started serving around 1 hour and 15 minutes after decanting. The nose was beautiful, showing tobacco smoke, lots of cedar, really woodsy and nice, minty nose. Also showing a good amount of sweet fruit and exotic spices. There's a nice degree of richness here, not quite so much that I would describe it as jammy. It was actually very elegant yet still had the power and concentration, reaching a fairly beautiful balance at this point in time.

level was a tad below top shoulder. Drank 20 minutes after opening without decanting. The nose was more floral and elegant, with notes of leather, a little smoke, and a little graphite. After a little more than an hour the wine was still holding up somewhat, with more prominent nose of smoke. About 1½ hours in the wine was really, really open and showing beautifully, with loads of leather and a big, toasty nose, along with some coffee, too. Very happy with this bottle, and in the end it turned out better than my previous bottle from 3 years ago.

level was a tad below top shoulder. Drank 20 minutes after opening without decanting. Definitely smoky on the nose, initially showing well and better than the 61 Ducru, bigger and more concentrated on the palate, but there was perhaps a tiny hint of wet cardboard. Love the complexity here, with lots of woodsy and cedar nose, and still got the fruity cassis.

drank 2 hours after double-decanting. While decanting the fruit was really sweet and explosive, but it had mellowed out when we started drinking. Much more elegant by then, but still lovely.

still showing lots of toasty notes from the barrel, but they are more integrated now and more elegant. Smoother on the palate these days. That nose was really, really big... soooo fragrant and fruity, and of course really toasty!

very yeasty nose with a little brioche. Good acidity balance on the palate, but later on the acidity got more prominent.

served about 2 hours after decanting. There was more green capsicum on the nose than I had expected, but otherwise the nose was very smoky. There was still some ripe fruit here but no longer front-and-center, while black peppercorns were now more obvious. The wine was showing pretty elegantly after about 2½ hours in the decanter, about the same time that my last bottle reached its peak.

drinking after 1 hour in the decanter. The nose was really sharp and alcoholic, and also really ripe with lots of stewed prunes. Maybe this was a tiny bit dusty and corked? Pretty exotic nose with woodsy notes, and there's some vanilla here, along with a tiny bit of leather.

Decanted for 10 minutes before pouring back to the bottle and stoppered for about 1 hour before serving. good fruit and a little ripe now, with plenty of smoke and tobacco. Showing very well now and the nose was very fragrant, with a little woodsy notes. Clearly more elegant of the pair.

Decanted for 10 minutes before pouring back to the bottle and stoppered for about 1 hour before serving. more smoky with a bigger nose of toast. Also a little more earthy, followed by a bit more wood. Definitely more grippy on the palate thanks to the tannins.

double-decanted back in bottle after 15 minutes, and drank 1 hour after opening. Nose was really fragrant, with really ripe fruit, but alcohol was a little sharp and hot on the nose. Lots of wood here, and this was so nice. About 1½ hours after opening this was even better, and the wine was just so alluring. Alcohol was really sharp on the nose now around 2 hours and 45 minutes after opening, and the wine has clearly peaked, but started to show a little coffee on the nose.

decanted and served. Ripe and sweet fruit, exotic spices, almost a little coconut at first, and lots of vanilla. 30 minutes later there was a ton of oak. After 1 hour in decanter the wine showed lots of dried herbs and pine needles, and tons of coconut butter. Classic Aussie Shiraz. Still going strong more than 2 hours later.

decanted and served around 45 minutes after opening. Very fragrant and floral nose, with leather and more meaty notes, still very much alive but vitality was not the same as our last bottle 3 years ago. Certainly more mellow now. Two hours after opening this was drinking beautifully and still going strong.

the nose was sooo fragrant. Obviously very much oxidized so there's that marmalade both on the nose and the palate. The palate was ripe but the acidity was still there. Got some lemon, Chinese angelica, caramelized sugar, straw, a little flint and petrol, and also vanilla on the nose. Drinking really well.

a little pungent on the nose with sulfates, but very heavy toast which stayed like this till the end. Pretty high acidity on the palate. Made from riesling so there is definitely some of that character on the palate, with a hint of floral notes, but the nose was Burgundian bongwater. I really dig this!

big whiff of petrol, definitely white flowers, a bit of honey and pollen on the nose. On the palate there was some marmalade, lemon curd, and it was lightly sweet but still got the acidity for balance. Some bitterness mid-palate, too, along with a little mineral like pear.

drank 1 hour after decanting. Nice and fragrant, woodsy fragrance, almost sandalwood. Very fruity, blackcurrant, nice leather, a little floral and soapy on the finish. So beautiful another half hour later with grilled meats, definitely like Côte-Rôtie now, sweet, caramel. Still pretty good after 2½ hours in the decanter.

decanted and showed a very big nose of sweet fruit while decanting. Smoky nose with lots of plum. Some 40 minutes later the nose was wonderfully woodsy, really fragrant in the mouth on the finish. Ripe and juicy, there's good concentration without strong tannins. Still pretty good more than 2½ hours later but has gone off its peak by then.

very young so this was a bit on the tannic side for me. Notes of blackcurrants and blackberries, minerals, and not quite metallic, which could be coming from riesling.

ID 319028 (169ème Édition), en demi-bouteille - acidity was much higher than I had expected. Good marmalade notes on the nose with good ripeness, and certainly yeasty. Definitely more lean on the palate.

showing beautifully just after 20 minutes in the decanter. Plenty of leather, floral, lavender notes, with game meats. So fragrant! Sweet and almost jammy on the nose. Even better at 30 minutes. After one hour this was so fragrant with lots of cedar and woodsy notes. Still going strong after 2 hours, with a tiny hint of smoked meats now.

drank 20 minutes after decanting. Showing leather, dark fruits, and a hint of floral fragrance. After 40 minutes this was bigger on the palate, and very smooth on the palate after 1 hour, showing silky textures. On the nose now showing a little grilled meats... yeah, definitely on the meaty side now.

drank 20 minutes after decanting. Initially this was lean, without much fruit other than some black plums. Acidic both on the nose and on the palate, which was surprising. About 40 minutes in there was more vanilla and oak showing on the nose, while being sweeter on the palate, too. More than 1 hour and 40 minutes in, the tannins were still showing here and continued to accumulate on the tongue with additional sips.
