7/4/24, 1:46 PM - Thanks for the hint on this wine. Sounds like it is worth a try!
4/29/24, 1:35 AM - Does not sound flawed to me?! :)
3/1/24, 3:19 AM - Sure, it means volatile acidity. For me that is the smell of vinegar, sometimes nail polish or glue. This is what the Decanter has to say: ‘At extreme levels, VA can be quite affronting, in much the same way as vinegar or nail-polish remover can be if smelled too strongly, and ultimately the aromas can overtake a wine if it is not robust enough to balance.’https://www.decanter.com/learn/volatile-acidity-va-45532/
12/22/23, 6:23 AM - God does not mind if the bottle has a CT rating over 90 points. So you are good.
12/9/23, 11:51 AM - I am sorry to hear that and can understand your anger! Otherwise, it is got to know and I will not order more from them...Especially funny/sad because I think they have a slogan on their site advertising their temperature controlled warehouse.
12/10/23, 9:25 AM - Good to get the word out there about subpar (or even shady) merchants!
8/12/23, 9:11 AM - Thank you for your note. I might add two things:1. From my experience, this is way too young. Better give the Rhini around ten years in the cellar.2. The wines from Ziereisen are a tad lower in fruit, but usually show a nice cherry fruit. I appreciate the lower intensity of fruit flavors.
8/4/23, 3:21 AM - Great note, thanks!
7/25/23, 3:47 AM - Hi macaujames, thanks for the note and pointing out this wineI am intrigued, is it really that good? I cannot find much about this wine or producer anywhere else. I guess I have to get myself some bottles. :)
7/26/23, 6:05 AM - Thanks, I will order some bottles!
7/13/23, 5:35 AM - Dave, very good description of the characteristic and current state of this wine. Matches my experience that it seems quite developed. For my other two bottles, I will follow the tasting notes and open them rather sooner than later. Cheers Lukas
7/8/23, 6:18 PM - Hi Dave, thanks for your comment. What aspect do you think would improve with aeration/age? I have no experience with Brunello really, but I had my fair share of Sangiovese wines and this one seems already quite developed. I have two bottles left and I have no idea where they are headed.
7/10/23, 4:28 AM - Hi Dave, clearly you know what you are talking about and I appreciate the information. The wine is now 2 days open, let's see how it presents itself tonight. One thing that will not change though is that, in my book a wine with 15% ABV is never subtle..
7/10/23, 10:26 AM - Hello again Dave, I am keen to try other vintages of this wine, preferably the ones with lower alcohol. The style of wine you describe is exactly what I am looking for. Wines that are not masked by wood, but where it is used as an addition to make the wine more complex. And yes, I also have a soft spot for wines from Piedmont. I love Nebbiolo...Cheers Lukas
6/28/23, 1:53 PM - That's a shame! I am in the process of getting a better picture of that producer. We had a really nice Centgrafenberg '15 a few weeks ago, which scored something like 91-93 for me. But other wines I had from them were not as good and also had a bit too much oak.
5/15/23, 9:26 AM - Thanks @TimmyR, that is very helpful. I will shoot them a message and see what they say. Would love to see this wine at its full potential!
3/8/23, 10:23 AM - You probably know this already, but the term “Feinherb” always indicates a semi-sweet wine. Cheers!
11/30/22, 8:43 AM - I have found it to be approachable and this is my general impression with young BDX (3-4 yrs). With this wine, I mostly wanted to get my own impression, because I have twelve bottles of it.It is a young wine for sure, with some extraction and tannins, but this did not lower my enjoyment of the wine. I was drinking the wine over two days and also put it in the big decanter, this helped the wine to develop some complexity and smooth out the tannins.Hope this helps! Let me know what you think of the wine when you open a bottle.
8/2/22, 12:33 PM - Thanks for the insight, JHH51! 40 years of drinking LB is rather impressive.I have a few more bottles that I will keep and I am excited to see how they turn out in 10, 20 years.
6/28/22, 1:39 PM - I had the 2017 last year and your note is very much on point.
5/30/22, 1:10 AM - Thanks for the great note. The white capsule bottlings of Markus Molitor are dry but definitely not bone dry, so maybe worth a try. If you haven't already.
5/19/22, 4:53 AM - Gewürtz in German means spices — just fyi.
1/7/22, 2:47 PM - Thanks for sharing, a lovely note.
5/16/21, 8:24 AM - Thanks for your note. Maybe you find it interesting that this wine has not seen any new oak and is aged in a large traditional 2000l vat.
5/17/21, 12:07 AM - Yes, I found it interesting that it tasted like it had strong oak treatment. That's why I thought the info is interesting for you, but I see you already knew that. It will be great to see how the other bottle turns out.
4/21/21, 8:20 AM - Thank you for your informative and well written note.Probably like you, I bought this wine at the Moevenpick Sale and opened a bottle last weekend. I agree with your note, only the oily/petrol notes seemed very pronounced for the young age.
4/22/21, 12:28 PM - Yeah, it is great that they such wine on sale. I also saw the St. Antony Orbel but resisted this time...
3/29/21, 2:31 PM - Thanks for providing insight into the other vintages, very interesting! I will try to get them and compare which style I like best.
3/29/21, 1:44 PM - Clearly _not_ a second wine. Different styles each in its own way.
3/15/21, 12:57 AM - I had a Ziereisen Syrah not long ago which was way more herbal, whereas this one I would put more in the fruit category. But a real side-by-side comparison would be nice for sure.
3/11/21, 2:41 AM - I also liked the basis from Wittmann. The organic farming approach is also great. It would be nice to try the GGs. But pricing is...
3/6/21, 6:14 AM - You did not write a note on the 2015 though, correct?
3/8/21, 8:54 AM - Let's say I did not look thoroughly enough...Thanks, for both notes, very helpful!
6/9/20, 9:21 AM - It is also hard for me to believe that this is added sulfur. Because what Mark said is true, Teschke is not known for that. I am not doubting that there was something wrong with this bottle. Maybe the bottle was just flawed?I would urge you to try another bottle from him. But certainly not everyone agrees with his style.
1/4/21, 4:32 AM - In the meantime I also tried this wine and I have to agree with the initial comment. Too much sulfur added. I can only guess if this was a fault in the cellar or on purpose..Yes the wine is drinkable, but the true beauty is hidden somewhere under the SO2. One more thing to add: This is the only Teschke wine where experienced this phenomenon until now.
7/8/20, 3:42 AM - If I had to guess I would say K.H. stands for a firstname, something like "Karl-Heinz".
3/27/20, 8:31 AM - 50 Points? Are you sure? :)
Thanks for letting us know about this problem. We will review your comments and be in touch soon with an update.
