Don’t give this rating lightly but it’s frankly the best Malbec I’ve ever tasted. A Malbec for Burgundy lovers. First time tasting it was at the legendary steakhouse ‘Don Julio’ in Buenos Aires last year. Firing on all cylinders now but likely has 5-10 years easily. Lush perfume, integrated oak, soft tannins.

Usual 2014 precision. My last bottle was 2 years ago and this time the wine has started to come around nicely. Lemon, integrated butter, crisp. Delicious now but prob better in a couple of years

Fresh! Young! Not even close to its peak!

Stone fruits, tropical, leesy. Very attractive nose and a lovely, long finish. Not your basic, cheap NZ SB. Perfect with a lean, grilled white fish.

One of the best young Napa Cabs I’ve ever tasted, period. So silky, with expensive fruit. The nose is intoxicating. 100% Cabernet. Secondary notes should start to develop after 2024.

Stunning. So much depth and energy. Give it an hour to open up and you will be rewarded. Etherial.

Velvety. Sensual. Bold. Intoxicating. Better after a ~2hr decant. Long life ahead. Will try my next bottle in a couple of years.

2016 base, disgorged Nov 2020. 40% Chardonnay, 20% Pinot Noir, 30% Pinot Meunier, and 10% Vin Rouge (Pinot Noir). Dark in appearance, Bone dry. Some natural strawberry sweetness and an elegant, persistent mousse. An excellent companion to cheese, charcuterie, poultry. Love it.

Purple ink, overwhelming tannins, tart fruits. Really not enjoyable and I don’t know if it will ever be. Likely the worst collab ever to come out of Brian McClintic’s Viticole Wine franchise...

Not my favorite. Not enough acidity or minerality. Feels extracted, with noticeable oak. Will try my other bottles with roast chicken and winter vegetables, might be better

Look, once you get over the fact that you’re likely paying an extra ~$30 for the Roulot name, the wine in the bottle is actually quite enjoyable. Rich on the nose, with some oak coming through. Ripe fruits. Little lemon zest and acidity on the finish. Very good with salmon or chicken. Drink from now to 2024.

There is Sancerre and there is *Sancerre*; this happens to be the latter. From the famous “Les Romains” vineyard, one of the benchmark wines of the appellation. Well-balanced with great. Lemon, marzipan, spice and floral notes. Pleasure to drink now, whether it be with sushi or a cheese plate, but has enough body to go another 5-10 years I reckon.

Decided to open one of my bottles way too early, drank over two days. Much better on Day Two. Quite dry as you would expect, but the secondary notes started to shownthemselves every so slightly on the second day. Built to age, so I will be stashing my remaining bottles for at least five years. Better from 2025. 92pts now but potential for 94-95 in the future.

There is something hedonistic about drinking a young d’Yquem, especially one from a much heralded vintage. Absolute fireworks in the mouth, perfect balance of searing acidity, sweetness, exotic fruits. More on the one-dimensional side for now, but you can tell this is going to fully develop in about a decade and will certainly outlive me!

PnP, drank over a couple of hours. Big wine, with lots of power. High acidity. Full mouth-feel, with brioche notes coming through. Great bottle of champagne that benefits from a proper food pairing. It is a pleasure to drink now but will likely be rocking on all cylinders in 5+ years.

Fairly lean, mineral, and linear. Good balance between fruit and acidity, but not terribly complex. No noticeable oak coming through. Solid wine to pair with sushi take-out on a week-night, but nothing special.

Bought on release directly from the winery, the bottle was in immaculate condition. Quick decant for ~one hour and it jumped right out with beautiful fruit aromas of dark berries. The palate was well-balanced with leather, earthiness, and fine tannins. Could be mistaken for a top-notch, aged left bank BDX, but had a bit more fruit. Still has 5-10 years of life in it, and I will not be rushing to open my few remaining bottles.
