Probably the most enjoyable Bordeaux I've tasted. Near perfectly balanced with a fine tannin structure and a good integration of dark fruit and acidity. I decanted the wine 3 hours before pairing it with a prime rib eye steak. The decant was essential to get the most from the cedar box nose. In fact, the little wine I had left on the following day was even more expressive. The palate was full bodied but elegant, the finish lingering for many seconds. Unfortunately, the wine completely lost its balance on the second day, even though I had it under partial vacuum and refrigerated. Oh well, it was great when it counted.

6/8/22, 10:28 AM - Nice review. Looking forward to taste mine. While it prevents oxidation of the wine, putting wine under vacuum literally sucks the dissolved phenolic gases (the aromas that carry some of the flavors as well) right out of the wine. In my opinion, the best way to keep leftovers is to transfer the wine to a smaller bottle.

Prior bottle was almost 13 months ago and unfortunately, this bottle didn't show as well. Nose continues to show black cherry, earth, vanilla and minerals with the vanilla a bit more noticeable than before even though the wine overall was nowhere near as aromatic. Between medium and full bodied with black cherry and blackberry upfront, but only hints of black raspberry through the middle. Mid-body also didn't have the depth it showed previously. Tart black cherry along with earth, spices and minerals on the backside and through the finish. The main issue was the acidity which seemed noticeably out of balance with the fruit and took a lot away from the wine. Given the thinner mid-body, the dominance of the acidity throughout and the declining aromatics, I suspect this was a flawed bottle (hence no rating). I couldn't detect anything overt, but find it hard to believe this wine could've changed so much in just over a year. Just to be sure, I'll open my last bottle later this year to confirm.

11/22/20, 6:58 PM - I got one just the same as you describe. Much of a let down.
