Strange lack of body and a fermented note. Potentially flawed

Fantastic 'should-be-1er-cru' Marsannay. Stemmy nose. 50% whole-bunch. Limestone soil gives this wine an amazing freshness and gentle acidity. Vertical structure, raspberries, floral elements show after some time in the glass. Sylvain's domaine is getting the attention it deserves.

Deep ruby in the glass with lighter rim. Medium legs. A bright, vibrant nose of vanilla, blackberry and cassis. A touch of nail varnish. On the palate, well-resolved acidity and medium tannins. Classic Cab Sav expression, some green notes, slight minerality. A short finish. Pepper, clove.

Not bad. Too much oak influence. One-dimensional palate. It slips down

I think this is excellent value for money. Has a pinot noir mustiness and that classic savoury character you expect from good Pinot Noir. Served at around 16C it was singing. Slipped down far too quickly!

This clearly has bags of potential but I think it needs another 5 years or so. At the moment it's very serious and slightly too alcoholic. Needs at least 2 hour decant and should be served 18-20C.

Fresh with excellent acidity and fruit balance, great structure. Reminiscent of 1er Cru Burg.

Yeasty. Needs to blow off the yeast so I’ll recommend a 1 hour decant. Afterwards, crisp and tart cherries on the palate, decent longevity. Quite a unique character.

The nose has noticeable oak. Vanilla and 'woody'. Spice, clove, perhaps cinnamon. On the palate, very 'round' and supple fruit, primarily cherry, cassis and a delicious moreish acidity. The tannins reveal themselves on the finish and give the wine a surprising length that is dry but satisfying.

Screw cap. Really interesting nose, spice, clove, a touch of cinnamon, black pepper. Fruit-forward on the palate, medium dry, gentle tannin. Still excellent on day 3. Would buy again

Great value here, inky and rich, plenty of depth and good length. £24. A touch of oak, very well-resolved, reminiscent of great old Rioja.

Excellent value here, crisp acidity, very encouraging length. Fruit a little one-dimensional if I had to criticise. Serve at 15Cish. Impressive for under a tenner and actually reminiscent of good 1er Cru Burg...

It’s definitely not a bad wine, just too alcoholic for me. Blueberry and alcohol on the nose, well-resolved acidity, sharp mouthfeel with decent length, blueberries again, prominent tannin. Day 2 the tannins were still very present; would like to taste again in a few years

Brilliant value here. Reminiscent of good village-level Burgundy, dare I suggest...? Crisp acidity, excellent mineral character, not too fruit-focused. Surprising length and complexity.

Strong offering from Vosne... excellent balance and complexity. My personal opinion is that this wine needs a few more years to soften the acidity. August 2020 it is drinking very well, fresh cherries and sap.

Really great example of single varietal Cabernet Franc. I'd say it needs 30mins decant and should be slightly chilled. The nose is quite vegetal, barnyard, grass, tobacco. The fruit is fresh with a gentle acidity that is well-resolved and dries down into a satisfying length. Jammy mouthfeel. Will be buying again

Fairly standard Bordeaux, noticeable oak throughout. July 2020 the acidity is too intense for my tastes. This potentially needs 5-10 more years of bottle age, or perhaps isn’t that great.

Alcoholic nose, strong ethanol... doesn't fill me with confidence. Palate slightly rounder, moderate tannin, needs rich food, doesn't have the delicacy or complexity to be enjoyed on its own.

Excellent and interesting Rioja. I can support other comments about needing a decant. Initially the wine seems tight, giving off intense vanilla and leather on the nose with sharp tannins and acidity on the palate, blueberry, vanilla again. After some time the fruit softens and reveals fresh raspberry, cherry compote. I would like to taste again in 2-3 years.

Difficult to know what to say about this wine. Lots of oak on the nose. Very dry mouthfeel, not much fruit present. Tannins present. Needs food, doesn't stand on its own particularly well. Not the best value in my opinion.

I'm afraid this just wasn't very well-made. Very one-dimensional, syrupy and alcoholic. Too much residual sugar.

2 hour decant. This hits a solid 90. 'Mature' colour, with a pronounced rim, cherry body. Gamey on the nose but floral, lily, ripe cherries. Very balanced on the palate, gentle tannins, juicy and exciting. Excellent.

Accompanied hard cheese. Noticeable acidity upon first opening, quite 'fermented'. Noticeable pepper from the syrah, could be better integrated. Day 2, still a little unbalanced, but the fruit is juicier after 24hrs. Overall unremarkable, a bit too sharp.
