I’m obviously in the minority from reading the other notes, but I didn’t love this wine. Not a lot of structure. It was just weak and chalky to me. Maybe I need to try again.

1/25/23, 8:28 AM - Just tried it again at another event and liked it a lot. All of the complaints I made in the original comment were not true of the second bottle.

Served at a restaurant in Florence. Younger than I would pull something out of my own cellar, but I figured when in Italy…

Overly ripe fruits and a lack of Tannic structure for me. It’s not what I would’ve expected with the wine this young. Tasted alongside a young Tignanello and liked it much better.

Edit to this note: This was done as PNP. The restaurant was very warm and I am not sure that their cellar was any cooler. This was served at a dinner with friends and not a proper tasting. All of that being said, what I wrote above is what I tasted. I liked that bottle of Tignanello better than the specific bottle of Ornellaia I had that night, but willing to do another taste test! Preferably with a decant, a cooler room and something with some more age.

7/8/22, 2:26 PM - Yeah - who knows? The restaurant was about 85 degrees and I’m not sure if they store their wine much below that temp. I will have to try again and see if I get the same result. Cheers!

Tasted for my birthday alongside Cheval Blanc and Lafite. Heavier than both of those. Excellent Napa cab. Balanced with a long finish.

3/3/21, 7:21 PM - I don’t know. That’s beyond my pay grade - I’m just an amateur who likes good grape juice. I guess I will need to buy a bottle of 2003 and get back to you! 😏
