PNP and drank over next 3 hours. Air helped but pretty good from the start. I tend to judge Bdx more from the nose and Cndp from the mid-palate and that’s where Clos des Papes excels. Bright red fruit, hints of pepper and herbs in the mouth with outstanding tension and finesse through to the long finish. The palate really sets this wine apart. It will probably improve and become more expressive just like past vintages, but it’s also drinking well right now. Take your pick.

Opened and poured into glass and gave it air for 15 minutes. Started as a 93. Nicely resolved tannins with great fruit - candied cherry and blackberry plus earth. Slight decline over the next 3 hours that resulted in a final rating of 91.
Unlike the Martinellis of a decade ago during the height of Helen Turley's influence, the new Martinellis pair well with food. I consider this to be a substantial improvement over the previous regime.

This is soooo good; fleshy, ripe fruit, succulent, enticing profile, with a full finish. This is my favorite Martinelli Pinot Noir Vineyard, always consistently great.

9/4/21, 9:26 AM - I think the Bondi has the best longevity of the Martinelli Pinots. I just had the 2014 and feel that it is at peak and will hold here at least 5 more years. I also recently drank a 2003 Bondi and it was definitely still enjoyable still but probably going downhill.
