Good albeit heavy pinot more akin to a Syrah. Typical of the producer. This was a crowd favorite at a school event. In a good place right now. No upside to further cellaring. Serious juice but a bit too rich for my taste but well made for what it is. The review is based more on the quality for this style of wine.

This went fast amongst my friends. Full throttle Zin but amazingly balanced when thinking about the 15.8% alcohol.

We decanted this an hour before dinner. This is dark , dense, and exquisitely balanced. The dark berry fruit is full but not overly ripe. There is some tart berry, cedar, and a great sooty flavor as well.

Aromas of raspberry and pepper. Flavors of white pepper, blueberry and chocolate. Smooth, lingering and delicious.

In flight from Hong Kong to San Francisco. Light berry nose followed by tastes of spice, tart blueberry, and a hint of chocolate. Moderate acidity and tannins. Medium finish. I'll try the Shiraz next.....

3/6/14, 9:10 AM - I think the effects of the alcohol are heightened at altitude. And yes, the experience is also a little like getting away with something, flying and drinking!!

Another vintage, another nice bottle of wine. Tart cranberry and sour cherry along with a nice smoky/sooty note. A great $20USD Napa cab. Paired well with a tin of Trader Joe's smoked trout, cream cheese, and almond nut thin crackers.

Distinctly old world nose in a moderate way. High tones of cherry and berry with sandalwood. Pleasant but gritty tannins. A good wine but lacking the fullness of the previous bottle. just didnt seem like a Riserva. But served at the right temperature with the right person makes this a memorable wine indeed. Salute to the First Ever 10th Annual World's Shortest St. Patrick's Day Parade.

Another nice showing of this quintessential old world red. Nice dried cherry, leather, and spices on the nose; cherry and red fruit flavors with substantial acidity. Very good but definitely not a Brunello and surely no Tignanello!
  • JuliannaDHS commented:

2/26/13, 9:18 AM - The fact that you even think about Brunello and Tignanello when you tasted this says a lot about how good it was.

Corton-Charlemagne never fails to please and at its typical price point, it better not!

Beautiful crystal clear golden green color. Creamy lemon/citrus nose with a nice smoky hint; lemon/orange, lemon oil, and hazelnut flavors. Delicious and a wine worthy of sharing.

Nose of bright cherry and toast. The taste was rich black cherry, raspberry, spice and cola. Flavors all well integrated with just enough acidity. Full bodied with a lingering finish. My kind of pinot. Wish I had more to share.

The color is on the lighter side; moderate cola and cherry aromas along with a hint of rose; strong grape flavor along with cola and cocoa. Very long drawn out finish. Overall slightly subdued yet delicious. Fair QPR at $18USD. My first wine from Macedonia and probably not my last.
  • JuliannaDHS commented:

1/23/13, 2:13 PM - Sounds like a very interesting Pinot.

And another impressive showing...... Dark and brooding in the glass (thankfully not matching my mood). Prominent nose of plums with a bit of spice; plum, red berries, and spice flavors. Distinct acidity but a nice medium bodied balance to this wine. This could work well as a ringer in Bordeaux tasting.
