This baby needs years to fully come around and show itself. Poured a glass via Coravin and am glad I didn’t pull the cork. Blackberry, some smokiness and earth but this took time to show. Wait 5 years

    9/13/21, 6:13 PM - Careful with the coravin. I made the same mistake of not realizing this bottling uses a synthetic cork that does not re-seal after pulling the needle.

    8/13/20, 5:50 PM - I believe this vintage is roughly 70/30 or 80/20 SB to Semillon.

A lot of mixed reviews on this wine, and I'd say my experience was similarly mixed. Coravined a glass at cellar temperature, and it showed the nice aromatics that others have mentioned. Palate was more "purple" (as i have seen that term used). But as it warms up, or gains air, or both, most of that goes a way and the tannins become more astringent. Probably not as bad as some have said, not as good as some have said, but overall not a good value. Will see if the rest of the bottle is any different and update if so.

    6/18/20, 1:57 PM - yes - i learned that after pulling the needle. A bit annoying. I don't understand why any bottle over $15 would use plastic corks over composite.
