan.

Still a bit backward. Decanted an hour, then drank over 3 hours. Cedar and dark fruit on the nose. Promising and classic on the palate, but not long lasting. I feel like this will be much better in 5 years.

Left the bottle open for an hour, then poured glasses with dinner. Was improved from last encounter... or the drinker was in a different place. In any case, it had a very elegant, enveloping nose; I might have been satisfied with that only. I did drink, though! On the palate, the wine was well balanced, cherry infused, and altogether enjoyable.

great find, great qpr. drinking really well now after an hour+ of air. medium body; tannins resolved. on the nose, it's like a rock quarry after a rainstorm. bit of red fruit. clean, mineral driven palate, and yes, as has been noted, a small, black peppery bite on the finish. not long, but classic.

a well made table wine. full bodied. muted nose at first, then cherries, plums... weatherbeaten wood? the palate, well... stone fruits left out in the afternoon sun. good for any given tuesday, especially when you remember what you paid for it.

decanted for an hour. refined, perfumed nose. forest flowers, dark fruits, a tinge of cedar. palate lagging a bit at present (blackberries, currants, etc), but tannins were relatively integrated. tart. not sure what to think. polished, modern, and, maybe, not fully to my taste. but i can see the appeal. lacks some punch, but seems to be more oriented toward luxury.
