delicious although surprisingly mature - good length, peppery with lovely complexity

2/25/24, 1:04 AM - I gave it a couple of hours in a decanter. Nice wine and probably a good time to open your first bottle.

this was really singing tonight - mature, complex and long and probably at its peak - still good for a few years yet

7/6/22, 10:15 AM - No time but I think it would benefit from a decant

my penultimate bottle of twelve drunk over the last fifteen years or so, this was a bit of a disappointment - not bad but slowly losing its heart, I would be inclined to drink any remaining bottles soon

4/11/22, 8:40 PM - Hi, No decant but I did stand the bottle upright about 24 hours beforehand and pull the cork about an hour before drinking. Drunk over four hours or so without any discernible improvement which was perhaps the most surprising and disappointing. I am going to leave my last bottle for at least half a dozen years, if not longer - maybe and hopefully just a wine in transition! I hope this helps and good luck! hargy

Still going strong! Unmistakably Latour - sublime

1/14/18, 1:12 AM - I stood the wine upright for 48 hours then no decant but opened maybe twenty minutes before drinking with wild duck. The cork was soaked and weak but luckily came out in two bits. I find it a bit of a lottery with wines this old but would decant if I had my time again because it was so alive and would have benefited from more air. I was very very lucky with this particular bottle and I hope you are with yours. Happy birthday!
