Nice, easy drinking Langhe. Floral, perfumed nose of roses, violets and macerated raspberry. Strawberry, raspberry, rose water and a hint of rosemary on the palate. Medium acid, medium minus body, medium plus tannin. Nice texture, beautiful pale ruby hue. Was a little surprised at how grippy it was, but I rather enjoyed that quality - went great with the burger, sauteed mushrooms and caramelized onions over a bed of greens for dinner. A nice Thursday night bottle, but if you don't enjoy tannic wine hold for a couple years.

I’ve been in full shelter-in-place for 11 days now and seeing all these posts from everyone digging into their cellars for nicer bottles finally got to me.

I opened up the bottle and half of the cork came out, much to my chagrin, but fortunately the bottom half held together just fine on the second go and did an excellent job keeping the wine in good shape. There was an insane amount of sediment which may or may not be visible in the photo, so I strained and decanted very slowly to make sure it was a pleasant experience.

The nose started off very feral and earthy, lacking barnyard quality but with a strong mushroom, green bell pepper quality that eventually blew off. By hour three it was still present, but much more gentile, with purple fruits and wild flowers starting to show as well.

The palate showed similarly to the nose, a little brash and earthy to start, but still with a high toned, mountain fruit richness. Medium acid and medium plus body, and ultra fine, persistent tannin with a very long finish. Spiced plum, rosemary, thyme, bell pepper, boysenberry, cassis and a touch of leather. This still has years of life, but was firmly in its first plateau of maturity and clearly right in my sweet spot. The air really rounded any rough edges and added an elegance that was missing in the first 60 minutes.

I drank it with a well seasoned rib eye, yams and carrots. It was an excellent pairing and I found a lot of beauty in it’s simplicity.

PnP with my parents.

Nose evolved over three hours. Initially rich, red fruit and a hint of peppercorn. After 30min to an hour the red fruit became more brambly, racier and floral element started to emerge. After more than two hours the nose had started to shine more and was a beautiful melange of spiced plum, currants, clove, floral essence and thyme.

The palate didn't do nearly as much changing as the nose, staying firmly in the lush red fruited range. Fine, almost imperceptible tannin. Had medium acid that kept it nicely fresh and a wonderful spicy element to it that kept the fruit from being overly showy.

Not one I'd personally age much longer, but I'd pour this for my friends and family all day long - especially with sweeter bbq.

Nose: roses, blackberry, strawberry purée, garrigue, cracked white pepper, elderflower essence, spiced plum, raspberry
Palate: raspberry sorbet, lemongrass, a melange of spices - white pepper, allspice, star anise, plum, garrigue and green bell pepper
Very rich. Chewy texture with fine, grippy tannin. Floral, red and black fruited nose with a spicy, rich palate. Medium acid, medium body and a moderate length on the finish. For me, very delicious and clearly a murdered baby. I also love this style of wine while it’s young so I don’t feel badly about it
Day 3: the intensity has mellowed considerably and there is more spiced pluot, blackberry and bramble quality to the palate. Still a beautiful, silky texture with a dryness on the finish despite the rich fruit. The theme of this wine is excellent spiced red fruit.

The nose was very reluctant to open up upon pouring, but there was a very floral and herbal undertone that foretold of good things to come.

The palate is fresh, full of black fruit, thyme, mint and very mineral. It’s rather brooding, while simultaneously bright and refreshing. Medium plus acid, medium minus body, rich blackberry and boysenberry. Very fine tannin, enough to provide good structure, while remaining unobtrusive. I don’t know anything about the soil composition, but I’d guess there’s something adding to the minerality from the site where it’s grown.

This definitely over delivered on the price and was totally delicious. Could easily age for much longer, but still excellent today. Now to save up for some Barolo...

Great stuffing for future consumption. Needs 5 to 10 years. Rich fruit, intense acid structure, incredibly mineral. Today, austere, but opened up after a couple hours and after warming up. 89 for now with potential for 92-95 given enough time in a cool, dark cellar.

No notes taken - from memory.

Fresh medium acidity and fine beads. Lush texture. Simple fruit - not overly complex, but enjoyable as an aperitif.

I killed a baby... and I liked it. PnP for Thanksgiving dinner.

Man, this wine truly deserves more time in the cellar, but it is absolutely smashable right now.

Nose so floral and red fruited - exceptionally perfumed. Violet, lavender, floral pastille, strawberry, rhubarb, spiced cherry coulis and pine.

Medium plus body, luscious texture, medium plus acid and so full of mineral verve. Boysenberry, strawberry, thyme, rose water and crushed rock on the palate with a cracked pepper finish. The mid-palate was very rich and red fruited, while the finish was spicy and the minerality was present throughout. It was so fresh and lively - absolutely scintillating.

I am so glad I have another in the cellar to see how this bad boy evolves in 5 years. No way in hell will I have enough patience to wait longer.

Decanted for two hours before consumption and drank over the course of 1.5 hours.

Nose: beef blood, green tomato, stewed plum, bing cherry, cranberry, cassis, hint of oak, rosemary and mint.
Palate: kirsch liqueur, white pepper, rosemary, plum, boysenberry. Medium plus acid, full body, soft tannin - fully resolved.

This was a very lovely, dry expression of Tempranillo. Expressive nose, great food wine, especially for dark meat. Very rich and well balanced. Good value

PnP into a decanter and allowed to breathe for 30 min.
Nose: ripe plum, strawberry, rosemary, lavendar, candied fig
Palate: rich red and blue fruit, blueberry, rose water, white pepper, loamy earth. More time helps balance the rich fruit with a hint of earthiness. The ripe fruit dominates at first out of the bottle, but after an hour plus it really starts to integrate.
Medium plus body, medium minus acid, fully resolved tannin, medium finish.
Just starting to enter it's first plateau of maturity and could have used another 5 years at least. Plenty of life and structure to grow and mature.

Really nice, fresh Pet-Nat. High acidity, medium body, with fine, barely there tannnin. Bright, fresh citrus and red fruit, with plenty of opportunity to develop. A little simple right now, I'd revisit in five plus years. Excellent wine to pair with a variety of dishes.

Very ok. Ripe red fruit, some tilled earth, grilled herb and rose water on the nose. A rather simple red fruited palate, lacking complexity and interest. Medium low body, medium plus acid, medium minus finish. Pleasant wine, decent with food, but completely forgettable.

Fruit forward, dry, elegant mouth feel, medium acidity, with extra small bubbles. They must have used some incredible grapes to get this level of balance and length from a brut nature. Highly recommend, with a very long life ahead. I should wait a decade to open my bottle, but it's unlikely I'll have the patience.

Same tasting notes as last time - the fritto misto from Kitchen Table Restaurant was incredible with this.

Nose: tilled earth, mushroom, lemon pith, hint of peach, very fresh.
Palate: lush, elegant, balanced. medium body, medium plus acid, medium length. Meyer lemon, slate, oyster shell, poached pear, mushroom.
Nose was more mature than the palate. Just starting to enter it's first plateau of maturity and with plenty of life left ahead. Was much better after thirty minutes and singing after an hour. The elegance was more muted upon opening, needed to warm up a bit and breathe.

Light, translucent ruby hue. Raspberry, floral pastille, loam, under-ripe strawberry, and hint of some hard to place spice on the nose. Pomegranate, raspberry, hint of bell pepper, white pepper, and a floral component on the palate. Medium acidity, somewhat tart, with little tannin and medium body. Very pleasing for a weeknight red.

When I first got this bottle it was a very elegant example of a California fruit bomb, that while delicious, didn't have a ton of complexity.
Fast forward five years and some of the baby fat has been shed and the underlying herbal qualities are really starting to sing and become more pronounced.
Nose was full of rich red and blue fruit, with blackberries, blueberry coulis, a touch of mint, eucalyptus and cassis. The palate mirrored the nose in tasting notes, with full body, medium acid and very, very fine grain tannin. A really excellent bottle that's just starting to round into form.
I'm going to wait at least three more years on my 13, which was a more austere vintage.

Wow. Incredible wine.
Nose was very mineral with wet earth, mushroom, lemon confit, slate and salty ocean air. Palate had medium plus body and high acidity, with salted lemons, rich minerality, hint of mushroom, peach, melon and a hint of clove. Long finish of minerals, lemon, earth and a little spicy.
A long life ahead of it, but man that was special.

This is lovely. Really delicious - punches well above its weight. Nose of lavender, raspberry coulis, rosewater, under-ripe strawberry and wet earth. Wonderful texture, sappy and succulent. Medium body, medium acid, soft, barely there tannin with a medium finish. Palate mirrors the nose, a floral raspberry/tart strawberry amalgam of deliciousness. Easy drinking, plenty of interesting complexity. Definite re-buy.

The Cuvée 1809 from Coutelas is composed of 80% Chardonnay and 20% Pinot Noir from vines over 40 years old. It is vinified in oak without malolactic fermentation and is aged for over eight years on the lees, on a cork, not a crown cap. 6g/L dosage.
Color - translucent golden straw
Nose - mature. mushroom, wet earth, bruised apple, lemon and slate
Palate - green apple, salted lemon, mushroom, hint of thyme, good minerality. Medium body, medium plus acid, medium plus finish.
A real treat. Tastes pretty old, so I wouldn't age this further. Ready to pop and pour for anyone who enjoys earthy, dry Champagne.

What a treat. Served at cellar temp and allowed to breathe for 20-30 min before tasting. Beautiful golden straw color. The nose had bruised apples, wet slate, lemon confit, pear and wet hay. The palette was so rich. Apple pie, toasted hazelnut, lemon zest and a touch of mushroom. Really lush, wonderful texture. Medium acid. Medium plus body. Long finish. Just starting to develop secondary characteristics, this is a 5+ year return before trying again to see some real development in the mid-palette.

This is so yummy. Served chilled, pop (not really, screw top) and pour.

Nose: under-ripe strawberry, raspberry, white pepper, green bell pepper. This is all lovely red fruits and lightly vegetal earth.

Palette: Light body, medium-plus acid, medium-light tannin. Very mineral, red fruited juice with nice texture. Moderate finish with a hint of spice and bell pepper mirroring the nose.

This is my kind of everyday drinking red. Fresh, plenty of interest with regard to complexity, with no need of aging or worry about food pairing. Perfect on it's own, or with pizza or salumi

Showing maturity - somewhat oxidative style, with notes of caramel, mushroom, and stewed stone fruit. The lack of acidity hurt this wine - it needed some cut to balance the diminishing fruit and developing sweetness. The 08 will have a better/longer life. This was better 3-4 years ago.

I really enjoyed this. I decanted the bottle for 10 hours before enjoying with dinner (I didn't deliberately mean for it to be quite that long - just had a long day at work).
Pale ruby color - really beautiful. Nose of kirsch liqueur, mint, eucalyptus, rose water and cherries. The nose had this nice herbal quality to it. Medium body, medium high acid, moderate tannin (but I really enjoyed the little bit of grip from the tannin). More cherry, eucalyptus and thyme on the palette. A little bit of white pepper on the finish.
I served this a little chilled (cellar temp) and really enjoyed the herbal/sour cherry flavors and bouquet. I don't think this needed as many hours as I gave it, but it certainly didn't hurt at all. Very enjoyable, feminine Barbaresco.

WOW. Buying more immediately. Beautiful golden straw color, with tiny, minuscule beads. Nose of bruised apple, wet earth, mushroom, slate and oyster shells. Medium plus acid. Lush mouth-feel. Medium plus body. Earthy, dry and oh so incredibly balanced palette. Can't believe this is extra brut. This needs 5-10 years to really open up and shine. Delicate, very floral with a lot of bright acidity. Not super smokey. The palette had some of the typical nebbiolo tar, but this was mostly roses. Needed every minute of the 8 hours it was decanted. Had plenty of barnyard on pouring. Enjoyed, but maybe not fully my style. Everyone else loved it.

Now this was a really cool wine. Nose was totally unique. I felt like it was reminiscent of a bell pepper marinated in dark fruit. It was earthy and fresh. Lush fruit, tons of spice and a lovely streak of minerality. I thought it was really well balanced, but if I were to buy another I wouldn't open it for maybe 3-5 years. The part that stuck out the most was the complexity - there was a lot going on and a lot to enjoy.

Fantastic floral nose. Just explodes from the glass. Easily my favorite part of the wine. The palette, while delicious, doesn't quite deliver on the promise of the nose - blackberry and white pepper, with fully integrated tannin. I feel like this one could have used another three years to fill out on the palette and gain some complexity. The 06 was better, but this was still delicious.
