Excellent, great flavors a balance with a juicy sweet finish. One magi left will try and hold off for special occasions.

Outstanding aromas, light color and flavors. Ideal for pasta with light sauces. Tannins are still noticeably present on delicate finish.

After further review…and consumption of said wine. I have adjusted my rating to 98!
As others have noted the lasts sips can be a life changer…. well, at least a Score changer! Wow! 98+

First comment:
Gracefully wine with superior fruit flavors. Tannins still need time. However the finish seems to lasts for minutes! I would visit it again on 3-5.

Not overwhelming in any one area yet , on point to the pinochle in all! Primary for sure. Enjoyed drinking it!! Needs 2-20 more years ha! Got 2 more will try to be patient… more patient!

Slight to moderate Brett. with this bottle, didn’t stop me from enjoying it! Though the spice and medical factors did take away from my pleasure a bit! The Brett seemed to dissipated slightly as the wine saw more oxygen. The previous bottle was much better- no Brett! 3 more 750 and a magi left. We’ll see what the others are like…. Soon!

Tasting great now! I’m sure age will only improve it.

No luck staying away from this wine. Not as good as last bottle, but still very enjoyable .
No hope for the remaining 3 750”s- they’ll be goners soon. 1 magi still in cellar. Will try to forget it for a couple years! Enjoyed with Wild Is. Salmon.

Decanted 1 1/2 hrs- no sediment. Nice nose and good acidity, developing but still youthful. Needs another 3-4 years + before opening another bottle. Enjoyed with homemade Chicken cacciatore.

Last bottle (15 of 15) and sad it’s all gone! Still has time 3-4 more years easily. Powerful yet elegant CA Pinot. I decanted this 4 hrs and it hit a new high point for me.

Really impressed with this bottling of Bootlegger 2016. Double decanted for Thanks giving dinner and it was drinking extremely well. I do believe it would benefit greatly from another 3-4 years in the cellar! But with a good decant it is nice now. I have 3 more and will try and hold them for at least 2 more years. Very impressed !

Excellent , drinking greatly now with good fruit and acidity and a spicy & flowery bouquet. Nice finish. Would be even better in a few years, but my bottles are destine for an early demise! 😋 yum!

To me 2007 has alway been a long age vintage, but Instill persist in drinking them too young! Decanted this Abreu Thor. for a few hours as I thieved small pours over the ensuing 4 hours Well balanced and built but not as exciting as I would prefer. Bouquet was initially non existent until the last glass. Had a slight warmth ( but not hot) on the finish and a faint bitterness. Big powerful wine and IMO this blend will need a few more years 2 + to get passed these attributes, but has the structure to go another 20+! Hope to get better results from the next bottle in a few years.

Received half a case from Montelena of this 2003 Estate cab in place of the current release, due to the fires. Class move from a California legendary winery! One of the reasons I’ve been with them for more than 15 years. Had to open one as soon as they arrived. Wow! They make a lighter style cab than most in the valley which I obviously appreciate . This is a 98 cab 2 cab franc and is just singing right now! Reminds me of a first growth Bordeaux with 20+ years of cellar time on it. Classic Montelena !

Nice mild Pinot, not as good as the Bootleggers vineyard in my opinion . Balanced, an early drinker based on this first of 6 and a magi still to come. Hopefully it will fill out! Still like the Cirq bottling better.

I brought a 750 to dinner at 48 deg. And it was received and handed by the restaurant staff perfectly. The wine was supposedly young at this stage, though we found it nuanced and intriguing! Yes, structured but elegantly so. Relentless flavors follow every sip. We had to force ourselves to slow down and be in the moment, to be mindful as it tempts you to keep tasting again and again! Without a doubt it was the WOTN and for me the wine of the year, so far! Champagne wise!
This was no minor soirée as it was our fathers 91st birthday! Needless to say it was immensely enjoyed by the family and especially the guest of honor! Thank you Water Bar Restaurant S.F, CA - what an experience! Thank you.

Lite straw colored, nose is outstandingly inviting with a French vanilla & yeast. Delicate creamy mousse, with Granny Smith apple and ripe D'anjou pear flavors. This wine has a medium lite acidity and is well balanced. Long lingering minerally finish. Should improve with more cellar time, but very nice now! Enjoyed with Ossetra, Creme fresh and homemade buck wheat blinis. Like most wine, improving with oxygen. Could be 96-97 in time.

Bottle 5 of 6; Noticed a little bit of a decline in overall flavor and some drying tannins on the finish. Still in fabulous condition. Nose is just singing now, making it irresistible to repetitive sampling! Fabulous vintage for Dominus and it really shows what ripe California fruit can do for a perfectly aged Bordeaux blend ! Enjoyed with a Prime ribeye.

Not overly promising IMO. Good excuse to have a steak! Hopefully will get better with age. Needs 2-3 yrs at the least. Enjoyable after long decant.

Decanted for several hrs, still big old fashion SoCo Pinot. A little over extracted in my mind. Still should be a rock star in 3-5 years. Big fruit bomb with acid and structure to age for quite some time.
Too young now in my opinion, but more approachable in 3 years or so. I’m going try and age my remaining bottles 3 years and longer, I think this will be a 96-97 pt wine at that time.

This wine is at a great stage and I have one more to drink, think I’ll try to hold it for another 2 years. WOTN!

Much better than the last magi! Didn’t decant this time! Just opened about 1/2 hour before dinner. More fruit and better Bouquet than last bottle. I’m thinking my final bottle can age a bit more and may be as nice or even better! Will not decant!

Day 1 : Upon decanting, 11:30 PM, I had the pleasant aromas of Christmas times past tickle my mind. Christmas tree, holly, cookies and candies. First taste was a little hot, had fine, yet young tannins, they are in need of more aging. The wine is in a semi dumb or sleeping stage today, IMO. Still obviously a pure, precise expressions, though muted slightly at this time. The oak integration is done and with a deft touch. At no point is the oak over done, it constantly appears in a complementary role. This wine needs 6-8 more years before it is approachable, IMHO!

After 2 1/2 hours from decant: Nose is still vague with a slight trace of blueberry. Palette is still a little hot, with a pronounced flavor of blueberries. Tannins are very fine and velvety though still gripping. Very drying finish at this time. It is not at a stage for delivering pleasure to the consumer.
Revisited after 8 + hrs: mellowed and approachable but less flavorful, tired and flat. Defiantly needs 6 - 8 more years in the cellar, may revisit in 2026.

Double Decanted at home, very little sediment, cork in great condition but it’s so old they used small corks back then, so don’t go too deep, or just use an Au-so. Punctured my first bottles cork :(. Needs very little oxygen at this point (IMO). Took to a nice French restaurant with my 90 year old father and we had an epic evening. I believe it’s the Napa fruit that makes this wine stand above the majority of Bordeaux first growths I’ve had. A beautiful wine. Can go a few more years but at its peak, IMO. Wow!
