I like Pegau wines although I think I tend to prefer them a bit younger. This is a good wine. Good spicy fruit with a slight cola aspect. Tends to fade a bit with hours open.

Tasted over 4 hours and improved with time. Possibly some slight bricking in the colour, but I do not get a sense of a wine that is fading. Smooth subdued dark fruit; with some hints of cigar box. Overall a very nice wine.

Citrus (lime aspects), stone, with a bit more richness of fruit than I would normally expect from a chablis, but still good acidity. A very nice wine.

Quite rich with hints of melon, stone fruit, apricot. There is a slight oak influence but not excessive. Very nice wine. Improved over 2 or 3 days

Rich, clean dark fruit with some tannins in the background. Voluptuous. By the second day hints of raw red meat a bit more apparent, blended with dark berry and cherry. No obvious intrusive oak. A very pleasurable wine; very much in the house style that I look forward to year after year.

I was very disappointed with the 2015, but this (the 2016) is pretty good. Nice clean traditional syrah. Light to medium bodied with hints of sour cherry. Better the second day. Perhaps not a lot of complexity but a nice wine

Decent wine with good fruit but not my style – a bit too much oak influence for my taste although I expect others may like it.

A nice mature wine. Some bricking but overall good dark red colour except around the edges. Top half of cork broke off as I was trying to open it, so once I finally got it open, I decanted it. Not a huge amount of sediment. Good fruit red and black flavours with some plumminess. Perhaps not particularly complex, but overall very enjoyable. And good value. I note the alcohol is listed as 13.5 % - seems in the ballpark.

Good fruit with Mediterranean spice. Tannins are rounded. Slight hints of raisin. This is a good wine, but I wonder if it is past its peak. I see I didn't post notes, but bottles of this vintage from a few years ago were more satisfying. Looking at other recent reviews, maybe this is a reflection of my cellar. Or maybe just a random bottle. Or maybe just me. But I am thinking I like Pegau at about 2 - 12 years out (depending on vintage). Still one of my favourite wines.

I have had 3 or 4 bottles from this vintage over the years but do not seem to have posted notes. My recollection was that it was a bit austere and rough around the edges on previous occasions (from 2 to 8 years ago). But now it is very nice. It is smooth with rounded tannins. Very good dark fruit with hints of leather and slight hints of cigar box. I'm glad I have a few more bottles and once again a reminder of the benefits of cellaring (or at least leaving a bunch of wine in the crawl space under your house).

This is so refreshing after tasting some 2015's (from other producers). Clean pure red fruit with stone and tannins in the back ground. There is a crispness and precision to the flavours (but rounded on the finish). Quite a bit better the second day. 12.5% alcohol

Disappointing; I have had previous vintages that were more to my taste. There was decent fruit, but lacked the delicate floral aspects one can find in wines from this area. Medium to full bodied and had a sense of a combination of both over- and under-ripe fruit. Slight hints of a bell pepper finish.

I am a big fan of Jamet Cote Rotie and usually enjoy it both young and old. This one was a bit disappointing and the flavour profile did not match up with notes I saw from others (with one exception - the poster who noted a green streak). When first opened it was light to medium bodied with bright red fruit flavours. By the second day it had much more depth and richness with tannins evident. Good fruit with some complexity. But there was a slight green pepper aspect which I had not encountered previously in this wine. I will let my other bottles sit for awhile.

Upon opening was totally awesome; but it tended to fade a bit with air time. Initially had a nice complex smoky aspect with rich red and black fruit that was heavily influenced by sour cherry / cranberry nuances. With time the smoke faded but the fruit remained with red fruit dominating. Overall a nice wine with good acidity. Decanting would probably not be a good plan at this stage. I am not sure I posted notes but I recall a 1998 form a couple of months ago that was fading. In that case, fruit was plummy and acidity was muted. The 99 is great wine but if I had more (not sure if I do), I'd not hold them for much longer.
