Monthly Boys' Wine Night - Champagne & Old Bordeaux (Island Room, Hong Kong Country Club, Shouson Hill, Hong Kong): From magnum. Semi-opaque black-red colour lightening at the edges and looking very bright and fresh. Nose is lovely mature but fresh Merlot driven nose but with a super dollop of Cabernet to give it some spine.....beautifully lifted and very hard to stop sniffing. Palate is beautifully rich in fruit, balanced tannin frame, belly-filling, deep and unctuous. Long and resonant finish. This was a super expression of one of my favourite Bordeaux vintages for current drinking. So much better than a magnum some of us drank together at Epure 30 months ago.
