From SommSelect: ripe raspberry, black cherry, cranberry, wild strawberry, huckleberry, crushed granite, damp clay, grape stem, purple flowers, wisps of pepper…bright, ebullient, and bursting with crushed minerals and the juicy, brambly, high-toned nature of the best Cru Beaujolais.

- Yellow gold color and aromas of apricot, melon, fig and butterscotch. It's balanced and has flavours of melon, almond, vanilla and sherry with a medium/full body. Fleshy texture with a long finish - Drank happily at our wedding Sep 22, 2012 with 60 guests.
Most memorable full body, unctuous texture. Lengthy finish.

Originally had this at Calmos Cafe in St. Martin w salade nicoise et acras. Shipped a case from CA. Recaptures the spirit of the memory perfectly. Color peachy pale rose sunset. NOT RED. Sophisticated, balanced fruit and acidity.

Happy with both Savignys I tried this next. Both Savignys are more typical of the AOC and truly memorable. A good but not better Pommard. Still, high QPR when you consider it's just $25.

A steal. Nose of earth and smoky cherries, but less manure-rich than the 1er Cru Serpentieres. Bought this one instead becasue of its elegant balance and secondary earthiness.

Nice color and clarity. Just not the depth or complexity I was hoping for having been blown away by his whites. Little earth, but still nice. Prefer others at this price range.

Wow, what a steal. This tastes like a Meursault and costs like a bourgogne. Deliciously balanced marriage of fruit and oak. Pair with salmon, lobster, great on its own.

Clear ruby with legs, nose of dried cherries and spice, big warm mouthfull of attractive fruit with ample spiciness. More full-bodied than the Villa Maffei, Antica Corte and the Masi Campofiorin, but less so than the Zenato (but more elegant). My favorite so far. Encouraged to try Montresor's more expensive version next. Rating is a comparison to other ripassi.

Almost black with black cherry edge and sinewy legs. Abundant nose of dried cherries, cassis, chocolate and spicebox. Remarkably smooth tannins and delicious fruit. Medium bodied. My first Malbec will buy more of this. Similar but superior to their Misterio. 15% alc.

At ten years this wine shows dark ruby with a slight brown edge and strong legs. Substantial aroma of dark berries, cassis and a hint of cigar box. On the palate, the fruit is still fresh, slightly sweet and almost jammy (though to me fruit bombs are less balanced), the tannins are mellowing, and the length is impressive, perhaps 45-60 seconds. Served at about 60 degrees. Delicious.

Pale with tiny bubbles, crisp, citrus, dry mineral flavors, slightly frizzante. Light-bodied, refreshing and unusual. Good with salads, rsaw fish and as apertif on a very hot day. Comes in a green Riesling btl. Traditionally poured from height to create froth in tall glass. Mentioned in Azamov's Pour wine blog. Only 11% alc. Made from 90% Hondarribi Zuri and 10% Hondarribi Beltza, is fermented and raised in stainless steel. From Spain's Basque region. IWC 90 WA 86.

I liked this a bit more than ews3 whose review is excellent. I get an earthiness in place of the green olives. Slightly bitter on the long finish. Enough tannins to age and perhaps mellow. Good QPR.
