2016 Xanadu Exmoor Margaret River Sémillon-Sauvignon Blanc Blend (view label images)
Fruit forward - Apricot and pear on the nose and tongue. A little hint of citrus. Less minerals than typical Sauvignon Blanc.
Red
Plumb and earth. Some blackberry and spice. The slightest tinge of anise. Tannins come out relatively smoothly in the mid-palette. Nice.
Red
Surprisingly fresh blueberries cherry a little almond and spice and a subtle touch of sweet oak
Red
Meaty notes mushrooms and spice - a more substantive CDP - held up to steak and Caesar
Red
Dark berries and black currant. Medium burgundy color. Alcohol up front but nice. Pepper and minerals. Larkspur stems on the nose.
White
An oily note like citrus rind oil or flower oils...it gives it almost a buttery feel but not quite ... peach but not sweet peach on the mid palate...definitely need to drink the 6 bottles I have left in the next year as I think it may be starting to fade...

White
Lemongrass and lime, not as mineral as NZ Wines. There is a little bit of grapefruit rind. Has a slightly buttery mouth feel - unusual for sauv but good.
White
Have had a few bottles of this now. Consistently nice.
White - Sparkling
If you like Veuve Clicquot you will like this. It’s nice and light. Not extremely complicated. Great after a long hot hard day...this one was a 350 ml bottle...it won’t last until morning;)
Red
Some say this is past its prime I disagree. Leather, mulberry, dark cherry, tinge of cedar, there is a slight tartness to it that I can’t put my finger on...maybe sour cherry. A warm twist of baking spices and is that baked celery? Smooth, velvety tannins. Bought back in 2013 to cellar...sad this was my last bottle.
White
Still delicious! Cut the high beef fat coated bone marrow stew I made...I know… You’re thinking why didn’t I drink a red with this. But this was nice on a hot night and paired well...like “deglazing my palette”.
Red
Lots of very ripe fruit and pencil shavings, plumb and graphite shades of red pepper and black pepper not bad for price would have been great with pizza.
White
Still like it. Dry but flowers, fruit and perfume. And, there’s a subtle and pleasant slight bitterness in the back of the tongue.
Red
Perhaps the last bottle that I drink I’ve gone bad but this one was much better and had all the Velvety smoothness of CDP. Did another Verticle with the 2013. Both delicious.
Red
Easy drinking inexpensive Rhône from Trader Joe’s - I need to get more while they have 2016s!
White
This is a surprisingly refreshing white from Spain. I would drink it for the label alone! It’s lovely.

Pronounced tannins calmed down after an hour or so. Drinkable but the flavors hadn’t quite melded together.

Nice strong tannins - very dark purple, almost black, but not bricking at all. Cigar, earthy moss, slight hint of citrus rind, a bit of blackberry. This wine will still be delicious in 10 years.

White
Apricot Citrus and green apple and just a touch of wood. Minerals as normal from New Zealand Sauv but the surprise is that the salt stands out more than the granite almost like a Muscadet.
Red
Bought at University Club Tasting April 2019 - spicy and grippy from “mad scientist” - And very unique in that each bottle, and though it is the same wine in the same vintage, has a different picture of a beautiful girl and a car. I’m going to hold onto this awhile longer before I drink my bottles.
White
Most amazing flower perfume on the nose - starts kind of boring and watery but finishes with fruit and flowers and perfume, I wanted to take a shower in it
White
Tastes like golden delicious apples, silky, a touch butter at the end, dry
White - Sparkling
Light and citrus - especially citrus rind - twinge bitter notes from that but they are very complimentary and add to the very mineral driven sparkles.

Lime rind/skin in abundance, stones and straw. The lime rind gives it just a hint of bitter and sour in a way that is nice. There’s just a touch of creaminess to it - but JUST a touch. Lime rind is definitely predominant.

Full body, deep garnet, medium tannins. Taste of leather, cedar and spice. Plum and black cherry seem to be the most noticeable fruit. Definitely improves after it has been open for an hour or so. Don't just pop this one and try to drink it.

I admit it...I’m a sucker for paisley! So the label had me at Hello! Usually I would be leery of such colorful and nice packaging on an inexpensive wine - wondering, what’s to hide? Yellow/green color. I smell grass. I taste grass. And rhubarb leaves. But there’s also dominating pineapple with delightful minerals. Add JUST a touch of creamy texture and it’s surprisingly more complex than one would expect! The Spanish are colorful and fun people - that must account for the label.

Strawberry and dry - a few hints of lemongrass. Believe it or not, let it breathe a little - it’s better that way.

Nice wine - kinda light - not sweet - hints of baking spices - strawberry and raspberries - not very complex but very pleasant - could drink with light foods - but is mellow and almost refreshing on its own

This was surprising- mineral Sav with bubbles - delicious

Yeast bread pear a touch of lychee and a hint of butter
White - Sparkling
This wine had fairly tight bubbles and notes of biscuit and pear but dry. Drank all by itself no pairing and it was delightful.
Red
Light smooth fresh good value
White - Sparkling
It’s just beautiful- it has the perfect balance of fruit, mostly pear and toast and butter - medium size bubbles but the refinement would seem to go with it. It’s wonderful.

Love this wine! Got a case from Last Bottle Wines. Fun, wonderful, light citrus and apple. Delicious.

It might be inexpensive but it drinks like a better bottle. This has become my "go to sparkling" for more everyday stuff - like drinking with food...serving to friends...a boring Tuesday...

Pepper spice hint of oak. Stood up well to a spicy brisket I made.

This wine is a little past it’s prime in 2018. It’s fine just weak. Bit watery. Need to drink other right away. Doesn’t need to breathe just drink when it comes out of the bottle - actually better when it was first decanted then later.

1994 Cafaggio Chianti Classico Villa Cafaggio Riserva Chianti Classico DOCG Sangiovese Blend, Sangiovese (view label images)
We let this wine breathe for only about 30 minutes. We decanted it. Surprisingly little sediment. It still had wonderful spice notes to it that had nicely mellowed with time. i wouldn't want to let it age for much longer. If you have it, I would certainly drink it now.

It is true what they say - "Sancerre" - as much fun to say as it is to drink! Flowers and fruit on the nose and combines with the most delicious minerals. Definitely citrus but absolutely dry and fantastic. Make sure you let it hit the back and sides of your tongue to appreciate all of its splendor. I bought a case. If I can keep my hands out of it...I plan to let it age and see what happens!

Drinking a 2015 in 2018 its came out of the bottle with a punch. It started out very strong and spicy and actually tart. It overwhelmed the Vietnamese Meatballs I had made for dinner. So I set it aside...after dinner and an hour to breathe it was much more mellow and very dry and I definitely caught the leather and minerals with just a bit of wood. The tannins were more noticeable an hour later and I liked what they did. I bought six bottles...I think I will definitely let them age another 5 years...

Smooth and comforting like a great light blanket. Plumb, mellow spices, balanced tannins. Would drink with or without food and like it no matter what everyone else thinks. Had it for the first time at a wine paring dinner at St Jacques in Raleigh, NC.

This wine was balanced but interesting. It's dry but you can definitely pick up on the cherry overtones in the nose and on the tongue. I disagree with other reviews that claim it's mediocre...we bought six bottles as a "drink now" purchase that we recently brought home from the vineyard in France. Of course there is romance when you are drinking in chateau...but it was also delightful when we got home!

Went to the vineyard with Pierre Fernandez (Wine Prestige Tour), fell in love. Met Julien, the lead family member in creating Pure. There is something special about the young man adding his mark to this domaine. He's stirring a new breeze into a place that doesn't really need to change a thing - but he only enhances it with what he is adding. We begged for 6 bottles of the 2016 (which there were only a few left)... lucky us... It's so fantastic now, already has silky tannins, berries, herbs, earth, a little chocolate...I really want to drink my prized bottles now! But, alas...I must sit on them for a few years! I will update when I do!

This bottle might not be an 89 to everyone, but it worked for me because my husband loved it. (He is partial to Granache.) I definitely got strawberry notes on the tongue and fruit and cigars on the nose. Fresh without tasting too young. Great price for an everyday wine.
