Dark, heavy, very alcohol forward. Noticeable oak. Like a Shiraz. Not at all what I like in Burgundy. A wine that typifies what is wrong in Burgundy

Velvety black cherry, earthy, noticeable alcohol all in keeping with a traditionally made barbera. Excellent

Beautiful, aged character. Bronze color in the glass. Soft mosse. Apple, Carmel, chocolate and toast notes. Absolutely lovely.

Superb. This seems a’point. Lovely, aromatic, weight, less on the entry with good density on the finish. Excellent with guinea fowl.

Really lovely. Even better than #60. Rich and aged character - not fino style, by not much like an amontillado either. Works with salty appetizers and fish, but could also work well with a fish entree

Golden color, older appearing then expected. Honey, apples, very rich. A superb wine but needs rich food. Seems like it is ready now

Another gem from the Veronelli cellar via Chambers Street wines. Crusty bottle, mouldy label, but the cork was sound. Wine poured a beautiful gold and was divine with honey, apricot , aged fruit aromas. Still good structure

Bottle, fill and cork excellent. Still very young. A beautiful and vital wine. It was excellent with mousaka, (despite the culinary mismatch), but really needs a pork roast or chacroute. Could keep this for decades.

Not a style I enjoy - Baroque. Fat, clumsy and lacking focus, flavors are muddled. I can see why these wines disappoint those who like traditional Austrian wines

Bottle fill and cork excellent. Young appearing, bright with just a hint of gold. A lovely, age worthy white burg with excellent structure. This bottle was fully ready, but could have been kept longer

Compelling, mostly Chardonnay rosé’ champagne Needs a little air to blow off some funk and then it grows in complexity with apples, quinine, strawberry, bread etc.. Changes with time and air.

Very light color, looks young. Dusty cellar aromas initially - needs air ( decanting might help). A lovely understated riesling that is dry with subtle diesel and fruit, excellent structure A special wine that was better with cheeses than a chicken dish, but might really shine with pork. No hurry

A serious wine in need of time in the cellar or a long decant. Beautiful cab franc nose and austere on opening. Still quite pleasant, and would be good for bigger food. Over the course of about eight days in the refrigerator in a sealed decanter, the wine opened, became silkier and improved. Beautiful wi e. I think this truly is a Loire red that will benefit from 20 years in the cellar.

Light gold, youthful. This really improved after five days vacuum sealed in the fridge ( it was forgotten ). Honey, apples and herbs emerge and it maintains its minerality. Great wine maker

Beautiful and compelling wine. Northern Spain has so many fantastic wines. Assertive and pleasantly bitter, it gains complexity and weight with warming and time - a lovely melange of melon, banana, honey and herbs. No hurry, but excellent now

Dark gold, oxidized character. Compelling for me with bitter citrus peel, spice and texture. Still slow to reveal itself, I think this wine is holding something in reserve Very food friendly, I enjoyed it with cheeses and then chicken. Excellent , but not typical

Nice rose’. Subtle and pleasant with grapefruit peel and spice. Could be drunk quickly, but worth savoring a glass. A light salmon color- “Oeil de perdrix” - eye of the partridge ( in the throes of death according to some) as per RODENBACH99

Lovely wine. Refreshing when cold, this is young and it was tight initially with citrus peel and quinine, eventually evolving into banana, guava and chestnut honey. Fairly high alcohol with excellent acidity. Seems like a wine you could keep for a long time, but is superb now.

Joyful, fresh German Riesling - citrus zest, mirabelle, apricots, petrol. Good acidity and not fading, but seems like a now wine. Pleasant summer wine that paired well with chicken cordon bleu and asparagus with aioli. Should last awhile, but nice now.

Sublime. Cloudy, yellow-gold slightly oxidative on opening but that rapidly dissipates Quinine, citrus peel, spice - it was constantly changing from lemon peel to grapefruit to orange - like moving between the twist over a London dry martini and morning OJ. Never fading with refreshing bitterness, excellent with salmon Nicoise. Great wine.

On the border between a dark rose’ and a red. Light red upon opening. A little wild and volatile right out of the bottle (in an endearing way), this calms down and is a pleasant and adaptable summer red. Delicious with kofta, chicken sausages and grilled garlic scapes, scallions and leek ( with aioli). Not fading and, in fact, becomes deeper magenta with time. Mandilaria grape. Perhaps more will come with time.

Traveled with this bottle to Seattle It rested 2 days. Decanted several hours, still tight initially at dinner, but it unwound slowly. As always, this barolo was sublime. Roses, tar, dark fruits. Needs food and was lovely with bolognese.

Always enjoy Greek wines in summer. Many don’t travel well, but this wine has fared well. Excellent summer white. Herbs, melon, honey with proper acidity.

Light color, reticent with high acidity Raspberry, rhubarb, herbs. Understated for a California Pinot and all the better for it. Did not develop much over an hour and a half, maintaining its structure. This is a subtle wine and more may come with time. I don’t drink much California Pinot noir (although I am a fan of Kutch), but I would if they were more like this wine. Excellent with reverse seared steak, sautéed mustard greens and corn outside in early summer.

Fresh and, pleasing summer wine. No fizz, orchard fruits, good acidity and the wine improved with time in the glass picking up weight and a savory finishing bitterness. Excellent with sheet pan spicy chicken. Good on day 2.

Gold, oxidized. Complex nose and full mouth feel, but funky and not ready when first opened. I should not have opened this without leaving time for long decanting, or planned to come back to it in a few days. Apparently it improves with a lot of air or after being open a few days

Another high quality sherry from Equipo Navazos. Gold-orange, subtle saline, varnish with a little Carmel. Although this would be lovely and different with appetizers, I would still pick a fino for olives and salty fish. This is complex and might work well with a main fish course with capers and brown butter. Excellent

Perhaps due to colder storage, this bottle seemed much younger than prior bottles. It needed several hours in the decanter before opening up and even then was not ready. Classic St. Estephe wine, very structured and good with lamb.

Bottle and fill excellent, cork was wet but well seated. Color was slightly dull, but it improved considerably with decanting a few hours. This was a nice old Bordeaux, but not quite as good as prior bottles. Seems to be getting towards the end - drink up.
