What a wonderful surprise! Immaculately stored bottle, although cork broke upon opening.

Typical Cos nose of green peppers. On the palate fruit was still present and tannins completely integrated. Did not require decanting as flavours were showing very well. The wine continued to open up over the course of 2hrs. I would think this will last another decade easily.

I was really impressed considering the vintage. Only challenge is to find another 1991 around!

On the first pour, the nose was slightly restraint. On the palate it was soft and full of sweet ripe fruit.

After an hour, the nose opened into a wonderful bouquet. On the palate, there was more grip, likely due to the vintage.

Still youthful, with a long finish. Hard to believe a Volnay could possess such masculinity!

From of bottle benefitting from good storage, the cork was immaculate with excellent fill.

For a mediocre 1993, the bouquet was absolutely stunning. All the elegance of an aged Pauillac and that of Lalande. However, the palate was rather acidic and sharp initially, with an abrupt finish.

After a couple hours in the decanter, the nose continued to develop. One could now pick up wafts of ripe berries, seasoned leather and cedar wood. At this time, the tannins have mellowed down and softened. On the palate the wine showed some fruit and the finished was prolonged.

It just goes to show how great Pauillac wines could really bring across that ethereal quality even in poor vintages.

A great value!

An intoxicating perfume of ripe berries, black truffles and kirsch.

So wonderfully smooth and rounded on the palate, it is like drinking liquid silk. Powerful but feminine, with a seamless finish.

Easily another 2 decades ahead.

Pure and sexy!

Dark red colour, with the aroma of the wine filling the room once it was poured into the decanter.

A little muted on the palate, but after 30min or so, the dark stone fruit started to come through.

Interestingly, all the tannins were well integrated at 20years old. I can expect this wine to last at least another decade.

Poured from an immaculate bottle. Colour of the was dark purple. Strong and powerful, with notes of mocha and dark berries.

Finish was long, but a tad cloying on the back palate reminiscent of glycerine.

Nose was also robust with hints of cinnamon, but softened with jammy notes.

An excellent effort.

Opened this bottle of my birth year on my birthday. Sommelier had some problems opening the bottle, which resulted in the cork breaking. Wine was filtered into a decanter which still appeared dark with no signs of ageing.

The immediate nose was closed and muted on the palate, finishing with a tinge of iron.

After an hour in the decanter, the wine started to awaken. The nose was a combination of fresh berries and ripe plums. On the palate, the tannins were well integrated but finish was amazingly long. Towards the end, some hints of mocha and tobacco came through. There was still good acidity and power, which masked the fact that the wine is already 36years young.

I think the wine could have benefitted from a further hour or two of decanting, but nevertheless, there is still a good decade or so ahead.

Very strong bouquet upon popping the cork. After an hour in the decanter, the fruit all started to show and continued evolving to give an amazing perfume that was almost irresistible.

On the palate, the tannins were well integrated and the finish was long.

This was the 2nd bottle I had and it showed much better than the one tasted 2 years ago where it was drunk too quickly. Give the wine at least 2hours in the decanter and the magic will evolved.

Plenty of life left in this.
