Way past it’s prime. Lost any nuance- was drinkable; better after a long decant and on day 2-3.

QPR okay. Bomby. Better on days 3-5.

Surprisingly well preserved and better than expected from this ~12 yr. old vintage. Simple notes, but lasts on palate and very low acidic bite. Wish I had more; this was the last bottle.

Waited too long on this one- thin and past well past the peak of its drinkability, but tolerable in its fourth quarter. Another few years and it will/would have made an excellent cooking wine. Luckily this is my last one.

Much better than I expected; drank over a few days. Deep/complex notes- mostly cherry, some spice. Doesn’t linger as long on palate as I would have liked; but for a ‘budget’ cellarable wine at this price point, I have few complaints. Tastes like it still has room, too. Maybe another 5+ years; or maybe I just got an exceptional bottle. 91+

I have one more from this ‘03 vintage in my cellar; I’ll be looking forward to it much more now.

Pretty much in-line with others' assessments of this wine. I prefer the Bin 707 from the '04 vintage; but as I was doing a P&P at a local restaurant (La Fontana, Seattle- a favorite of mine for over two decades now), I had a limited decanting time- though after about an hour, it opened nicely. Well-structured, strong; but not acidic on the palate at all; medium-length finish with mild hints of the Terroir.

Overall, I enjoyed this wine tremendously with my tortellini Gorgonzola & Caprese. In my estimation, it is at its best right about now; but it will age another five to seven years, if I had to guess. The Bin 707s should age through the 2030s.

Possibly a bit corked. Very acidic up front. Gave it time to mellow which helped a bit, but overall complexity was gone and lingering oxygenation on palate was unpleasant. Not altogether terrible; likely just a bad bottle.

Thin and a bit gamey on the palate initially; but it opened up after an hour or so and though thin, it was enjoyable enough. I should have sold/drank the last of these a few years back. My '88 is holding up better than this, though it too is on the downslope of mature.

Amazing that this still can show amazing complexity and structure after nearly 40 years. A bit flat off the top, it grew into a wonderful bouquet of almond and cherry. Long finish. Not good for very long out of the bottle, but quite impressive.

Must have had a lucky bottle or something, as it was VERY well-received at a recent dinner-- and I had to agree- it held its complexity without any hints of over-acidity or being past its prime. Great 'Meritage'-style wine. 90 points.

Definitely deserves to be at or above that '90' psychological mark that tells us it is likely going to be pallatable-- this was crisp, served with a light salad course, snappy; complex enough to keep you interested.

@ Bistro Bafi in Burien with Kari. Quite good structure-- held up to the arribiata sauce and the rest of the pasta well, so I'd say it was a success for the course, though by no means a 'classic', it is one of two bottles I have and I think I'll wait until 2016 or so on it-- it seems like it should develop by then. 91 points.

Dinner W/ Dave, John, & Stacy in Kingston with BBQ burgers, mushrooms, onions, great beef, all the condiments. Nice-- the wine fit nicely in with all of these after a one our decant to take the edge off. Solid 88-89'er. Pretty consistent all the way through, though I did notice a lot of earthy feel to it-- not in a real negative way; just unusual. Plenty of fruit for taste, low on spices; but a thoroughly pleasant taste from beginning to end.

Quite ready to drink now; but probably will last for another 5+ years, this was a great example of a Rioja- I had not had a decent one in years. Hints of vanilla and medium finish with moderate tannin structure for an '05.

Wow! Wasn't expecting so much from an "extra" form the wine club; much like Scheid's "Closing Bell", this is a great rich dessert wine that has just the right amount of fruit and "raisiny" with a balanced, lengthy finish. Wish I had another...

A powerful wine that would do well with some more time in the bottle, IMO. Tannic up-front with noticeable hints at developing more character. Will try in a couple of years.

Drank at a Jazz club with a pasta dish; very powerful wine- up-front with less tannic than expected, even given age. Lengthy finish with hints of many different but indistinguishable spices.

A little thinner than expected; but this is the Alexander, not the Napa, so expectations are tempered a bit. Up-front with cherries and fruit; but dragging a little on the back end. Overall a wonderful wine; one left for (much) later.

Filled with refined characteristics not found on wines this young. I loved the casis and complexities of spice and long finish. Looking forward to the next 4.

About what I would expect. Effervecent right up front and pale on the back end.
