Still that beautiful nose and very expressive, however the wine gets leaner and leaner, so time to drink up.

Drinks great, very citrusy with a good Mosel stink. Keep it cold since this is a tad on the sweeter side (for a Kabi).

The one and only „funky popcorn“! Fantastic how this Reserve can be enjoyed at this young age, while showing all this potential. Slightly natural Chardonnay dressed in some beautiful wood notes of roasted coconut. Everyone was blown away.

Maybe the 15 vintage finally opens up? Nicely aged fruit in aroma and taste. However that super dense core remains and the high acidity is still not in balance. Keep for another 1-2 before the next try.

So far I believed the Vintage was tough at May, but now this Ortswein has dropped its initial weight and drinks nicely without being overly ripe. Alter a night in the fridge the fruit ripened quickly and gained back weight. I guess it’s time to drink up.

Slightly cloudy, dark Ruby and not fully opaque. After opening slightly green (tomato?) and pretty rustic. Raspberry and cherry aroma but mixed with some barnyard and graphite notes. About what I expected from this producer. Over the course of two hours in the bottle this dramatically improved. Fruity notes stepped back and turned into a pure aroma of rose hip and golden apple, no more barnyard or rustic aroma, instead more of that graphite and maybe a hint of tobacco or fresh leather. Spot on Balance between acidity and tannins to provide structure and a tremendous length. Big burgundy show, a wine to quietly enjoy.

The Puszta got heavier with each vintage as climate changes for the worse, BUT this cool vintage reminds me of the earlier days. Glad I got a full crate :)

Blew me away. Dark red with purple hue. Complex aroma of pure blackberries and black cherries, pepper and green oily notes like eucalyptus or menthol. A brilliant mix of young freshness and superb ripeness. No tertiary components yet. Long finish with sublime integration of the acidity. Drink or hold. NEED MORE.

PnP. Very harsh, almost unfriendly wine. This barely features any fruitiness, maybe some dry dark plums. This wants to be a wine fully supported by its structure but also the medium light tannins feel a little green and incomplete. Hardly finished one glass. Maybe this needs time?

Complex, elegant and intense. Huber holds its promises. Great joy right now, even without a lot of aeration.

Elegantly reduced red fruit, noticeable iron/bloody taste. Hint of green notes. Pleasantly bitter. This one has a beautiful balance of elegance and strength. Wonderful wine. Drink (or hold?).

Unbelievable but this is still too young to drink or needs plenty of air. Dense tannins, not too aromatic at this stage. Some funky nail polish. Too bad my last bottle.

Very warm red fruit, a little too bitter for my liking. The tannins are very present and somewhat drying. Maybe I should have kept this in a carafe for a few hours. Medium intensity. Tannins softened on day two but at further reduced complexity. Drink up.

On full display right now without extensive aeration. Typical warm fruit of kaiserstuhl, however not cooked or jamy. Well balanced acidity. Lacks some complexity and even more so on the next day. Drink up.

Most people’s favorite amongst a large panel of 2013 Spaetburgunder GGs. Incredible concentration and purity Fantastic aromatic complexity with red fruit and menthol aroma, some notes of black pepper. Long savory trace. Grand Vin. This one worked very hard to achieve its goal of being one of Germanys most impressive Pinots. Drink or hold.

This one kicks way above its village level. Very elegant, bright red fruit, perfect to drink right now. Neither too acidic nor tannic.

De Villaine Style quiet rustic and one of those wines which impress without any effort. Bright red fruit, lots of pepper and some tobacco. Sharp acidity. Almost dusty chalkiness. I guess you could keep this for a few more years but it drinks great now.

Very own German Pinot style with an intense reduction. Pleasant green menthol notes alongside some ripe fruit and spiciness. Enters the mouth gently but leaves a long savory trace. Great balance of acidity and tannins. Unique and interesting.

Cloudy apple juice and white pepper. Good freshness for an orange wine, respectable 11.5% abv

Tried this side by side to the 2013 Raumland Blanc des Noirs which it ourscored at the VINUM tasting in 2022. Don't get the rating, the Raumland is clearly higher quality and more complex.
Very enjoyable this one, but at a different league (at half the price).
White - Sparkling
Fantastic, I get the Raumland reputation now. The lower tier wines have mostly been to heavy for me, but this one retains its freshness while balancing the complex aromas of an aged sparkler. Great QPR when compared to champagne.

Complex and lively, nice secondary aromas of beeswax or aromatic honey. Always a special moment to have an aged KR in the glass.

Dry and a rather reduced fruitiness, given the heritage. As the name suggests present notes of spontaneous fermentation. Just a hint of residual sugar (to my taste). This could easily by the best Saxon Riesling.

Fantastic cork, as always with Weil. Surprisingly dark Amber. Liquified dried apricots of great purity.

Some hints of Acetone which reduce with air. Besides that rustic Pinot notes of raw meat and cherries/strawberries. Slightly cloudy in the glass. Quiet complex but you have to be okay with the natural and rustic approach. Drink or hold.

Big and bold, not ideal for an aperitif but well made and little to no signs of age. Good pqr at 25€.

Fully alive and kicking, complex aroma profile but some drying tannins.

I thought this was my favourite wine from Saale/Unstrut but after this little more of bottle aging, the wine is off balance. Acidity without the body or ripeness to balance it and a shaking bitterness. No fruityness or that special mouthwatering salinity - it's a shame! Maybe the bottle was off...?

Dark orange in colour. Intense but very precise spectrum of aromas. Beautiful dried apricots as the main fruit aroma, accompanied by light tobacco and mildly roasted coffee. Theres also some medicinal or slightly herbal tone to it, which integrates better closer to room temperature. I guess this is peaking right about now, before tertiary aromas take over. On the palate light and balanced, barely sticky with a tremendous length. Grand vin.

Deep gold. Balanced aroma of primary and ripe Riesling, some petrol, some camomile. Dense mineral core and good acidity. I guess there is some room for improvements in the next few years.

Gave it a few hours in the decanter to softer the impression on the palette. Turns out enjoyable but benefits from 2-3 more years of bottle aging.
High concentration in this super complex wine. Dense and balsamic but at the same time fresh and acid driven. Some liquoriche besides the usual Pinot tones. Fantastic bottle

Surprisingly ripe, big and bold. The reduction days are over at Schätzel (at least in this wine). Noticable complexity and a well balanced acidity and fruit bouquet. Drinks well now, not sure about the future.

Fascinating wine, dark ruby red, rich fruit, grippy tannins, 11% abv. Beside the red berry bouquet, there’s some farm animal smell, some banana. Pairs nice with an outdoor babeque. Best on first day, but some air after pop is a good idea.

I agree, drink now. Mine had a touch of cork (swimming pool notes). Perfect spring Kabi
