Raisins, dark toffee, and some spice. A nice way to cap the night.

Served blind, I thought this was a New World chardonnay. Nope, it was modern-style white Rioja!

Unfortunately at this point in the night my palate was a bit shot, but I recall this being a very nice drink.

Apparently the multiple half full bottles lying around weren't enough, so Fu grabbed this out of my cellar at the end of the night. Really awesome perfumed nose of strawberry and flowers. One of the noses of the night for me. On the palate this was round and supple, but also with a bit of crunchiness to the fruit that really made the texture interesting. Great wine.

I think this may have been premoxed :-(. If not totally gone, it definitely was showing overly honeyed. A shame, because you could see potential under the oxidation.

Citrus, flowers, brioche, yellow fruits, great minerality and fantastic precision. Really effervescent and electric. This was a total crowd pleaser.

Despite looking a bit dark, I thought that this was remarkably fresh, with pretty, round fruit, hints of citrus and some lovely white floral tones. Not on the same level as the Bouchard and Coche, but a really nice drink that kept getting better with time in the decanter.

This was a real treat. Initially this was dominated by dried flowers, berries, and earthy notes. These eventually softened into a really pretty mix with acidity adding a nice bit of freshness to the mature earthy elements. Great.

This was a nice Perrieres, showing round yellow fruit and slight florals, although it could have used a bit more acidity.

This had a pretty nose of dark fruit and spice, but it was a bit clunky on the palate. Still enjoyable, but a bit disappointing for a Leroy BM.

This was a great surprise. Really nice spice and chunky dark fruit on both the nose and palate. This had a solid palate presence, and had great acidity to balance out the fruit. I really liked this!

Characteristic Dujac perfume of stem-driven spice, flowers and snappy red berries. Oh how I love that Dujac nose! This had very nice fruit on the palate, and I thought it firmed up over time. Where initially it seemed a little light at first, it became fleshier and more substantial throughout the night. Fred set aside a small glass early in the night and it was showing incredibly well hours after being opened. Great stuff.

One of the noses of the night to me, with an alluring perfume of flowers, strawberry, and gentle spice. This was a bit light on the palate, where it showed its age somewhat, but it was still terrific. Definitely a fan favorite, despite one vocal detractor.

Initially, I wasn't terribly impressed, especially next to the Bouchard Montrachet. Throughout the night - and after a double decant - the wine really opened up, and by the time I got to my last glass this was really something, with that classic Coche matchstick, a hint of spice, and generous white fruit and flowers.

Oxidized or not oxidized, that was the question. The answer was "slightly oxidized." There was apple, a very slight breadiness, and some nice tertiary components alongside the oxidative notes. Minimal effervescence, but still an enjoyable drink. I'm glad to have tried this, but I think that there are probably better bottles out there.

After spending a couple hours in the decanter, this was showing a really pretty nose of flowers and bright red fruit. The palate was very tight initially, but I thought that it opened up appreciably with air and by the end of the night was drinking very well, with a silky texture and nice fruit presence.

This was dominated by dark fruit, dark florality, and a certain spiciness on the nose that I associate with DRC. Lots of structure here, but still supple in the mouth. Despite its youth, I thought this showed very well, though its potential for substantial improvement is incredibly obvious.

This was a great white Burgundy, showing copious yellow fruit and great power. Despite the concentration, there was a sense of precision that really rounded this wine out. This really blossomed into something special with lots of time in the decanter, with enveloping aromas and flavors. Lovely.

Roulot is so ridiculously pure. This was like drinking crystalline water – that tastes like wine – from a clear mountain spring. To be honest, it was a bit too pure for me at first, but it opened up later in the night to some buttery tropical and yellow fruit.

An interesting and hard to describe wine. There were some savory notes on the nose and palate and it was a bit funky, but not in a bad way. My friends did not like it, but I thought it was pretty neat.

A gentleman from a table over poured this for us and we shared our wines as well. Very good, strong fruit but mild tannins. Maybe a hint of green pepper (though my more Burg-oriented friends thought it had way too much green pepper for their palates). I liked this a lot and found it way more open than the last time I had this a couple years ago.

Another fantastic wine! All sorts of white flowers and peach and orchard fruits and flint. Deep and expansive but also pure and focused. Really stunning. Actually, this whole flight ('86, '90, '09 Coche Perrieres) was stunning, even with the oxidation on the 1986. Bottom line: Coche rocks my socks.

This was just off the charts awesome. The perfume jumps right of the glass and pulls you in, with a lot of the elements of the 1986 but with fresher fruit aromas, that classic Coche matchstick and a hint of coffee on the nose too. This wine was round, wide open, and just delicious.

Although with air the wine showed a bit oxidized/advanced, the nose on this was excellent, with white flowers and fruit and a hint of botrytis. On the palate it was lacking a bit of acid, but I still really enjoyed it.

Similar to the one I had at the Spectrum auction a few weeks ago, but with even more prominent bell pepper/herbal notes. This was definitely a change of pace from the silky smooth, perfumed DRCs.
