- Garnet color with medium forming legs and aromas of raspberry, strawberry, black currant, cherry and apricot. It's in total harmony and has flavours of cherry, strawberry, black currant, fig and cloves with a medium/full body. Bright texture with a long finish.

One of the best 2011's I've tasted.
Color: moderate to dark.
Taste: Pure, amazing mouthfeel, great texture, old vine concentration.
Note: Olivier (and his son) are making some amazing wines. Every year seems to improve, maybe thanks to Philippe Cambie or the amazing commitment from Olivier and his son. Definately a producer to watch (and buy for me esp. this bottling).

Dinner with Georg, Marc, and Fabian (Winterhur, Switzerland): N: not as expressive in nose nor in taste compared to most KB's. strawberry nose T: moderate mid palate; good presence. some tannins.
NOTE: was brought w/ me to Switzerland with a layover in DC; the wines i brought with me were muted- due to travel shock?)

Dinner with Georg, Marc, and Fabian (Winterhur, Switzerland): N: was initially glorious but then got muted (perhaps due to 5% mouvedre);
T: silky smooth, amazing mouthfeel, concentrated. "iron fist in a velvet glove.". epic wine.
C: dark/very dark

Dinner with Eric S and Friends (Zug, Switzerland): funky (barrel influenced) nose, surprisingly good for a Merlot from Ticino, SW. could fool lots of folks in a blind tasting (like it did for us).

Though not strawberry, o or grenache in traditional sense, this wine has body, finesse, and elegance. Tasted like an old vine grenache from a warmer climate. Was very impressed with my second Sardinian Cannonau (i.e. Grenache). Would buy again.

Producer: CONTINI

Founded by Salvatore Contini in 1898, the winery ranks among the oldest and most prestigious in Sardinia. The winery remains family owned and managed by Paolo Contini and Antonio Contini, who are passionately dedicated to the accurate selection of vineyards, grapes and wine-making in accordance with the most ancient local traditions. Situated in the town of Oristano, on the West coast of the island, many of the vineyards are planted on the Sinis peninsula. As a result, the wines have a terrific coastal influence and are among some of the best wines in the world, both white and red, to go with fresh seafood. They are one of the few wineries to still produce Vernaccia in the traditional style using the Solera method, with some barrels dating back to the 1900s.

Nice concentration without being a fruit or oak bomb. Darker pit fruit in flavor profile. Some olive in mid palate. Lingering finish. Very attractive wine.
