Well, hello. Upon my first sip, this is what the wine appeared to be saying. The wine is dark. The nose is, well, restrained. Hints of dark fruit and other nuances, but by no means anything that that makes you sit up and take notice. Then that first sip. Blind me and I will tell you I am drinking a wine 1/3 its age. Rich, solid tannins that offer no hint of a 15 year old Pauillac. The wine offers up beautiful dark fruit, blackberry. Maybe a hint of raspberry. There is a small sense of earth, leather, and a couple others that I could not put my finger on. The finish was long and delicate. Overall, it's beautiful. And in 5 years it will be better. Very likely 10 years as well. This beauty will stand the test of time.

Dark in the glass with a touch of aging showing around the edges. Like most of us, eventually. A nose that exhibits red fruit, florals, some oak. My first sip and I looked at my wife and said Cherry upon cherry. But, this was a first sip using a Coravin, so literally no chance to open up. Which, once it did, revealed red fruit, some tobacco, vanilla. This wine definitely needs either time or a decant to fully express itself. As the night wore on, it just got better and better. Tannins remain firm enough for a balanced structure that you would expect in a near 20-year old wine. Nice long finish with no bitterness. Have one more bottle and damn glad I do.

A little funk on the nose, but in a good 14-year old way. It blows off quickly to reveal a wine that is displaying wonderful characteristics of right bank Bordeaux. The fruit is still alive and well and showing off the fruitiness that rings of Merlot. Think of your favorite Merlot, soften it and add gentle notes of earthiness that are characteristic of an aged Bordeaux. Complete with a medium finish that is never bitter and begs of another sip. It's drinking well, with the ability to go longer. The tannins back up this beauty.

Inky dark, and not really showing any signs of bricking around the meniscus. The nose is moderate with notes of cassis, forest floor, cocoa. The palate is, shall I say, yummy in that beautiful old world style. Blackberry, mocha, maybe blueberry as well. All wrapped up in a wine with tannins that are still indicating more years in the cellar are possible. The finish is long and balanced with no roughness at all.

9/21/18, 5:05 PM - Mark, I doubt it. I popped it and have been drinking at home with just my wife. I didn't look at other comments before writing this, but I will go back and check. It sounds like I hit on what others have noted. Not a bad thing.

The bottle was ex-Chateau recorked in 2011. A color and nose that belies its age. Red fruits, touch of earthiness. The palate is mature, yet still buttressed by a good acidic base that hits the front and midpalate. The fruits tended to gravitate a bit towards dark with some additional notes of pencil lead, forest floor. The tannins are resolved but still present enough to complement the acidity for a beautiful silky drink. There are still a few years to go in the cellar. A beautiful Bordeaux, I am glad I have at least one more.

5/16/17, 12:59 PM - Hi Kirk. I wish I could say. Putting a crystal ball up against wine aging is really speculative. Based on how this wine was performing Friday night, I would say yes. It had enough stability and structure, in my opinion. And, I drank it over a 2 hour period, and it did not lose any of its fortitude.

Inky color. The nose throws off a small amount of heat. Dark fruit, cocoa. The wine is young and a little tight, but still drinks very nicely. Dark fruit, a little oak, cocoa, plum. There's a lot going on with this baby. Glad I have more.
