3/18/24, 10:37 AM - Thanks for the very informative note.
2/17/23, 11:22 AM - That sounds like a bad bottle.
10/23/22, 4:39 PM - Thanks very much for the great note. In my experience, bold reds age particularly slowly at 50 degrees. I've set my units to 55-57 FWIW.
4/15/22, 10:46 AM - Agree with you!
3/3/22, 5:16 AM - Thank you! My favourite wine ever!
10/30/21, 3:31 PM - Agree as well. Enjoying this tonight. Very citrus-y at this stage, would love to have it again in a couple of years when it’s taken on the richness and nutty/floral notes.
10/31/21, 1:14 PM - @LITEITONFIRE - yes, quite possibly. We took our time drinking this bottle and it did mellow out with some swirling. Good thought -- save for the next one :)
10/7/21, 11:23 AM - Happy and sorry to hear. Having this wine in Burgogne this evening. 90 Euros on the restaurant list! It is sublime.
8/12/21, 11:18 AM - Thank you both for your comments, much appreciated.
10/4/21, 9:09 AM - @MardySJ, I was asking both questions actually: where are you, and why are you not here? You were successful!
8/25/21, 4:41 PM - Having this in Quebec City at dinner this evening — all on the inspiration of your note. Just opened, so very early, but lovely.
2/7/21, 9:31 AM - Sounds like you had a wonderful bottle. Why is it showing as flawed?
2/9/21, 7:51 AM - I think you can "un-drink" that bottle and then re-drink it!
1/8/21, 1:27 PM - Thanks Jeff. Had our last bottle of this. Agree with your note -- completely.
12/11/20, 2:08 PM - Hard to imagine that this wine would merit that score. Perhaps you had a bad bottle? Or perhaps it had been sitting open for a long while?
12/6/20, 10:15 AM - Hi srh. Yes, decanted for two hours. Allowed those smoky coffee and milk chocolate notes to develop. Enjoyed with aged ribeyes cooked sous-vide and seared under extremely high heat (Otto Wilde grill), served with a Brussels sprout salad and sweet potato mash.
5/22/20, 11:53 AM - Many thanks srh for your comment and appreciation.
11/1/19, 9:35 AM - I agree with you. We had the very same wine on the very same evening as you, and our impressions were pretty much the same as yours. Thanks!
9/24/18, 9:54 AM - Thank you for the kind acknowledgment and the meaningful review!
1/4/18, 10:46 AM - These wines do shut down for a while -- anyone's guess how long. Patience will be rewarded!
11/8/17, 5:16 AM - And . . . do you have a comment on the wine? :)
8/13/17, 11:55 AM - Sounds like you may have had a bad bottle after all . . .
3/15/17, 7:32 AM - Great note, many thanks Peter.
3/5/17, 10:29 AM - Many thanks wineotim!
1/8/17, 4:29 PM - Many thanks for the feedback mark2eye
12/31/16, 8:30 AM - Congrats and thanks for posting your notes!! That's what makes this community so great.
11/10/16, 12:11 PM - Thanks for your comment wineotim. This is a stunner. Just finished my last bottle of the 1990, which was brilliant too.
6/11/16, 8:30 AM - Pleasure Chatters. There is no great hurry to drink this, and it seems that time is the friend of the sulphury notes, so I would definitely hold for 3-5. If you're in Toronto, let me know and I'll share a bottle with you, as I have a few more!
5/8/16, 4:24 PM - Sounds like you had a flawed bottle. The spearmint is quite a telltale sign, which I've experienced before.
4/23/16, 3:12 PM - Sounds like you had a bad bottle.
8/28/15, 8:27 AM - So delighted that you enjoyed this! Thank you for the feedback.
7/2/15, 5:58 AM - Thanks BillyT. You sell yourself short. Your comment has more useful information on this wine than many comments from those who espouse the "winespeak". Keep posting!
1/6/15, 7:01 AM - Thanks Edgar! Next time I'm in Zurich I'll have to share a bottle with you--my parents live in Switzerland.
10/22/14, 5:54 PM - Thanks for asking. The drinking windows really depend on your preferences. If you like the ports aged to the point of nuttiness and very complex fruit and secondary aromas, then you would wait 30 to 40 years past the vintage. My Taylors from the 70s are long gone. I'm enjoying my 1992s and 1994s, but many would suggest that's way too premature. For me they're perfect. Given the fortification, I don't think it makes a ton of difference whether you open the 375 or the 750 at 20 years. Older, yes.
9/17/14, 5:18 PM - My first bottle of this was corked, but the second bottle . . . well, quite lovely! Enjoy.
9/15/14, 3:29 PM - Thanks for the suggestion. I've always found that understanding how a wine shows against others gives one a further perspective on the wine.
5/31/14, 12:43 PM - Thanks to the two kind folk who posted comments.
6/9/14, 10:23 AM - Greg Munyard, thanks for your very thoughtful note.
6/10/14, 6:09 AM - Hear hear, Greg. And how amazing is it that we're sitting on other sides of the world sharing these great experiences! Thanks again. R
6/4/14, 6:09 AM - Yes, I had it again last evening, and there is no rush. In fact, it will probably improve over the next few years. Enjoy!
5/10/14, 2:28 PM - Congratulations! A lovely wine to celebrate such a momentous occasion.R
6/24/13, 1:31 PM - Would be great to have your scores. Thanks!
