1/15/24, 12:32 PM - Issue for me was the diluted flavors. Don’t see this improving.
2/28/23, 1:28 PM - Napa Cabs typically more fruit forward than BDX and no different here. This will last many more years, although fruit intensity will obviously fade. Suggest you hold off for about 5 years and try a bottle. This is not a headonitic ooze monster, but definitely can taste the fruit over the nuance currently. I like to taste fruit in my wine personally. Enjoy!
4/5/22, 11:43 AM - Bought at an auction about 10 years ago, then climate controlled storage, so buyer beware? No sign of leakage.
8/28/21, 3:31 PM - I think your right! I need to edit this
6/25/21, 7:47 PM - You’re blessed and I’m jealous, a once in lifetime opportunity
11/11/20, 2:30 PM - This was not tight or lean or too highly structured. However, it was quite primary in the sense it was very fruity and fresh. Fruit was good, but on the straight forward simpler side with little in the way of spice or depth. No doubt it likely improves as the fruit fades a bit and integrates, but just don't see this developing into a more thought provoking nuanced wine. However, I have been wrong before. Just a bit disappointed vs my lofty expectations as a serious Burgundy fanboy.
11/10/20, 8:24 AM - Just popped and poured for group of SQN fans, so no decant. This was just a bit thin and lacking the typical extraction signature of SQN, all in attendance agreed. Immediately popped a 2011 Dark Blossom Syrah with much better results. Both wines came directly from the winery to me.
6/28/20, 3:31 PM - Thanks for the kind words. See my write up on these wines in CT, feel, free to ask any questions, all three excellent!
10/31/16, 6:35 PM - Please fix this
5/24/16, 8:32 PM - Wow, 9,798 points based on potential! I used to think you graded conservatively, you may have gone a bit over board here by at least a few points, but then again it was so good.
3/25/13, 9:03 AM - Had both the 1995 and 1996 open for comparative tasting for group of five seriously experienced tasters. The wines were served blind. Everyone thought it was a Northern Rhone, with one person saying Rostaing Cote Rotie (wow!) Most thought the wines were 1999/1998. Good well stored bottles from 1995/1996 not falling apart, but unlikely to improve either IMHO.
1/13/13, 2:39 PM - I think this will improve, but currently drinking quite nice with just a quick decant. Served along side the 100 point 2009 Clinet and I actually preferred the Pavie 2003 just by a hair today. Had the Ch Margaux 2003 a few days ago and while clearly different in style was equally nice to the Pavie. However, my overall opinion on 2003 is to be very picky as many are quite ackward. In any case 2003 Pavie will hold many years in my opinion.
